Our breakfast, lunch, dinner and special events menus offer the very best combination of two truly sumptuous worlds: traditional South American fare and New Latin cuisine. We prepare our food with authentic ingredients, some imported exclusively for our signature dishes. The extensive wine list showcases more than 70 fine New World wines. The restaurant embodies classic Latin elegance. It encompasses two levels and 6,000 square feet of bold architecture and festive decor. With an eye toward Austin's commitment to protecting the environment, Latin Cafe Austin created a green restaurant. Expansive, full-length windows on both levels extend the diners' experience of this relaxing tropical setting. Discover for yourself why Latin Cafe Austin has been lauded by restaurant critics and devoted foodies as "a whole new continent of fun and flavor."

The Scene
Stylish young diners look right at home against all the rich design details of this sleek, voluminous space. Bamboo floors, beautiful walnut woodwork, a collage of glass and silk panels behind the bar, a dramatic hand-washing station by the bathrooms: It's obvious a lot of cash and thought went into the appearance. The overall effect is slick, yet warm and comfortable. Servers are jovial and only occasionally clumsy in execution.

The Food
Similarly, an acute attention to detail emerges from the kitchen. From the tapas menu, anise-tinged quail is tender and juicy inside, crispy outside. Sauteed calamari swim in a smoky ginger-miso broth with asparagus. Steaks, cooked precisely to order, are topped with any of five rubs, including a spicy apricot. Lobster, from the sushi bar or kitchen, is the restaurant's signature entree, but the sea bass, buttery and rich, is much more of a bargain.

Great Drinks!

by tewligan

The cocktail selections at Silk are amazing. On several occasions I've tried different drinks at Silk. Most recently, the Forbidden City Fruit Punch, Silk's "East Meets West" Sangria. I was told the secret ingredient is Pomegranate juice. It's unbelievably delicious, and packs quite a punch! The wine selections are even more amazing. Some types I had never heard of, for example Torrontes from Argentina or Viura from Spain. Obscure as they are, they seem perfectly suited for the cuisine. Many selections by the glass also!

Excellent Food and the Best Hamburger in Town

by arollin

I have eaten at Silk several times both for lunch and dinner and each meal has exceeded expectations. The fish dishes have wonderful robust flavors that you often dont see in many of Atlantas other fusion/Asian restaurants. However, the best find at Silk is the burger for lunch. The kobe beef burger, while not cheap, is the best burger not just in the city but anywhere. It comes on a traditional bun and is served with cheese and a marinade that is outstanding. Go out of your way to try this burger, it is that good.

Pros: Excellent Food, Beautiful Inside, Great Atmosphere

Cons: Poor vallet service

Best in Atlanta

by kim_ethridge

My husband and I travel and have had some of the best meals in the U.S. But we both recommend Silk above the others. We went this weekend again and he had surf and turf and I had Kobe steak. Everything was fantastic. The apple dessert is to die for.

tasteless & anything but fresh

by fairyfish

Silk advertises fresh...however; fresh is far from what they serve.

The crab legs tasted like sawdust and were obviously previously frozen for awhile. The Sea Bass which at a recommendable restaurant would have been light and flaky...was like an old rubber shoe.
Not to mention the portions left alot to be desired for the price.

The atmosphere was aesthetically pleasing but so loud you couldn't hear the person in front of you.

The service...two people supposedly waiting on us...
The drink server didn't show up to offer us a drink until the food was in front of us.
After my boyfriend finished 2/3 of his cocktail the server removed the glass without permissioin and then never showed back up to offer another!

Not eating but a few bites of our horrible meals we left hungry with $130 less and a memory of the worst restaurant experience in Atlanta!

Cons: loud, slow, tasteless

Service is NOT a priority...

by jlh25

The management and owner are extremely rude and do not grasp the simple philosophy of "customer service". They are more intent on making you feel like a second-class citizen that should be thankful to have stepped into their establishment and presence, as opposed to ensuring that it's a pleasurable experience. Highly disappointing and just plain appalling. Bottom line - DON'T GO and tell your friends/ enemies not to go!

