It's a nice place, it's a shame they are so dishonest. I love the HD spray tan, but because it is so expensive, I only use it when I have a buy one get one free coupon. I always think I have one free session left when they tell me I do not, so I started keeping track of it. I tried to go today & was told I have no sessions. I asked her to give me the dates, & one if the dates she gave me I was out of town. Then she told me i used my last session on Aug 11. Looking at my bank statement, I can see where I purchased one on 8/27, with a buy one get one free coupon, which I was saving my free visit for a special occasion (this weekend). They do not even have a record if me going that day! Unbelievable. The poor girl working the desk was swamped, as they always are when I go in, & didn't know what to do. So she is going to have the manager call me next week. Next week, meaning you can tell they really value their customers! There's always a help wanted sign up too. When you can't retain employees, what does that say about management?

They are the worst! The owner tried to pass these reviews all off as the customer's problems. That attitude and the number of negative reviews should tell you something! They do not keep their word to anyone! They made a deal with us to cancel my sister's membership when she was diagnosed with cancer! She may be dying this year and all they care about is getting their money. And for what? It isnt as if she received some product or service without paying for it! Her membership cost them nothing! They made a deal with us to pay some of it and keep it off her credit and cancel the contract. Then they sent a lawyer after her. The lawyer told my sister she didnt care she was dying, getting that money before she did was more important! She actually said that!

The worst part of it all she read a bunch of terrible reviews before going but ignored them. She said she figured they were just people upset for no real reason. DONT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE!

Planet Beach at Brier Creek strives to give great customer service, a clean spa, new and innovative equipment, and several types of packages that offer choices for everyone.

We have wonderful customers and it is a pleasure seeing many of them on a daily basis. We have been seeing some of those same faces for almost 7 years now.

When reading through some of the negative reviews, it is mostly contract related, so I feel it is important to help reviewers know the facts.

Yes, we do offer a membership option in which you sign a contract. This contract cuts your price in half by commiting to more than a month, if your goal is to use our services for more than just a month. We also have many other non-membership options, such as single sessions, group sessions and paid in full packages. Our goal is not to pressure you into anything outside of your comfort level, rather to show you all that we have to offer and let the customer decide which is best for them.

If a customer tells us they want to become a member to take advantage of the cost savings, we happily sign them up. At that time we explain that there is a $50 fee to cancel their account if doing so before their membership terms are up. This is because the rate is discounted, so they are still ahead, if they use their membership for a couple of months. If they have fulfilled their terms, there is no cancellation fee. We do require a 30 day notice to cancel, in which you have full access to use all of your services within that time, we just need notice to process efficiently. If a customer would like to freeze their account when it is not in use, we explain that there is a $5 charge to do so for the months that are not in use. This allows you to go back to the full amount, when you are ready to use are services again at a later date. We are very up front about all of the terms and ask the customer to sign if they agree to the terms. We right away give the customers a copy of their paperwork, which also outlines the terms in writing that I just mentioned.

We do require paperwork to become a member, to freeze or to cancel. This is to eliminate mistakes and make sure all of our processes are completed properly. Without these guidelines, it opens room for lots of errors and we want to do it right.

Most of the negative comments are from people that unfortunetly, are not abiding by their agreements or owe us money.

We will always correct a mistake if we make one, and we will do our best to work with customers.

Once again, we offer many types of packages, and please do not hesitate to ask as many questions as you would like - for clarity or comfort.

Terrible customer service and a HUGE SCAM!!! Owner will not talk to you at all and manager has no clue what shes doing! They can not keep employees! The one they do have stay on their phone texting all the time and hardly pay any attention to you at all. I got charged several months after freezing my account. The owners husband actually told us not to worry it would be handled and then denied he even spoke to me!!! Very rude! Now I come to find out that it has been sent to collections without even contacting me. I did close my cc account so they couldn't continue to charge me for the wrong amount and I told them that I would pay $5 for every month that I had left in my contract and they told me no.. I was being over drawn b/c of their lack of counting!! Save your money and don't bother! It's not worth the hassle!!!!

