When living a busy life, we sometime forget that the quality of our lives is determined by our health, both physically and mentally. Each morsel of food impacts the way we think and how we process our thoughts. When the body is properly nurtured, pleasant thoughts arise, and only then can inner peace be possible. We invite you to L'Thai to experience a meal that is prepared the way it would be in Thailand. We are the first organic Thai restaurant outside of Thailand and are proud to be the first to introduce to Atlanta the wholesomeness and goodness of organic Thai cuisine. L'Thai was recently recognized with the "Thai Select" Award by the Thai Ministry Of Commerce, recognizing us as one of the best Thai restaurants in the World outside of Thailand. OUR MISSION: Committed to Health, Vitality and Wellness of Body, Mind and Spirit for all People, and of the Planet.

Editorial by Citysearch

The Scene
Tucked away in a shopping center off Lawrenceville Highway, L'Thai attracts patrons to its soothing environment, complete with a small koi pond and waterfall. Decorated with peach-colored walls and lush greenery, there are two main rooms with elegant booths and Oriental seating. Elegantly garbed servers are polite and deliver steaming dishes swiftly from the kitchen.

The Food
Trumpeting itself as the "only organic Thai restaurant outside of Thailand," L'Thai focuses on fresh, organic ingredients including grass-fed beef. Health-conscious diners will appreciate the large selection of vegetarian dishes. The must-try starter is stuffed wings, delightful with seasoned chicken, minced onion and garlic. Entrees are generously portioned; the basil chicken is sauteed with crushed chili peppers and bell peppers in a fragrant sweet sauce. Curries are a house specialty; green curry, cooked in coconut milk with green beans and bamboo shoots, has a potent kick. Save room for homemade ice cream.

Key Points

  • USDA Cert. Organic Ingredients
  • No MSG or Processed Food
  • Organic Wine & Beer Selections

The Inside Scoop

  1. On the Menu - Red peppers on the menu indicate spicy dishes and you can also indicate to the server your personal preference on the level of spice.
  2. What to Drink - In addition to an extensive wine and beer selection, there is a variety of fruit juices, including guava and tamarind. For a caffeine boost, try the Thai coffee.
  3. Save Money - Reasonably priced lunch entrees come with a spring roll and a choice of jasmine rice or organic brown rice.

Ratings_icons Great food, a little pricey

Susan L. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 936

The food here is just simply great. They offer some of the freshest, tastiest Thai food in Atlanta. They have all of the standards, and a few surprises. And since it's organic, you know it's safer than many other places.

Unfortunately, it's also a little pricey. While I can appreciate good food, it's hard to pay $15 for a vegetarian curry dish, when I can get *almost* the same quality for $10 elsewhere.

The food is expensive and mediocre at best, they won't cook things the way you like, the servers have an attitude problem. They are just not up to the part.
Not even sure the food is organic. Don't bother wasting your money there.

This is a gem for Tucker! Organic Thai food well done; masaman curry and coconut soup are favorites. Nice atmosphere and good service. Wine bar with over 100 varieties, including organic and local wines and beers; most are served by the glass.

You would never believe such a good thai place exists in this strip mall, but don't be fooled. Great wine list. The food is delicious. I noticed recently that the portions have decreased, but I don't need to be stuffed!

Located in a small strip center serving above average thai. Great appetizers and curries. Try shrinp curry pasta and the grouper. I have been a regular since they opened and food is pretty consistent in quality. Organic dishes and vegetables offered.

I think this place beats Surin in the Highlands for some of the best Thai in Atlanta. They use all organically grown ingredients and the fresh flavors make a real difference. I have enjoyed all of the dishes I've tried from my plate and sharing from others as well. They were recently written up in Access Atlanta for the quality of the food. Highly recommend.

Ratings_icons Great Food!

LoveFood

I always try to eat here every time I get a chance. I came here last tuesday. Even though the food was great, but the service was slow. They only have one server working that day. She was running around trying to serve other tables, therefore there was a delay to get service at our table. I'm guessing economy is bad, that's why they cut employees off and only have one server work that day? But she did an ecstatic job when we finally got our food order and service was on a roll. I hope the next time we come again, service will be faster because that was unusual.

Pros: food, service, place

Cons: need more employees in the front

Ratings_icons One of the best Thai places in Atlanta

apache6131

Whenever I have to do some work in Tucker, this is the place I go for lunch. The Prik Khing is amazing and the curries are all very good as well. The prices for lunch are great and service is good as well.

The only thing odd about the place is the location, in a small strip mall on Lawrenceville Hwy. I think they'd get more business if they were located somewhere inside the perimeter, not in the mostly industrial area where they are located.

