As a hockey player, the facilities are poor. Locker rooms are outdated and unheated. Pretty big deal to come off of the ice sweaty and undress in a cold locker room. The ceilings in the locker room ceilings look like they are asbestos lined and unfinished. There is no hot water for the showers, which is bad because I usually have to go to work after playing.

The ice stinks. It is poorly cut and uneven. Ive seen the ice get so thin that the playing lines were exposed. The boards are uneven and in many places are unfinished (incompletely built). The coaching and instruction is among the worst available. But, the Management is indifferent to the feedback that they receive. The rink has ZERO customer service. They treat everyone as though we gotcha . The communicate poorly and completely disregard their clients respectful requests.

These problems are precisely why they recently lost an entire adult hockey team to Extreme Ice. This is also why they lost an entire league (A) to Extreme Ice a year ago. This is also why they lost the entire Curling League. This is also why they are losing youth hockey players to Extreme Ice. This is also why their Adult Learn to Play hockey program failed miserably. I noticed the trend and believe I ll also spend my money where it s wanted...at Extreme Ice.

Business Response:

FACILITY - Locker rooms are heated, but players must keep the doors closed for the rooms to remain warm. Showers are hot. Hundreds of players shower every week, and they are not taking cold showers. The material you see on the locker ceilings is sprayed on fire retardant – not asbestos. ICE QUALITY - The ice at Pineville is well maintained and not in the condition stated. We provide ice daily for youth travel teams, advanced adult players and competitive figure skaters. In just the last 12 months, our rink has hosted USA Hockey regional and national tournaments, US Figure Skating regional events and the Charlotte Checkers. We continue to be a venue for these demanding customers. YOUTH HOCKEY - Youth hockey continues to grow in Pineville and has over 200+ participants. The Pineville Falcons compete and win against teams from around the Southeast and the United States. INSTRUCTION - We have 40+ hockey coaches and figure skating instructors on staff with credentials from USA Hockey and U.S Figure Skating along with professional, collegiate and Olympic experience. ADULT HOCKEY - Pineville has 32 adult teams and over 350 players across five leagues. In early 2013, a team disbanded after a losing season and was immediately replaced by another team. This is not an uncommon event in adult league hockey. Pineville has 75+ beginner and novice adult players in year round classes, clinics, pickup sessions and the developmental league. CURLING - The curling club left Pineville several years ago because ice was not available in the time slots requested. CUSTOMER SERVICE - Our business depends on 3,000+ regular customers that demand and receive good communication and good customer service from our staff, coaches and instructors.

Horrible. Worst customer service. Dangerous, dirty and poorly maintained facilities. Hockey programs are poor. I'm surprised they are still in business. They are losing tons of kids hockey and adult hockey and curling to Extreme Ice.

My son and his friends love the Fri/Sat night scene. Flashy lights, music and lots of teens from Charlotte and Ft. Mill schools. The new owners have fixed up the place. Best improvements are new bathrooms, new rental skates and beer at the snack bar.

My softball team had there team party here and my school had a school night here. So this place is a place where you can go out and have fun every if you bust your behind on the ice.
