Haircolorxperts - Birkdale

I moved here 3 years ago from Tucson, AZ. I tried several salons in my area, and could not find anywhere I felt comfortable. A friend reccommended Hair Color Xperts at Birkdale, and although I live 45 minutes away from the salon, I made an appointment. I met Abbee there, and she is a hair stylist angel sent from heaven. She LISTENS! She is great at what she does... even when I was third trimester hugely pregnant, she was patient and offered suggestions when I couldn't figure out a style that would not make me look frumpy. The manager there will greet you when you walk in, and she has never failed to offer coffee or soda. It is a warm and friendly place where the stylists and clients chat together, comparing notes, lives, etc. I have ALWAYS had a pleasant experience, and I PASS about 20 salons just to get there. Also it is near a Starbucks, and that's a nice bonus.

Pros: Abbee in particular is great, friendly staff. Near Starbucks, & bookstore.

Cons: Toilet flushes twice, and I always worry someone will think I didn't wash my hands.

I have been a customer for two years now and Abbee is wonderful...i will not let ANYONE else touch my hair. My color always comes out amazing and my cut exactly what I'm looking for. I can give her an idea and she gives me wonderful advice. She is always up to teaching me new styling tips. I love the salon its very clean and all the ladies have smiles on their faces. The ladies in the front are quick to notice me and help me. I feel like my business as a client is well appreciated. I think Ashley is great keeping the place organized and operates the salon smoothly with alot of heart. I will continue to stay a customer for years to come!!!

The prices continue to go up the quality of service has gone way down. the atmosphere is warehouseish, uninviting,and the tempature is uncomftorably cold.

There is a new manager that has taken over the last year and is unskilled as far as customer service, or managing people in general. When you walk in you feel like you are bothering her to let you know you are here to see your stylist. She stomps through the salon like she is irritated and looks like she just rolled out of bed hair pulled up or wet doesn't even care to wear any makeup . How does a beauty salon represent themselves that way?

I have been a client for several years seeing a stylist in particular, she has been wonderful to me professional and makes me feel comtorable she took the time to listen to what i wanted every time i saw her. unfourtunatly i can not find my stylist. the manager will not tell me where she went. I have been a loyal client to my stylist not the salon, lula did my hair, not the manager or any other stylist.

Seeing the turnover the past few MONTHS i am not at all interested in trying a new stylist, there has been 5 stylist that have left within a month 3 of wich were in 1 week. New hire has less than 1 year experience and they come and go within a month. i specifically asked for one in particular and she was gone too. I am uncomftorable sitting in am empty salon and letting someone who has less than two years experience touch my hair!

In addition to the unprofessional management, you can see her irritation towards stylist, stomping through the salon I never felt comftorble asking if she would have a magazine. I am so dissapointed not being able to find my stylist ! If it weren't for Lula i would never give that salon a penny of mine.

My stylist was Abby, and I thought she did an AMAZING job, well worth the money. Really listened to what I wanted. I had a cut and highlights put in for a christmas party and was very nervous how it would turn out. I have medium brown hair, and a tan complexion but for some reason stylists always try to give me brassy yellow highlights. Abbee used color for the highlights instead of bleach, and the final effect was just what I wanted. She also took the time to teach me a new styling trick with the flat iron! Very happy, and will be going back again.

Laurie Mitchell is my stylist. She does a wonderful job at taking the time to listen to what you want and making sure you feel comfortable. She fixed my hair where another salon had messed it up. I have had a ton of compliments on my hair and its cut and color. Thanks, Laurie!

I've been a very happy client of HairColor Experts for over a year now. It is always a wonderful experience. Lula has been my hairstylist and I highly recommend her expertise. She always brings out the best in hair color and cut. The ladies in the salon are very friendly as well.