Pros: Very good food, low prices

Cons: Location seems a bit odd for a place with food this good

Ratings_icons Wonderful Experience

I came for lunch today and I enjoyed it so much! The food was great, and the service was wonderful. They have a beautiful tree in the middle. Everything looks clean and neat. I absolutely love the ladies uniform, they all match and looks very feminine. But I wonder why this restaurant don't have uniform for the men? He only wore an orange t-shirt. I recommend you guys do the same for the men, so they can look professional too! Overall, I had a fantastic experience. I recommend this place to everyone if you haven't been, you're missing out!

Ratings_icons Excellent Thai

Joyolife

After having been hearing so much about this place, I finally had to give it a try since my friend, Meg and I were in the area. She couldn't beleive this was my first time to L'thai since she knew I'm addicted to Thai food and eat Thai at least twice a week. This place was so very cozy with low lightings, soothing music and sound of the waterfall, and the food was truely superb. The coconut soup I had was the best I've ever had, the Panang curry was also out of this world, I got to taste Meg's Pad Thai (they called it old fashioned way) and it was awesome, and best of all, we shared a dessert called FBI, fried banana with mango ice cream. This alone would have me drive from midtown every week. I have eaten at just about every street corners that have Thai Restaurants. This is by far one of the best in Atlanta. PS I also ordered the Pad Thai to go for my husband, Gary. He took one bite and said "Holy food, let's go there tomorrow!". We give this one a 5 stars!

Pros: Clean and fresh tasting in every bites

Cons: none

Ratings_icons Great food, filthy environment!

foodisheroin

It's been a couple months since I took another visit to L'thai. The food was delicious as can be, but I did not enjoy sitting at the booth last time, nor did I like to sit at the table this time. The booth is very uncomfortable, and I learned my lesson the last time to dine in it. So, I went for the table this time, but while enjoying my food, a drop of water fell on my head. I thought it was just me, but it happened constantly and I soon found out that they have leaking ceiling! Not only that, but the place where we ate was so dark, it seems like they were out of electricity? Also, later we order togo and they pack our food in an aluminum container? How can you call it togo if I have to use my own bowl later to microwave it? The food is not even secure, my curry spilt everywhere and it seems like the box was smaller than before! I will never order togo at l'thai again. Maybe not to dine either. It was a bad experience, even tho the food and service are good but it's not worth the trouble with the bad environment.

Pros: food, service

Cons: environment

My friends and I decided to try out this relatively new restaurant in the West Village in Smyrna for a little change of pace, and we were pleasantly surprised! The spring rolls were fabulous and our entrees were top notch as well. The staff was super courteous and helpful. Highly recommended!

Pros: Great food, nice selection!

Ratings_icons Unpleasant, Dusty, Not Totally Organic as Advertised

apple5000

Bad service. Seems like only 10% of the food on the menu is "organic" (if that)? Seems like they use a lot of non-natural flavorings in the food- hard to tell but at the very least a lot of salt is used. Some food is not prepared on premises like the so called fresh "seaweed salad". Dusty fake plastic plants make most of the decor. Hideous large plastic tree in the center of the restaurant; a faux "tree of life" so to speak. Old uncomfortable and cheap furniture and chairs. Bathroom not very clean, I can only imagine what the kitchen looks like. Overpriced. Significantly. If you want true organic, clean, healthy food you should go to somewhere you can trust like Whole Foods Market or Five Seasons in Alpharetta is very good and doesn't try to pretend to be something it clearly is not. Go eat at L'Thai, if you are brave or like being fooled.

Pros: None I can Think Of

Cons: Food and Cleanliness

Ratings_icons Awesome new location in West Village

hotelechopappa

Last night a group of us tried L' Thai for the first time but, we went to the new location in West Village. I highly reccommend you pay this place a visit! The food was fantastic! I had the drunken noodles with steak & spring rolls and, it was sooooo good. The service was good! Like Thai food and you live in Smyrna? Do yourself a favor and swing by!

Pros: Fantastic Food!

Ratings_icons Wonderful Valentine's Dinner

PatPada

After hearing so much about L'Thai, my husband and I went there for the 1st time last night for our Valentine's dinner. We got there early around 5:30 pm to beat the crowd and almost didn't get seated because we didn't have a reservation. They were booked for special 5-course menu at $39.95 per person, which after seeing what they had to offer, it was reasonable. For appetizers, I had Vegan Rolls which was superb, and my husband had Blanketed Shrimp which he said was very good. Then we both had coconut soup which was also very good. For salad, both Green Papaya salad with bay shrimp and Grapefruit & Berries salad were light and excellent. And for entrees, the Sea Bass with 3-flavor sauce was the best fish dish we've ever had, and the Angus Filet Mignon with curry sauce were absolutely out of this world. By the time we get to dessert we were so full, but whatever they bought us (called TLC) was very good and got finished. The service staff was also very courtious and professional eventhough they were jam packed with a line at the door by the time we left. We had such a wonderful time last night. We will be back often and wil recommend L'Thai to everyone.

