I was referred to Dr. Nyarko at Desert Valley Pediatrics by my ob/gyn and he is amazing!! Over the past 6 years (wow, I can??t believe time has flown) I have seen Dr. Nyarko for well visits, vaccinations and sick appointments too. Honestly I have never had a complaint with the Dr. or any of the staff I have dealt with. The office can get busy at times but I have never had to wait too long. Once I even called on my way when my daughter started having an allergic reaction. They got us right in and hooked up to a breathing treatment in less than 5 minutes. Today I was driving home from a sick visit and I realized how grateful I am to have solid child care I can rely on. I was flustered with a crying sick booger and Dr. Nyarko calmed my 3 year old son down with affection and kindness and taught him about what he was looking at and why. I can say I will always take both my children to Dr. Nyarko.

Wow, how nice to know that I am not alone in my NEGATIVE opinion of Desert Valley Pediatrics. My 1st complaint would be about Dr. Perez. I've notice many others feel the same way. She has a horrible "bed-side-manner". My daughter even said, "Mom, why does she talk down to us as if we are stupid?" (daughter is 15 y.o.)
The next, and almost fatal error was when my daughter was experiencing flulike symptoms that were severe enough to take her in to see Dr. Nyarko. After listening to her heart, pressing on her belly etc. He diagnosed her with the flu & prescribed bed rest & fluids. My daughter only got worse over the next 24 hrs. I wound up taking her to UMC quick care for. 2nd opinion where they rushed her via ambulance & sirens & all to UMC for a ruptured appendix where she nearly died due to the fact that it wasn't caught by Dr. Nyarko only 24 hrs prior. She was in intensive care for 5 days with 9 machines hooked up to her. Then another week in the pediatric wing. How much more devastation could a lil' 8 year old go through except it was all over x-mas break including X-mas day. I insist that nobody trust Dr. Nyarko's skills. He just goes thru patients as if they are replaceable objects. Horrible. I love Dr. Blank, not sure if he's still there though.

I just had my son a month ago and my Gyn recommended Dr. Perez. When my mother and law and I went to see her to do my babys circumcision we were very dissapointed. She wasn't friendly or ask questions about the baby or new motherhood. It was just like we were another patient on her chart. She seemed annoyed that he cried so much. Even though I'm sure other baby boys cry just as much through a traumatic procedure. Perhaps she was having a bad morning, but both my MIL and myself didn't like her from the start. Pediatricians should be friendly and get to know their little patients. I changed his doctor to dr. Greenspan, she saw both of us after delivery and I know I already like her

Dr. Buford is the best!! She takes her time and listens to your concerns and truly cares about her little patients. I love the fact that she will call to check up on your child when need be and takes the time to make sure you get your referrals in a timely matter. Thanks Dr. Buford!!!!

I am writing in regards to message posted by Jill R on 6/28/2008 about her treatment at Desert Valley Pediatrics. First off this incident did not happen at a Desert Valley Pediatrics office and the police were never called. We have not been associated with the office located at 10001 S Eastern Ave since September 2006. That office was taken over by another physician at that time and was renamed.
I am the office manager with Desert Valley Pediatrics and I have never or would never demonstrated the kind of behavior that Jill experienced.

Today my daughter took her son to Desert Valley Pediatrics. (SHE HAS SHARED CUSTODY WITH HER X HUSBAND) and when she arrived they pulled his file up on the computer and stated "YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO BRING CHILD IN AS YOUR EX HUSBAND HAS A RESTRAINING ORDER ON YOU" My daughter had already paid the $20.00 co-pay, and tried to explain that there is NO RESTRAINING ORDER and to make this story short....
the office manager when to push my daughter and ended up hitting my 8 year old grand son and then threw his orange juice across the room. My daughter asked for the co pay back since they would not see my grand son, they stated it would be on his books for his next visit. I AM SURE THE DOCTORS AT THIS OFFICE ARE UNAWARE OF HOW THIS OFFICE MANAGER SCREAMED,HIT ALL IN FRONT OF THIS 8 YEAR OLD BOY.
THE POLICE WERE CALLED, ANOTHER PERSON IN THE OFFICE CAME DOWN AND EXPLAINED TO THE OFFICER THAT MY DAUGHTER WAS NOT AT FAULT AND THAT THE OFFICE MANAGER IS KNOWN FOR THESE ACTIVITIES. I DID NOTICE THE OTHER COMMENT FROM MARCH OF 2008.
WE WILL BE FILING A COMPLAINT WITH THE MEDICAL BOARD AND WHEN I CALLED TO GET THE $20.00 BACK, THEY SAID NO!