My name is Ron and I recently had a fantastic experience with the Birkdale HairColor Experts. All the girls that work there are very professional as well as friendly. My stylist was Laurie Mitchell and she did my first razor cut and it was totally awesome. She is very professional and very talented with a razor as well as color. I'm 50 and have quite a few grays and she matched my color like no one has done before, you would never know that my hair was colored, it looks so natural I feel totally comfortable and look 10 years younger. I would highly recommend going to see Laurie if your looking for a truly great cut and color by a true expert. Thank You Laurie.

i've gone to this place a couple times in the past. On my last haircut, I went somewhere else. It was terrible, It reminded me why I liked hair color experts in the first place. My favorite stylist is Shelly. She listens and really does a great job with hair. If you have a thick frizzy hair, Shelly can really help you out!

Disappointed !!!!! That would be the best word to describe my feelings about this Salon. As a long time client of this place, I have recently become an ex-client. My hair for the past year and a half has always been fine, but the way Jessie made me feel was FABULOUS!! Thats really why I loved going so much. She always sincerely seemed excited that I was there. Well , Jessie is gone now and I couldn't believe the difference it has made to the attitude and energy that flows so poorly in this Salon. I was greeted by --NO ONE-- at the front, a minute later a girl walks up chewing on some food after being chased down by a stylist who was busy working on her client but saw me lingering at the desk, then I didn't get my normal welcome (like Jessie would have done), which mainly consisted of a drink offer. They just said "It will be a few minutes "and quickly walked back to wherever she was before I interrupted. So my stylist came and that all went fine as usual. UNTIL!! We were ready for the check out and there was once again -NO ONE -at the desk. Honestly 5 minutes later the girl ( I was told that day to be the NEW MANAGER), comes up as though she was annoyed by something. I felt like maybe it was me. With no remark or second look at me she told me my total -"$212."And then looked at me with a look on her face that honestly made me feel like a burden to her at that moment! I'm not a rich lady so when i spend $212 in the salon People ,can you smile at me then tell me my hair looks great? Lie to me or something! I didn't make my next appt. that day because she didn't bother asking therefore i haven't been back!

Went to Haircolorxperts at Lake Norman sort of last minute and had an amazing experience. The service was the best I have ever had at a hair salon. Ron was my stylist and he was sincerely interested in what I wanted and needed in my haircut and I left completely satisfied. The cost was $42 for a cut which is reasonable, but the service was extraordinary. I will definately recommend this salon and Ron to anyone looking for a great place to get their haircut!

I will definitely keep coming to Ron at Haircolorexperts, Birkdale. He listens to what I want and suggests how to get the results. My color and cut have been great! The whole staff there is professional and there to please you. I will be moving to Oklahoma soon but plan to come back to Ron when back in town for visits. When I find someone that can style my fine, thin hair.......I will be back.

Hair color experts in Lake Norman is certianly the best salon I have ever been and I highly recommend it. You walk in a notice how it is so upscale the place is, and you think you are going to be paying an arm and a leg. Absolutely not. This salon is beautiful! They offer you a drink before you even sit down, they make you feel like a GODDESS! Abbee cut my hair, and I am telling you that is the best hair cut I have ever had, at the time my hair was down past my shoulders and I told her to make it funky and cute! What do you know she did wonders, she cut it about an inch above my shoulders (thats alot of hair), she thinned it out, put some layers thru out and dyed the top with some blonde highlights. I'm tell you what I was bringing SEXEY(had to changed the spelling or it wouldn't let me add it!!) back, FOR REAL! I felt like a new woman, after I left. There is no way I could EVER change stylist! Abbee did a fantasic job, and I do recommend her and the salon! Thanks Abbee!

I sought out HairColorExperts at Lake Norman when I was in the area visiting a friend last week. I have long red hair and I was wanting to give my hair some personality rather than the usual plain trim.

After making my appointment, I was greeted very warmly and offered a beverage. I had made an appointment with a woman named Abbee. She was extremely bright and friendly upon approach.

I have tons of heavy red hair- most people usually cut it as best they can and hurry through it in 15 minutes. Abbee took her time and really did a wonderful job. She made my hair have the personality I wanted it to and even made it feel so much lighter without taking too much off the bottom.