Pros: Food, Service and Ambience

Cons: Shopping Strip

The food at this restaurant is GREAT!. The restaurant decor is authentic. The staff is friendly. The prices are reasonable. Whenever I get a craving for Thai food, I'm going to come back here. I'll make sure I pass the good news on to my family and friends. This place deserves business.

Pros: Everything was AWESOME!

Cons: Nothing

Ratings_icons Exceptional experience

SteveSimmons

I've never considered critique a restaurant, but this one is exception. I live in San Francisco and have come to Atlanta for business meetings this week. After knowing that Friday night dinner is Thai food at L'Thai, and since I love Thai food and have visited Thailand several times, I couldn't help but to check out this place here at Citysearch. I was rather both excited and skeptical with all the great reviews, recognitions and awards this place received. We went last night, and the experience was exceptional. My Crab Rolls was superb, my Tom Kah soup was excellent, and my Roasted Duck Curry was incredible. Everyone else also seemed to thoroughly enjoy their meals. Besides their great ambiance, their fine food and service, they also have exceptional beer and wine selections I've ever seen in an Asian restaurant. In conclusion, this is the best Thai dinner experience, both in US and abroad. I wish their continue successes and hoping they consider opening one in SF.

Pros: Organic concept

Cons: Not in SF

Ratings_icons Great beer & wine list and exquisite food indeed

matt34

Never thought of driving to Tucker for Thai food since there're several decent Thai restaurants nearby in Vining and Midtown already, but was invited to a friend's BD party this pass weekend. This place was in an old strip mall near Home Depot on the corner of Jimmy Carter and L'ville Hwy. Not a very good first impression regarding location, but when I went inside, it was totally unexpected. The ambience was relaxing with the sound of water fall and soft music. The menus and the beer and wine list were quite extensive and at very decent price. But best of all, the food was excellent. There were 8 of us altogether. My wife and I, and another couple eat meats, but my friend, her husband and the other couple were vegetarians. So after a few sips of gewurztraminer, we ordered some different vegetarian appetizers to share. All were exceptional. For salad, we all shared organic mixed green salad with oil-less peanut dressing. Quite nice and lighjt. For entree, I had the sea bass with ginger sauce which was probably the best I ever had. My wife loved her fried lobster tail with curry sauce. She said it was better than at Pano's & Paul's. I tasted it and it was superbindeed. Other couples seemed to also enjoy their meals as well. After the meal, the waiters brought my friend a complimentary dessert with candle and sang her a happy BD. It was custard made with tarot root. She let me taste it and it was also very good. For my wife and me, we shared a dessert called FBI, which was fried banana with cream cheese and mango ice cream. It was totally exquisite. Others also loved their desserts, especially one had flaming coconut ice cream. The whole evening was quite an experience with great food, great wine, and great companies. As we parted, I asked my friend how she found this place since she lived in Roswell. She said she was invited to a BD party as well, and had been coming back since. Well, my BD is coming up in three weeks, so I guess I'll be back sooner than I thought.

Pros: Food, Ambience, Beer & Wine List, Service

Cons: Location

Ratings_icons Curries NOT vegetarian

jofsharp

Though the menu states the curries can be vegetarian, they are not. After numerous visits and questions, a staff member finally admitted they put fish sauce in the curries. So if you are vegetarian, avoid the curries. There are other dishes on the menu that are suitable for vegetarians and vegans, but not the curries.

Pros: Organic

Cons: curries not vegetarian, menu misleading about vegetarian options

Ratings_icons L'Thai is Excellent

leili

I'm not sure what some of these negative reviews are about. I doubt that L'Thai is making up their own reviews-- that's a little paranoid. I lived in Thailand for two years and have been looking for authentic Thai food in Atlanta to no avail until I ate at L'Thai. I thought the food was fantastic and as close to authentic Thai as I have found in Atlanta. It's expensive because it's organic and it's not Thai takeaway. You get what you pay for! I thought it was a little gem. My husband, who also lived in Thailand, felt similarly.

Ratings_icons Pricey thai dining

lalababy

I do admit, L'Thai is quite tasty, and with the location being tucked away in the outskirts of town, you do not expect it to be so packed. Unfortunately on the weekends the place is packed like any other typical Buckhead restaurant. The food is good but the prices are too high. The portions are decently big also. It is too dark inside the restaurant I almost have a hard time reading the menu! The waiters are limited, they should hire more people. I think the waiters are friendly, and I have never had a problem with poor service.

Pros: food, location

Cons: dark, limited service, too hectic with the limited # of waiters

Ratings_icons I think the site is rating their own restaurants with 5 stars.

heart108

Hi,

Customers be aware, I think this site is rating it's own resturant, thus- the 50 reviews.

I wen't there because of the reviews, however I am not a repeat customer, I think that the meal prices are not accurate on this page- too pricey and needs more of an authentic flavor.

I think it is good that they have plenty of vegetarian choices but I just don't see how this places get's it's 5 stars. You can try it, but do be aware of the ratings! Don't have too high expectations.