Ps if you order a dish that tastes like crap, be prepared to be told by the manager that its your fault b/c you didnt read the menu or ask questions. If the menu had read seafood is not fresh and will taste every bit like its been sitting at the back door for a week..I would not have ordered it!

Pros: location, parking, decor

Cons: Management, Price/ service, Small Restroom

Not impressed.

by jw9465

It sure was nice to look at, but of 2 of 10 orders in our group were wrong, 1 was just bad, the food (which took forever) was nothing spectacular, & the handwashing station was impossible. Just not worth it...

Pros: quick seating, separated bar

Cons: value, tiny portions, bad group seating

Disappointing experience

by scw

I dined at Silk last night with a group of 10 20 something girlfriends. We were looking forward to going to Silk because we heard good reviews; however, our experience was rather disappointing. The service was ok, but the food was very slow to come out and one of my friends actually had to get up to refill her own water. I had the Seared Tuna and it was good, but would have been better catergorized as cooked tuna, only a very small area of the middle was rare. It was not a good value for the price of the food, there are many other resturants in Atlanta that are much better.

Pros: Trendy decor, Good location

Cons: Expensive, Mediocre Food

Excellent food

by lililadaga_citysearch

Silk has a very NYC/L.A. type of vibe--late dinner reservations (ours were for 10:30pm, a sleek and modern space, and the patrons are mostly young and hot. The bar area is separated from the dining area by a low wall and draperies hanging from the ceiling. You can smoke in the bar area and besides the bar seating, there's an open space with couch seating and table. At dinner, our server was quick, helpful and pleasant, despite the fact that we had a large group. Everyone at our table enjoyed their entrees, which included a varied range: chicken, sushi, steak, seafood, etc. The wine list was excellent as well. The only element that was a little off-putting was the volume--it's a wide, open dining room with high ceilings and concrete floors, so when the room was filled, it got fairly loud.

Pros: Separate bar area, fantastic food

Cons: Loud, Valet only

Extremely poor food and service

by flu33ys

The food was frozen, not fresh as described by the waiter and the hostess/manager confirmed this when we complained. The crab legs and lobster tail were dry and tasted much like old rubber in addition to the portion sizes being miniscule. Also, The two-server system they use is very ineffecient. Our food waiter was very polite and offered great service, but the drink waiter was nowhere to be found. It took 15 minutes to get our first drink and that was after we asked for it. I sat with an empty drink glass for the rest of the night despite repeated inquiries.

Our legitimate complaints were not accommodated by the Manager, nor did she offer to substitute the dishes for something else. The ambience was ok, but it's simply too loud. Save your $ and hit another spot... I know we'll never be back.

Cons: Service, Food quality, quantity, Too loud

Disappointed

by lesken

The crab coquette- excellent, spring rolls- mediocre, wok tossed calamari- awful. The lobster bisque, yuk. Three of us ordered lobster after server recommendation. In addition to being scammed on the price (were told it was 4 pounds and we were charged for a 5.5 pound, a difference of nearly $40), it was not great. Were told it would be partially removed from the shell, it was not. I don't mind paying $140 for a lobster dinner, I do not expect to have to shell it myself for that price. On the positive, one person ordered the lamb and was very pleased. As well, the Mt. Fuji Apple was scrumptious! We had two men that were serving us, one very well intended but not very good, and another who seemed disinterested in what he was doing. We had to ask for refills three times and were given the wrong drink twice.

NY in ATL

by bomeekim

This dining experience was well worth every dime spent. I started out with a large party and the hostess was more than understanding about it's continuing fluctuating numbers. I highly enjoyed the lobster bisque, Kobe steak, and the sushi was to die for. I will most certainly come back to Silk sometime in the near future. Service and food were both outstanding. The ambiance just added to the whole experience. A wonderful modern day restaurant in a comfortable atmosphere.

This place is a visual feast as well as a gustatory delight! Steaks like you've never had before because you can customize the flavor with special 'rubs'. I like the blue cheese one. My favorite sushi is called Out of Control. Its spicy tuna rolled in rice then topped with smoked eel with a drop of Hoisin sauce to sweeten. mmm.

Pros: free parking
