I give Five stars  5 Star Rating - World class

I have to start by saying Two Guys Autoplex are petty cool, and staight foward guys, unlike many other places.
I moved in the nieborhood about a year and a half ago.
Within that time I've tried maybe 5 different places to have repairs done and also to get an inspection sticker. 2 of them even processed a failure report on my car, and it's truely nerve recking when you find yourself at the mercy of some jerk who's tring to make a few extra bucks off you, and they know if you don't get the sticker you'll wind up with a ticket or 2. In my case 4.
After dealing with those jerks, I had taken a friends advice after venting to her, and tried having the car inspected now for the 6th time, but this time at Two Guys Autoplex.
Well I like I said those guys are petty cool.
They not only inspected and passed the car, but in order to do so they needed to offically remove by computer and phoning DMV the failures that the other stations had reported to DMV. Thats something they didn't really have to do, but they did, and Im true grateful.
See,,, there was nothing wrong with my car.
They only mentioned possibly getting an oil change at some point since I havn't done one in 9 months. Thats how long the sticker was dated.
But anyway, I just wanted to tell you my little story.

Thank you for everything.

All around good guy's  5 Star Rating - World class

I have never come across a shop quite like Two guy's Atuoplex.Really, all around good guys. Their always on their toes, and really looking to actually please the customer. Not like the others places that always seem to have an attitude.Anyway, just figured the least I can do is return the favor by writing a little something, since they have done more favors for me than you can imagine, and without even asking me for a dime. Now that's a great attitude to have towards business!!!!

Happy to hear  5 Star Rating - World class

I found Two Guys back in 2002, when I had a business myself in Greenpoint. When I visited them for anything on my car they always seemed to be on the ball and more than helpful in many ways. The manager at that time was a fellow by the name of Stephen, who pretty much ran everything. I saw he really cared about everything and everyone. That's someone I wish I had working for me when I was in business. He knew how to treat the customers, and you can see his concern for pleasing the customers. He actually came to pick up my car himself from Manhattan, and the same for my neighbor Lisa. Well, I had resently returned after moving away for close to 3 years. About 4 months after my return I pulled into Two Guys needing to have a repair done, that I had ignored for a some time. I had gotten a bit nervous when I hadn't seen Stephen anywhere. I was afraid he was no longer there. But after asking around I was told he is now the owner of Two Guys Autoplex. You don't know how happy I was to hear this, for this is well deserved. I never met someone quite like him anywhere. He and the guys always done fine work, and I had seen how fast he ran around and how hard he tried to please all the customers, but unfortunately at that time his hands were somewhat tied. At the time, him not being the owner and all, he couldn't offer as much of what he felt was needed, in regards to discounts, or even offers to the customers to show such appreciation for their business. When seeing him, I spoke to him on this, and I just had to write something. Oooo,,,, by the way, my car is fixed, and once again, I couldn't be more pleased.
Stephen, if you are reading this, keep up the good work, and thanks again.

Finally found good people  5 Star Rating - World class

I'll start by saying Two Guys were the fourth place I needed to visited, before geting a NYS inspection on my car. All the other places tried ripping me off by telling me there were so many things seriously wrong with my car, one place told me it would cost $765.00, were the 2 others places had said it would cost somewhere over $1000.00. But what the funny thing was, each of them had told me something different was wrong with my car. After the third time I both laughed and cried.I felt there wasn't anything wrong with my car. So I went for not just a second opinion but a fourth to Two Guys Autoplex.
I finally found cool guys, I mean really good people. I was shocked.
I'm not one to rave about certain people when the situation arises, maybe thats a problem, and I should start to say something, because after my visits to those other shops and seeing how they operate, I really need to give credit where and when credit is due.
Bottom line is, I did have a problem, but one that was really nothing and only cost me $28.00. One head light was not working.
OK,, I know there was problem, but not what those other places were saying.
My opinion, thier a great find, and they have me as a devoted customer.

Pretty good  5 Star Rating - World class

Two guy's autoplex is a pretty good place, I have never had a complaint when going there.Anything I needed done on my car was done and done well, and for rather descent price. I usually call around to compare some prices, and I found Two Guys to be either averaged priced or in many cases quite cheap. The only thing about the place, which isn't really their fault, is when you first get there with your car, there's not much parking outside in that area, the street is packed, although, they come out rather quickly to move the car inside for you. But, other than that,, nothing.
Their alright by me.

I made the right choice  5 Star Rating - World class

Hello people, I'm a satisfied customer of Two Guys Autoplex, not for very long but long but for at least two years, enough to realized that I've made the right choice.See,,,, I've been to many places in the past, and always some how got the shaft, or just simply got ripped off.But at Two Guys I've always felt at ease, I felt that I mattered to them, whether I was even spending any money or not. When ever there had been an issue with my car, I was taken into the shop, where I was shown and explained everything on my car.I just feel this repair center has not only many services to offer a customer, but an offer that truly stands out is of one that's more personal. The way they take care of their customers, How each of them are just as important as the next. This is what I have seen during my visits there.OK,,,, I believe I'm rattling on now.But anyway I could never see myself going elsewhere.