Pros: More vegetarian options, water is friendly.

Cons: Pricey, Overrated, Brown rice is not really brown rice. Organic choices are limited.

Ratings_icons Good food but terrible management and customer service!

katherin

Although I had only gone to Le Thai once before, and was pleasantly surprised with their food and service, I am prompted to discourage anyone from going to this restaurant on holidays such as MOTHER'S DAY! We (six adults and two one yr olds) had made reservations for lunch time and they seated us fifteen minutes after our reservation time. First off, it is not baby friendly... I had to change my baby's diaper on a chair (since they don't have changing stations in the bathroom) while we waited to be seated. To our dismay, once we were seated, they didn't have a highchair for my daughter. They only have TWO highchairs in the whole restaurant! In terms of customer service: no one came to ask what we wanted to drink, ten minutes later they brought the menus, and ten minutes later came to take our order, we sat for one and a half hours and our food hadn't arrived. My nephew and daughter were restless..and it was absolutey ridiculous that we were still sitting around waiting for lunch at three in the afternoon while our reservation was for 1 pm! We ended up getting it to go. I think they are short staffed, need to make special considerations with families with kids and do a better job at providing optimal service. There was absolutely no apologizing on behalf of our server and there was definitely lack of consideration on their part. It was my first mother's day and unfortunately, it wasn't enjoyable. My husband and I ended up eating in the car on our way home :(

Pros: the pretty fresh orchids on the tables

Cons: customer service, lack of highchairs/changing station

Jillian_UTexas

This place makes the best Thai food (the Pad See-Ew is incredible). They are kind of on the outskirts of the city, so you don't have to worry about long waits on the weekends. It's a gem in the middle of a normal shopping center.

Pros: Great food, no long lines, plenty of parking

Cons: Not central to the city

Ratings_icons L'Thai is my new love

Mikeroo

Last night, my wife and a group of ten friends took me out for my birthday dinner at L'Thai as they know I love Thai food. It was my first time there. Upon entering the restaurant, I was impressed with the decor, a big tree in the middle of the dining room, waterfall, a very peaceful ambience. The owner (I regret I forgot his name) immediately greeted us to the table-- talk about impeccable details with real orchids on the table!! And for the meal, it was MARVELOUS. Every bite was delicious?the Samui shrimp appetizer, the Tom Kha soup, and I didn't even expect the green salad to be that good. Having been to many Thai restaurants in the city, I have to say that L'Thai outdid them all with extensive food menu, wine list and beer list. The freshness of their organic ingredients and the dept of their curry flavors of Roasted Duck Curry had me not wanting to stop eating even though I wanted to save room for my birthday cake. We brought our own cake and for $10 cake fee, the server took care of the rest. However, they also brought me a complimentary homemade ice cream which was SOOOO GOOOD. End up everyone at the table ordered ice cream to have with their cake because they saw me enjoying it so much. It was, by far, the best birthday dinner I?ve had. Thank for L?Thai for making this such a wonderful birthday experience. See you soon!!!

Pros: Food, Service, Ambience, Value, Parking

Cons: Exterior, Location, but worth the drive.

Ratings_icons review of a review/ best Thai anywhere

jlkid

First, I would like to address the reviewer regarding: Worst Waiter Service ever. I was tooling around city search and wanted to see how L Thai was doing and came across this review. I and a coworker happened to be in the restaurant the day this event occurred and overheard the whole thing. The server did not at any time call him N or MF. I showed the review to my co-worker, we both laughed reading his review knowing what actually happened. Let?s just say that the guy lied. He should be ashamed that he left such a nasty review. Don?t take that reviewers comments to heart and keep you from going to L?Thai. It?s a wonderful, wonderful place with a very polite wait staff.
I have been coming to L?thai since the first day the doors were opened. Hands down it?s my favorite restaurant. Being a regular I can tell you the owner and staff takes great pride in their service and quality of fresh organic produce and meats. It?s unlike most restaurants today because of the care that goes into each detail of their operation. You can always find the owner on the floor going around greeting the guest. He?s always enthusiastic when you ask him about the organics they use or his recommendations for a dish. Needless to say I love it and feel so fortunate to have a restaurant of such quality in my neighborhood. Hopefully more places like this will follow and kick out all the chain junk.

Pros: Great all around

Cons: None

Ratings_icons Sorry, Surin I have a new love, L?Thai

jeffreyh123

I have always held that the best Thai cuisine in Atlanta was Surin of Thailand. Now, L?Thai has taken it to the next level. Fresh and organic is the theme, but the exquisite flavorful results make every bite special. For example, the Tod-Man appetizer served at most Thai restaurants is from pre-made frozen. L?Thai makes them fresh, which delivers a surprising fresh herb taste and just-right texture that makes them seem more like a treat than just an appetizer. The soft shell crab (best ever) that is available often is made lightly crispy and served with fresh vegetables and is available with a red curry or basil sauce (the curry is best in my opinion). Also they have a wide variety of wine (some organic too) and beers from around the world (some organic too). But that is not all. New menu items are constantly introduced whether traditional or derivative with the come theme of ?yummy?. All the high quality and exquisiteness is due to the pursuit of excellence by the owner and staff. L?Thai is a delightful and healthy pleasure that should be entertained as often as possible .