Gosh, all of these horror stories are true -- I just learned that after my 1 year contract, I go month to month -- even though I called to cancel. After getting a letter that I could be turned over to a collection agency, I called and was told that I have to come in and cancel in person -- things I was never told when I signed up. They are totally inflexible.

There is NO customer service....they DO NOT care about the customer after they get your money!! Jenny NEVER said anything about a 2yr contract...we only talked about a 1yr contract but because my card was declined I assume what I had signed was voided.
She had the paper work with my credit card info, I had to leave the store but said I would try to come back with cash or another card!! Sounded like to me we would have to fill out another form when I came back. I was not able to return so 2 days later Jenny called back asking if I was still interested in tanning and my form was still LAYING around with my credit card info. I advised her to just rip it up and she said she would.
2 weeks later I notice my card had been charged twice. So when I went in to the store, Jenny remembered me and our conversation..said she would call the owner and TAKE CARE of this for me. She went in the back to call the owner, came back and said sorry, they advised you signed a contract and they will maybe cancel it and waive the 50.00 fee.
The manager did NOT honor her word......period!!! Customer service is so important today and everyday....the customer should ALWAYS be treated with respect......they are YOUR bread and butter!

I went to Planet Beach in Brier Creek VERY frustrated ! I have a medical condition that required me to either take chemo for a second time or to give a shot at tanning. When I arrived there nervous and scared because tanning was not something that I had ever done or believed in, one of the owners was there to lend a very kind hand. I was given pros and cons to tanning, they understood my situation and they were very educated ! WOW that was incredible I would have never thought that someone would have understood me and took the time to help me make the right decision for me and my health. When stepping back and considering the other option it was going to be NO more expensive for me to go there and tan than it was for me to go visit the doctor every month and pay for chemo. I went to Planet Beach in Brier Creek VERY frustrated ! I have a medical condition that required me to either take chemo for a second time or to give a shot at tanning. When I arrived there nervous and scared because tanning was not something that I had ever done or believed in, one of the owners was there to lend a very kind hand. I was given pros and cons to tanning, they understood my situation and they were very educated ! WOW that was incredible I would have never thought that someone would have understood me and took the time to help me make the right decision for me and my health. When stepping back and considering the other option it was going to be NO more expensive for me to go there and tan than it was for me to go visit the doctor every month and pay for chemo. They wouldn't let me make appointments that were convenient with my schedule. I tried the Planet Beach at Brier Creek. The staff was very pushy and they tried to get as much money out of me as they could. They weren't listening to my needs. They tried to sell me something that was 80 bucks a month for TWO years. I just needed a little color for a trip i was going on with a few of my girlfriends. They did not mention any other way of tanning except for these two year memberships. NOT IN THIS ECONOMY. I knew i could get just a few sessions because the crabtree location informed me of this. They are liars and scammers. The owner is very rude as well. HORRIBLE customer service, way overpriced, non-welcoming atmosphere, and the beds always had fingerprints all over the top of them.

I moved to Raleigh a few months ago to the Brier Creek are and was excited to know a tanning salon was so close to me. I went in and tried out the beds and they were great. But when I asked how much the packages were I couldn't believe it. I moved here from Chicago, and even tanning out there isn't this ridiculous! I found a tanning salon around the corner with beds that aren't as crazy looking, but the quality is just as great and the price is HALF. If you don't mind shelling out an insane amount of money to stand inline for a spaceship looking bed this place is great, but shop around, you will find places just as good for a fraction of the price. This place s a chain, so of course they are going to charge you an arm and a leg.

I signed up last year around July 1st. They made it clear that you were to sign a EFT contract or else. I did convince them that I would only sign up for a year. The price immediately went up $5.00 per month. Well, I changed jobs and no longer went past this location anymore. I continued to pay monthly fees because you can only freeze the account if you go in and sign paperwork. (Palm Beach never made me do this!) I didn't go for months and then last month decided to go back. I paid all my fees thorough my contract end. That's where the trouble began. The owner at BC location input the info incorrectly. Then I went to the location at Edwards Mill to use my contract-they gave me the biggest hassle. I spent a lot of time and energy trying to figure out reciprocal and non-reciprocal contracts and being told basically that even though I paid money through June-I couldn't tan. I am talking like $200. They have given me the run around at both locations and corporate office. No one wants to give me my money back. I couldn't be more disappointed with this company as a whole!

