el Fenix Mexican Restaurants

This is the original flagship El Fenix restaurant and seems to have slightly better food than some of the satellite locations, which means it is excellent! It is a huge restaurant with multiple dining halls- I prefer the front rooms, especially the booths to the far side behind the screen wall. It can be a bit crowded and noisy at lunch time, especially Wednesday, but it is generally worth the wait.I grew up in Dallas and my father used to take our family of 7 to the El Fenix in Northpark Mall back when the Enchilada Special was only $.99! Now more than 40 years later I continue the tradition with my own family and the food is unchanged- still great if you like real Tex-Mex. The Wednesday Enchilada Special with all the complementary chips, tortillas & hot sauce you can eat is a real bargain. Other menu items are just as good- my wife loves the spinach enchiladas.The decor is very nice with lots of comfortable booths. The service is almost always superb.Nice place to take out-of-town visitors and brag about Tex-Mex, then you can hop over to downtown and show them some urban sights.

My favorite Mexican Restaurant. We eat there every Wednesday, which is Enchilada Wednesday. $5.40, not including tip. The service is great and the food is excellent. I should have stock in this company.

I have grown up on El Fenix... And this is a Dallas Landmark.
In my childhood, we used to drive to downtown Dallas to this first location or over to the Casa Linda location... Now, we are able to just go to the Mesquite location.

It is the quintessential Dallas mexican restaurant with consistent food across all locations... Chips are made from scratch and are light and served warm and they are perfect with the hot sauce. Service is great and even if you ask for water with your meal, expect that they will bring you carafe of water so that you don't run out. They have the ability to host large parties here.

Come try it out.

Pros: Wens. special enchilada plate 5.95 and great service.
Cons: There may be a line at peak times on Wens. and lunch time.