Pros: Best Thai Food In Atlanta

Cons: You may have to drive to Tucker to get there.

Ratings_icons One of the best in town!

eneref

Finding good Thai restaurants in Atlanta is often h it or miss. While Thai is a popular cuisine here, the number of bad or mediocre restaurants FAR outweighs the number of good examples. Of the dozens upon dozens I've been to, I can count on one hand the number of good ones.

It is with great pleasure, then, that I can add another to the list. L'Thai is an excellent example of Thai food done right. While its location is a bit far for the average in-towner, it's well worth the excursion outside the perimeter.

The ambiance is pleasant and decorative without being gaudy, and although the strip mall in which it's located is hardly indicative of fine cuisine, the restaurant itself is an absolute jewel.

I had a sumptuous red curry, and my companions had duck, chicken, and fish. The duck was quite tasty, and although the chicken itself was a trifle on the bland side, the sauce with which it was flavoured was superb.

Our waiter, Montri, was incredibly friendly and helpful, guiding us to lovely wines and offering his opinion on various dishes. Having seen Montri before at his own restaurant and prior to that at Tamarind before it closed, I was delightfully surprised and pleased. As always, he offered a consummate level of service and iced the perfect cake of an evening.

Do yourself a favour and check out L'Thai.

Pros: Excellent food, fantastic service

Cons: A long distance from civilisation

Ratings_icons Smart and Healthy!

pacsun488

This is my first review, but I've eaten at many Thai restaurants before. When I eat in a restaurant, I go by a couple rules before eating; 1: service, 2: cleanliness, and 3: food. When I went to this restaurant, referred by a friend, I got more than I expected. The staff always greets and treats me politely. The atmosphere is very soothing with the tree and waterfall. Oh, don't forget to check out the goldfish at the waterfall. Even they are friendly, hahah. The restrooms were clean; enough said. Most of the time I don't like to express my opinion, but this time I guess it wouldn't hurt. Food-wise, is where I'm most impressed. Any of the noodle dishes is a winner, especially the Pad Thai.
I wouldn't hesitate to refer this restaurant to more friends. I also have to commend the owner on this smart idea of combining Thai and organic foods.

Pros: Soothing waterfalls, great food and staff

Cons: -

Ratings_icons The Worst Waiter Service Ever.

kofiboadi

Waiters at this restaurant are the most uncouth I have ever met. On Thursday and Friday, the 21st of Dec I visited this restaurant with my fiancee. I left 3 dollars and some coins as tip on Thursday and left. On this day when I got to their restaurant their manager came to me in a very rude tone "what do you want?" that was his way of saying the usual "how may I help you please" I noted the disrespect but I politely responded to place my order as well as my fiancee?s. Note that, before then I had sat there almost 30minutes waiting for someone to come take my order.
Afterwards I left one dollar as a tip. I really wasn?t going to leave any that day because of the poor service received. We stepped out of the restaurant into the parking lot... then here comes one of the waiters "an older short man? with a very thick Asian accent yelling "hey.. hey ..hey.. you only give one dollar tip, yesterday too you give only 3 dollar tip that is not enough!
Am like what? Not enough! The audacity! You don?t walk up to anybody and tell them their tip wasn?t enough. First off I don?t HAVE to give a tip. And they should know a tip is a gift given if good and courteous service is received. You DONT demand a tip! And you DONT tell people their tip is not enough. You will not believe this waiter?s attitude in the parking lot. Very loudly, he started cursing at me... calling me ?MF? repeatedly and the N word. He came all the way up in my face and shaved the hand to beat me up. For what? That my tip wasn?t enough? It?s not even that I did not leave a tip. I did, he has come to beat me up, curse at me, and call me the N word because he claims my tip was not enough. This waiter claims I should not come back to their restaurant. I wonder what his owner will think about that. I will like whole world to know this. I don?t know what kind of standards they trying to build for themselves when their waiters go around attacking customers, threatening to beat me and calling blacks the N word.

Pros: NONE-Thier owner doesnt respond to customer complaints

Cons: The most horible customer service ever. Waiter demand tips and dictate how much tip they want. And fights customers that dont give them how much they want

Craving some *really good* Thai, I thought I would give L'Thai a try. It's not a short drive from where I'm staying, but after checking their rating with the H.D. ratings - they got a good rating, I thought, "Why not?" So, I placed my order and picked it up about 20 minutes later.