I called immediately and found it was only put on hold for one month and that the new hold policy was only three months per request. I do not know why it was only put on hold for one month. I spoke to the manager (the same one I had originally spoken to) - he spoke with the owner. I called the headquarters. The only solution was that they would give me back half of what was taken. HALF!!! I don't understand why I was being penalized for employee mistakes. 1 - they need to make sure the employees are explaining the contracts properly, 2 - I did not use the service for those two months, I should have received a full refund BEWARE OF THE CONTRACT, 3 - two monthly fees ($80) and an additional $50 to cancel - so in total I paid $130 to cancel my contract.

I tried the Spa Bed, then a bed that gave me a facial then I went into the Mystic Spray Tan booth. It was so relaxing! I loved it. My skin looked so good after the treatments. Went to Planet Beach to inquire about their packages and the clerk was quick to push the EFT membership on me, ?If you sign up as a member you?ll have monthly tanning for ? the price, all you have to do is pay the $70 initial membership fee.? Explained I did NOT want them to automatically draft my checking account for this membership, which she stated ?no problem just call us by the 25th of every month to renew.? After tanning for 1 month I was surprised to see an automatic draft from my debit account for $39.95. I didn?t sweat the charge since I thought I could probably use one more month of tanning. No big deal, I?ll just cancel my membership the following month since I?m moving anyway. Went to the store last week to cancel my membership and was told I would have to pay a $50 cancellation fee, along with another $5 to freeze my account (it takes them 30 DAYS to cancel a membership)! Looking back at my contract I noticed this was written in FINE PRINT, but when I originally signed up the eager clerk NEVER explained the terms of the contract: 24 mo. membership fee (who on earth tans for 2 years every month), automatic debit from your checking, $5 a month to freeze your account (which is not applied to in store credit, other local tanning salons allow you to do so), $50 cancellation fee and a 30 day notice to cancel. I don?t thrive on confrontation and am not one of those people to yell at an employee of a store to get what I want. I simply explained I was cheated into this contract and didn?t think it was fair for me to have to pay the $50+ cancellation fee. The clerk who didn?t explain the contract should pay at least ? of my fee. They wouldn?t budge and kept saying ?it?s in the contract.? Yes you have that contract to protect you but wrongfully cheating your customers will only get you but so far in the business world. To get out of my contract I just paid a portion of their electric bill, $65 out of pocket. Don?t trust these people, they are sneaky to get your $.

I can't say enough positive things about this tanning spa - from the cleanliness of the facility to the courteous and well informed staff. I have been especially impressed by the visability, kindness and professionalism of the owners. They have always treated me as though I mattered - not just as a client but as a person. I've been a member since they first opened the store in Brier Creek. I now tan at the North Raleigh location. I've had a great experience with all the personnel at both locations. Once there was some confusion over my account and billing and I found the staff and ownership eager to help me resolve it. They were great!!!

The atmosphere is comfortable with the upscale surroundings I like but for the most reasonable prices you'll find anywhere. Planet Beach had exceeded any and all expectations I ever dreamed of, quality service, quality products, and the best staff in the business. The atmosphere is comfortable with the upscale surroundings I like but for the most reasonable prices you'll find anywhere. If you haven't stopped by to check them out I highly recommend you do, I feel confident you will have a great experience. Whether it's relaxing in the hydration station or using the newest in high pressue beds..you will not find better service, products, or friendlier staff to make sure you are a satisfied consumer. Planet Beach and the staff are the BEST!!

I've been going to Planet Beach for about a month now. Besides the beds being great the customer service is outstanding!! They always remember my name when I walk in the door and no other tanning place that I've been to does that. They take appointments or walkins and do a good job with getting everyone in quickly. I HIGHLY reccomend it.