I love that they quote you the prices up front so you have no suprises. The experience is upscale, but you don't pay for it. I'm amazed that I paid a smidge more than the usual corner shop hair cuttery place and got an upscale salon experience.

I've already recommended this place to friends and especially Abbee. I live in Raleigh, but I'll wait until I'm in Charlotte again just to go back there.

I have been here before and loved my experience. I haven't been back in awhile because I have moved and been planning my wedding! when I arrived at the salon, I knew that my stylist (shelly) had her work cut out for her. My hair was choppy for not being cut in awhile and I wanted more depth to my highlights and lowlights. Talk about being made over!! She made my hair look the best it has looked in the longest time! All the stylist's there are so sweet and everyone makes you feel like your special. I would definetely go back just for the experience but also for the way Shelly made me look and feel.

Pros: upscale salon, experienced stylists, the way you feel when you walk out!

Cons: sorry I don't have any con's!

I really wanted to do something different with my hair, but haven't had the confidence to do it up until now. The girl that did my hair had just come back from some special color training and helped me to create a look that was unique w/out looking too wild. I LOVE IT !

My hair is naturally dark but I have had it colored and highlighted blonde for about 15 years. When I went in, the girl told ME what she would do and I figured that maybe she knew better. She showed me the pieces of hair in the color chart and it looked like it would be pretty. She was the one who went to school, right? Well, my hair was GREEN. She colored my hair DARK BROWN and put in GREEN highlights. When I went in to have it color corrected, the sullen young girl who was assigned to me (I made sure to go in when my original girl was off) got an attitude and insisted my hair was NOT green. An instructor came over and showed her that it was indeed green. Why the instructor did not fix my hair, I will never know. I was not at all happy with the do over but what was I to do. Telling everyone about the bad experience is my only choice. It is a disappointment as I did have high hopes for this place. The price was no bargain either and now I am freaked out to go to anyone because it was such a horrible experience not to mention the four extra hours on my only day off to try to get it fixed. I actually cried because I looked so terrible and now I buy Loreal Coleur Experte and do it myself.

I was impressed with the salon in the way that it looked. The stylist (mid level) asked me a lot of questions as to what I wanted. I wanted a warm brown color that as it faded out my hair would still look natural. My color came out about two shades darker than what I had expected (looked black)but it still looked nice. When she gave me my cut she trimmed the bangs a little shorter than what I wanted and when she styled it she did a terrific job but I was not able to style it the same way. As the color grew out of my hair I didn't have to color my roots which is what I wanted and my hair still looked natural. The chemicals were not as harsh as I thought they would have been. When it comes down to it I would go there again to get my hair colored but as far as the cut - even though it was not bad, I have had better cuts at CostCutters.

I was in over the weekend becasue I could not get in with my regular hairdresser. I can't remember the woman's name that did my hair but it is BEAUTIFUL and I am very particular.

They were also very nice. I can't wait to go back. I told them I would send my friends.

I learned a great lesson by going to this salon. Expensive doesn't mean it's better or in this case even good. I booked my appointment with the highest level stylist they had and came out of there looking like I cut my own hair. My hair looks chopped, uneven and my layers do not even blend in with the rest of my hair. Plus, one side is longer then the other. This is one of the worst haircuts I have ever had. Don't waste your money, it's not worth it.

I travel to Charlotte every Month from New York. Stopped into this Salon for a quick trim and had the BEST cut/color I have ever had! I now use Laurie as my permanent stylist! I work in fashion and I have never had so many compliments on my hair.The service from all the staff is exceptional!

New to Huntersville - tried some of the usual suspects and was stoked when I found hair color experts - great cut & color - the staff was friendly and helpful unlike most other high end salons I tried in the area. Hilary is who I saw.

I used to go to another upscale salon and changed to haircolorxperts 5 months ago for various reasons. I can honestly say that my experience at my new salon has been nothing but positive. The salon is very clean and the staff is hip. I am always treated as if I was a new customer. Job well done!