L'Thai is a mixed bag. I'm not into the whole 'organic' thing, and ordered four dishes. The 2 that stood out were the spring rolls (very good) and the Thai fried rice (good). What was NOT so good? The phad thai was a real disappointment. I have had *EXCELLENT* Thai food in Seattle and used to have a local 'hole in the wall' I used to go to regularly for some of the best Thai I've ever had. The phad thai didn't taste like it should. It was a congealed conglomeration that bore no resemblance at all to the true dish. I realize there are variants of this dish, but really - this isn't one of them.

The other dish I tried was their 'tempura' shrimp. Unfortunately, they were greasy and very dough-like. True tempura is hard to do - Yamashiro in L.A. has the best I've ever had, bar none, and this was the quality of typical 'mall' tempura of the kind you get at the food court. It was edible, but nothing I'd ever go out of my way to get again. Also, the grease tasted off, as though it hadn't been changed in a while. A deep fryer should be changed regularly and consistently - all the time - to do its job.

Also, the restaurant was almost EMPTY for a Tuesday night at dinner time. Good joints attract crowds all the time. Perhaps the kitchen was having an off night, but for what I got, I won't be going back again. My search for decent Thai in Norcross continues. You've been warned.

Pros: Fried rice was O.K., spring rolls were also alright

Cons: Phad Thai didn't bear any resemblance to the dish

I dined at this restaurant for the first time today, with a friend, for lunch around 2:30 p.m. I had read so many glowing reviews and I love Thai cuisine so much that I drove well out of my way to dine at this restaurant.

First, let me say that the staff is very pleasant and professional and that the spring rolls, Thai tea, and coconut chicken soup is delicious. For an entree, the waiter recommended the green curry over the panang curry and I went with his recommendation, which was a fantastic recommendation up until half way through my entree I spotted a long strand of some sort underneath a piece of the chicken. I proceeded to pull the strand, with my fork, and found multiple strands connected to a dead SOS (city search wont let me say the real word)!!!!!! The strands were the legs and antennas of the SOS, which was right there belly up, dipped in a very flavorful green curry sauce on my plate!!!

I was so disgusted that I couldn't talk so I gestured for the server and handed him the plate. He instantly saw it, apologized very quietly, and asked if I would like it re-made for me! Re-make the exact same meal for me after a SOS was stir fried in my first meal????? I politely told him no so he then told me that my meal would be free, which was obvious.

I am disgusted that his occurred and that I consumed anything associated with a SOS and I am also disappointed that the entire experience was not free! I have felt sick all day as a result and my lunch partner has been the same way. We should not have had to pay one single dime for this dining experience and should have been invited back free of charge but none of that took place or was offered.

I am so upset and devastated that I plan to be report this incident to the Department of Health first thing Monday morning so if you plan to eat there, check your food closely because the last time I checked, dirty, disgusting SOS curry is not organic, healthy, nor offered on the menu.

Cons: un-clean, xtra ingredients in meals that aren't supposed to be there

Ratings_icons Possibly The Best Thai In U.S.! Fresh, Organic Flavors That Speak!

jaymaygm

I've eaten at some of the best Thai restaurants, San Francisco to NYC. Mom and Pop, to high-end white tablecloth. How in the world, I'm the last foodie in Atlanta, to have not eaten at L'Thai is beyond me. Last night, we made reservations. And I must say, those fresh organic flavors are still lingering. The menu is just wonderful. In fact, I made our waiter leave it for us to read and devour, even after we placed our order. I knew it was going to be something special. The menu reads like an elaborate Thai cookbook. But the Stuffed Wings w/chicken, onion, garlic, and served with sweet pepper sauce, blew us away. As did the Calamari Tempura with sweet pepper sauce and pineapple. The flavors, the right amount of heat. No Tom Yum, or Coconut Soup here, but the Crab and Seaweed Soup was light and clear, clearing our palates for the entrees. First entree was a Crispy Basil Boneless Duck with fresh ground pepper, basil leaves, and mixed bell pepper. Best duck entree ever! And we also split the Ginger Grouper, that was crispy fried with fresh organic ginger, scallions and mushrooms. Absolutely nothing was left on the serving platters. The fresh organic flavors, jumped out and spoke to us. Just the best Thai meal we've ever had. And the owner, Peter Kong, stopped by our talble to make sure everything was fine. It was not fine, it was excellent. Five Stars from us. Service and attention to detail, was beyond par.

Pros: Amazing Organic Thai Menu! Service and Owner To Match!

Cons: Wished I Could Eat Here Everyday!

I work for Citysearch and I visited this restaurant two weeks ago. I took my girlfriend on a date (she loves thai food). This place has some of the freshest vegtables I've ever had at a restaurant. I ordered the flounder and she had the rama beef, both were delicious. I went on a monday so the place was a little bit slow (as is with most restaurants) and there wasn't many people working, however the service was still really good and the employees took the time out to even go over their menu and explain to us about authentic thai food.

I recommend this place to anyone who loves fresh and spicy food.

