Switched On CD's is a good place to sell your old CD's or trade them in for fresh music. They may not offer a lot, but it's better than the $1 you'd earn at a garage sale.

Their music selection id different from that of the big chain stores. they carry music that you can' find anywhere else and they sell it at very reasonable prices.

A small store in a non-college town, so I suppose a limited selection is to be expected. I actually managed to find some great stuff there-all in the new arrivals bin, but the main bin looked as though it had stagnated with somebody's bad cd collection. The owner should probably introduce a dollar bin to try and move some of the drivel. For instance, if you're looking for the Rolling Stones, you're more likely to find Mick Jagger solo albums.

That said, the store is the best place for used music in the area and the owner is very nice. The prices are more than reasonable, likely averaging 5.99-7.99 per disc. Often, there are good sales as well- (buy 3, get one, etc.)

PROS: good prices
CONS: limited selection

My first experience at SOCDs was an unpleasant one: I was there for a meet-and-greet, and the artist was a no-show. However, every time I've been there since that day, I've always found something in the used CD bin that I can't live without. Their selection of new music will never rival Best Buy, but their selection of hard-to-find items is first class. Their staff is always friendly and helpful without being too pushy.

PROS: great selection of used and hard-to-find music
CONS: often don't have a lot of copies of popular items