Time Management - their appointments are booked because everyone wants to see them and the office packs them in. Doctors take their times with the family and patient, which is what we like!;
Cleaniness - i usually keep my office neat for the next guest(s), they for some reason look like they have no time to do it, but I know they do, if they could be on a personal call or cellular during work offices, meaning taking care of customers, patients..;
Medical - so far, no referrals out for my kid, they handle everything and have backups or other alternatives;
Staff - very unprofessional, some. They rather talk personal about their day or night, or family than attend to organizing, cleaniness, helping, filing, updating records, contacting insurance companies, doing followups and sending out correspondence that their Sienna office is no longer available.
Hours/Location - yes, that is why we picked DVP, b'cuz of the convenient hours and locations.
NOTE: I've been to other offices whereas the pediatic offices were smelling clean, look clean, furniture still in tack, blinds in tack, reading materials available, but some guests/patients destroy these items, POST signs PLEASE WATCH YOUR KIDS FROM DESTROYING OUT SHARED MATERIALS for your wait.
I've been recommending Dr. R Hyun and Dr. W.

We actually visit the Summerlin office and the dr's are nice, the staff is nice, but they are way to busy and always run behind. It's great if you don't mind waiting around an extra hour or 2.

My youngest daughter was bit by a dog in May of 2005, after the traumatic ordeal at the hospital, she needed to be checked up on by a doctor.

We were new to the area, and didnt have a pediatrician. The hospital recommended DVP and I went into see Dr. Misch. He was a saint!!! He helped my little girl avoid infection and discussed various treatment options for the stitches and ways to avoid long term scarring.

These guys are on their game.. Highly recommend!

I found Dr. Hodapp because my Ob/Gyn recommended him to me. I got very lucky and he was the Desert Valley doctor on call at the hospital the day I had my son. He loves going to see Dr. Hodapp. We have had great experiences with most of the doctors in the practice like Dr. Hyun, Dr. Misch, and Dr. Alazard. The only doctor we avoid is Dr. Lamott because she always prescribes the most expensive medications and I did not like her professional manner with my son.

The only problem I have and why they are not 5-star is that recently they changed their office hours. They used to offer all-day walk-ins for sick children until 7 pm and have done away with this. The walk-in policy worked great for children in families with single-parents and working-parent homes. Now I have to hope that when my son get sent home sick from school that there is an available appointment at the location nearest me. I really wish they would reinstate the walk-in policy.

PROS: Great doctors!
CONS: No more walk-ins for sick children.

I take both of my kids to the Sienna office to see Dr. Hodapp. I love that clinic. The people are always nice and we do not have a long wait time. Dr. Hodapp is an awesome doctor and he doesn't rush you. You can ask as many questions as you need to and he doesn't make you feel like you are wasting his time. I will continue to see him.

because of a certain doctor. Dr. Ana Chauhan is one of the very best doctors I have taken my son to. My son has seen other doctors at this facility and she is by far the best. I am unhappy that this facility has changed a few policies that initially made me chose this location (open 6 days a week and no appointment nec for sick kids - these has both since changed) The pecos location is close to my home and there are usually same day appointments available if you call at 7am for a sick child. There is usually at least a 30 minute wait and the waiting room is not in tip top shape, but the continuity of care that my son recieves outweighs each of those cons. I have been temped a few time to seek another doctor, but only because of long wait times at some appointments.

PROS: Dr. Ana Chauhan
CONS: Long wait times and Cleanliness of waiting room

A doctor you can trust!!! My preference is for Dr Hyun but all of the doctors on staff are excellent. The offices are only open Monday through Friday but offer same day appoitments. They accept most forms of insurance. If you do not have insurance you must pay an $80 deposit. These people have my fullest support!!!!!

This office is always busy. I chose them because they used to be open 7 days a week and did not require appointments for a sick child. Now they changed their hours and are basically like the other pediatrics offices. They are always pretty busy and you are in the office for at least 2hrs. They do have seperate waiting areas for sick patients vs well patients. The staff is ok, not super friendly. You can make an appointment to see a specific doctor, but if your child is sick, then you see whomever. My daughter's primary is Dr.Perez and we really like her. I know a lot of other people who see other doctors on staff, but we still prefer Dr Perez. She gives you the info you need and doesn't jump to prescribe antibiotics for everything.

PROS:
CONS: no books or magazines in the wait room. Not open 7 days

This is a really great practice. They don't keep you waiting too long, and you get to keep the same doctor for your child every time you go; I've been to other pediatricians where this is not the case. The staff is friendly and efficient. The doctor doesn't stress you out about every little thing with a newborn. My children and I are very comfortable with this practice. I'd recommend it in a minute.