Pros: Fresh Veggies, Spicy Food with Taste

Cons: None

When I go out and spend money for dinner I always think. Can I cook this at home? What is the food value? What is the customer experience? I can't cook this stuff at home! The food value for the money is good! And the customer experience is awesome, in fact at the end of the meal you say WOW! When I spend my hard earned money for dinner at a restaurant I expect WOW and you get it here. Highly recommended and 5 star.

The food is excellent! The Thai tea is very refreshing. If you like calamari, it is highly recommended ( appetizer menu), and there is much to choose from on the main entrees, from grassfed beef dishes to poultry, organic dishes and seafood. My daughter and I had the shrimp, scallops and mussels with peppers and we both enjoyed it! I also recommend the fried bannanas as well as the mango ice cream for dessert. The atmosphere is calming, and the service is great! Highly recommended! We'll be back! This is a great place to go as a family or on a date!

Pros: Great atmosphere, great food

My wife is an amatuer restaurant critic and she gives this one full marks in all categories. The location isn't terribly convenient and not all that nice but inside it's an oasis. Feng shui astute appointments and colors match the wonderful curry dishes we enjoyed.

In fact, we were encouraged to try out their organic wine selections but they were not exactly what we wanted and, after trying a couple of their regular chardonnay's we settled on a very nice bottle for $17. What a great bargain!

I actually joined City Search so I could write this review which should speak volumes!

Enjoy!

Ratings_icons Best Thai outside of Thailand!!

costeinm

I normally wouldn't take the time to write a review of a good restaurant in Atlanta, since there are so many - but L'Thai is worthy of this effort. The food is fresh and nicely flavored - the best Thai food in town (since Tamarind is no longer around). As close to the food available in Thailand as I have had anywhere outside of Thailand. Organic and Non-organic options are available. The staff was very friendly and attentive - as could be expected by the people from the "land of smiles". They even were able to accomodate my request for Mango with Sticky Rice with the best Mango I've had in a loooong time. I recommend L'Thai for anyone looking for an authentic Thai meal with attentive Thai service. The beer and wine selection is also extensive and includes organic options. OUTSTANDING RESTAURANT!! I hope they expand ITP - but if they don't it's still worth the drive!!

Pros: Healthy/Organic Options, Service, Food Taste, Price

Cons: Location

Ratings_icons My favorite restaurant!

jdinlilburn

Our family does not eat out very often, since we tend to eat organic food as much as possible (probably at least 95%). Buying organic is a bit more expensive, so reducing the number of times we go to restaurants evens out the total monthly expenditures for food. When we do pick a restaurant, it is almost always L'Thai (if you don't eat out often, you want to make it count!). If you prefer to eat healthy food, this is definitely the place to go on the east side of the Metro Atlanta area. We tend to eat here at least every other week, and I have NEVER been disappointed with my food. My favorite dish is the Prix-Khing (either beef or chicken), which is served with grass-fed beef or free-range chicken (you can get organic for a slightly higher price), organic green beans, and your choice of white rice or organic brown rice.

The menu lists four different levels of heat for spicy entrees, mild, medium, hot, and Thai hot. If you really like spicy food, you need to know that you can order even hotter than what is listed. Thai hot is shown as four peppers. I have most recently tried five peppers, and will go to six on my next visit.

The ambiance is soothing, the food is wonderful, the staff is courteous and professional, and the owner is very knowledgeable about organic food. it is too bad that the available ratings only go from zero to ten - this place is off the scale on the high end - at least a 12! Almost without exception, people whom we have introduced to L'Thai continue to return for more.

As for the earlier entry about pushing the wine, we have never had that experience, and nobody in our family consumes any alcohol. The recommended wines are listed on the menu, but we usually drink water with meals (and this restaurant's tap water is filtered prior to serving).

Pros: taste, ambiance, wait staff, organic cuisine, very reasonable prices

Cons: none

Ratings_icons Best Thai food in Atlanta

I am very surprised to read Charlie500's comments about hard sell on wine. I don't drink and my boyfriend rarely does and we didn't experience so much as a blink when we ordered thai iced tea and green tea. There was not a moment of pressure to order alcohol based on my experience. Wine suggestions are included on the menu for each dish but as a "foodie" I appreciated this effort on the part of the restaurant.

I can highly highly recommend the seafood green curry. It was delicious. My boyfriend had a beef dish but I was too wrapped up in the curry to notice what he ordered. He took my last scallop and it ticked me off! We shared the basil spring roll as an appetizer and it was wonderful! Delicious and delicate and savory.

The waiters were pristine and attentive but melted into the background. They gave us a little time after the appetizer and then promptly cleared the dishes and brought our entrees immediately. Water and tea was kept filled without the waiters being obtrusive. It was a very romantic date and after our meal we sat and talked and we were given the space and time to do this without feeling that we needed to vacate the table. We were not at all rushed. This was about 7 - 8 pm on a Friday night.

I can't recommend this restaurant enough. It is where you would least expect such a dining experience to be - I think of strip malls as chain restaurant kind of places but L Thai will surprise and delight you well beyond your expectations. I lived in Tokyo for a year and I learned what "real" Thai and Chinese food is. Now I have a real Thai place in the Atlanta metro area. Am still looking for a real Chinese place.

We decided even before we pulled out of the parking lot that this would be "our" place. If the relationship doesn't work out (it will) I will still make this my regular place.

Pros: simply excellent in every way

Cons: outside the perimeter so in-towners will have to drive 10 miles

i did not appreciate the hard sell i received about matching wine with my food. as a non-drinker, i expected to be able to say no thank you once and have that be it. as for my food, the pad thai was unpleasant at best.

Ratings_icons June 2008: Hope that things aren't changing for the worse...

georgiapeach211

We've been going to this restaurant since it opened, and it has always been one of our favorites--but we had an experience last week (June 2008) that makes us wonder if the service/quality might not be what it once was. We had been traveling and hadn't been to L'Thai in quite some time. When we picked up an order last week, we spent quite some time at the counter just waiting to be acknowledged. When we got home, we were very surprised to find that the entree portions are much smaller than they used to be. What used to be a really good deal seems to be a bit expensive now. The food is still good, but it wasn't as good as we remembered. Even the owner's demeanor seemed to have changed. Hope that it was just an off night...

Pros: food still quite tasty

Cons: portions have gotten smaller

We come here now regularly enough that the waiters recognize us. The food is incredible and I love the vegetarian options and very inexpensive. They also have a great wine menu --- which is an unexpected treat since many Asian restaurants have the same old Kendall Jackson/Beringer wines. I have been to all of the high end Thai restaurants in this city (including Nan and Tamarind) and L'Thai is entirely on par with both but at half the price. I am always surprised that it isn't more busy. An undiscovered gem!

Pros: Everything! The food is fantastic

Cons: None

Ratings_icons Amazing Thai. Outstanding Service. Great ambience. A Must Dine!

Days after eating, my wife and I are still talking about this experience. Few restaurants combine outstanding food with service, and L'Thai does this to perfection. My wife and I were visiting Atlanta (we're from Nashville) and wanted to celebrate our anniversary. I made reservations several weeks before coming and when we did arrive we were treated like royalty (actually even better, like family), remembering it was our anniversary and we had driven a long distance. We have a 1 yr old daughter, who was a little irritable after the drive (so much so that my wife took her into out car so other patrons wouldn't be disturbed after our appetizers were served). Anyway the owner saw that the main entrees had arrived (I was eating alone) and asked me what car I drove, went to the parking lot, asked my wife to come in, and actually held our daughter calming her down while we ate! Talk about service (even the waitress took my daughter around the restaurant (beatifully decorated and stopped at the waterfall with fish making my daughter become content). The food was also superbly prepared. Highly recommend the chicken satay (the pieces were succulent, not dried out like most other restaurants). The 3 flavor fish (ours was snapper) was also out of this world. The shrimp fried rice was one of the best fried rice dishes I've ever tasted (and I'm a big fan of fried rice). The staff also surprised us with a lovely custard and rice desert for our anniversary. The only thing I hate about this restaurant is that it is located so far from our home! (Believe me, I tried convincing the owner to set up one in Nashville). All this and knowing everything was healthy (every ingrediant organic and freshly prepared) really put the exclamation point on this experience. If only other restaurants could learn that good food can be healthy as well as how much effect outstanding service has on the customer. Thanks again for the experience L'Thai, hope to return soon!

Pros: Treat you like family. Superb food. Romantic setting. Great service

Cons: there's only 1 location (far from my home in Nashville :) )

Excellent restaurant! Tucked away in a shopping center off Lawrencville Highway this restaurant provides excellent service and food without a "Buckhead crowd" or a two hour wait. I recently dined here on a Friday night. We walked in about 8 PM without a reservation and were seated immdieately.
The decor is charming and romantic. The menu has a great selection of food and wine recommendations are listed with each entree/dish. Try it! You will like it!

Pros: Good food and wine, reasonably priced

Cons: Ugh... can't think of any!

I wanted to surprise my husband on his bday, his first one since our marriage. so i requested LeThai to make it special for me, and trust me they did. They gave me a nice corner table near the waterfall, served up a complimentary dish of thai rice custard and even sang a bday song for him with candles and all...needless to say my husband was thoroughly impressed. Thanks so much Pithya and LeThai. My suggestion is make sure you taste their wine (awesome variety) and their desserts (each one of them is great). If you havent been to the place yet, you need to do so real soon.

Pros: great service, personal attention

Cons: cant think of any right now

Great ambiance, good food. Variety of choices for vegetarians. Wine lovers should definitely try the Organic wine, it was fab. Pad thai is not the best on the menu, I suggest the curries and the tempura appetizers.