Guy's, my appreciation  5 Star Rating - World class

I just want to say "THANKS" to Two Guy's Autoplex for helping me out of a tuff situation. If it wasn't for them I would have been screwed by a shop in Williamsburg. My car died under the BQE. It wouldn't re-start, and the cops told me I had to move it off the street some how. I thought that it was fortunate that it had happened across from a shop, they can fix it and I'll be on my way. After being given the price of $1600.00, I opened my laptop and search for someone else.I called Two Guy's Autoplex they sent a tow truck immediately, and took care of the problem for $188.+ towing and tax. A lot better then that other place.I should of thought to go there from the start being I do my oil changes and car wash there. To show them my appreciation I've chosen to have them install the navigation system I have always wanted.Well, now I know where to go in the future for anything related to my car.
Well appreciated.

The best in town  5 Star Rating - World class

I can't help but rave about this place. The guys there are really cool and honest, which is really hard to find these days. They took care of my car so many times, it ain't funny. I have brought my car there in such bad condition due to either, neglect, or pretty much, abuse.
But they never looked to take advantage of me or any of the situations. They were always cool about it, and tried to fix only what must be done. Which was alright by me, since I'm currently a student, and don't have much money to be spending on anything other than whats really necessary, I also appreciate that fact that they were straight with me on their opinion that I should get rid of the car, and get one thats in better condition.
There truely the best in town.

Fantastic Service  5 Star Rating - World class

You can imagine the angst one gets when finding that their windshield has been shattered and to then to have to deal with finding a reputable repair shop. I found Two Guys Auto by scanning the yellow pages. The professionalism I experienced was wonderful! They're open early, the staff is extremely helpful and very pleasant as well. I've already begun recommending them to my friends and intend on going to them for regular car maintenance. So, I guess something good came out of having my windshield broken afterall.

DO NOT GET YOUR CAR INSPECTED HERE  3 Star Rating - Satisfactory

took my car here to get inspected and they said my car needed new struts and a complete tune up because it failed the emissions test. i was pretty sure there was nothing wrong with the car so i sent my husband to pick the car up without getting their suggested repairs, which they wanted to charge me $740 for. When my husband picked up the car he asked for the emissions report. The guy got sketchy and said they didn't have it because the machine was broken. Hmmmmm... pretty sure they didn't even look at the car.

Liars  1 Star Rating - Unsatisfactory

I have to agree with the people who posted negative comments. We took our car in for inspection and were told that we needed new brake pads. After receiving the car back, the brakes squealed loudly. When we went back in, we were told that the brake pads were damaged by the manufacturer and that this happens. Nice to know we drove around with broken brake pads right out of the shop! We had to wait hours until the new brake pads were in, you would think these two guys would hurry in a case like this, but no. Same thing happened when our steering froze in cold weather. They told us we needed a new rack and pinion. We got that. The problem remained. We went back, they said we needed new steering fluid. So, they put in a new rack and pinion, but didn't bother to replace the fluid. We waited, they replaced it. The problem remained. Upon our third return, the owner said we may have old debris stuck around the steering rack. Why no one noticed this when replacing the rack, I do not know. This time around, the problem seemed gone. But only after we had to wait for the car for three more days. Every time we called to find out the status there was a new excuse. We could hear the owner's voice in the background, but were told he isn't there, etc.
The owner, Stephen, is definitely an "explainer". He likes to talk and will initially make you feel like he is including you in the process. But he fed us so much BS, in the end we realized this is his MO. Another infuriating tidbit: while we waited for our car (for hours at times) in the waiting area, we overheard Stephen showing off about how he's going to pretend that he's not there when so-and-so (a dissatisfied customer) calls! Unbelievable. Stay away from these dishonest people.

UPDATE on 10/3/07: In my story above I mention the issue with the steering. What I didn't know yet, is that the car would make incessant noises when we steered it all the way to the left or right. We drove the car, despite the noise, for the past 9 months as is. Today, I bring it to inspection with another mechanic. Immediately he notices the noise in the steering. His reaction was "Who did this? It's put in backwards!". The verdict? Another $400 to remove the previously installed rack-and-pinion and reinstall it correctly. He thinks we should sue Two Guys, for endangering our lives. Thanks, Two Guys, for charging us almost 2 K for bad work and putting our lives at risk!

And one more thing: notice how some of the positive reviews on this site are EXACTLY the same as on Citysearch.com, even posted in the same order. What coincidence! I wouldn't be surprised if they wrote their own good reviews.
Really, I cannot stress it enough: do not trust them, they are not trustworthy mechanics. Whoever still goes there after reading this: good luck. You will need it.

Not a Happy Camper  1 Star Rating - Unsatisfactory

Diagonstic and possible repair on a Ford van was promised before closing on Sat. Nothing until Monday afternoon, then can't fix and we owe over $500 cash, no credit cards. Get payment policy and cost of repairs before using these 2guys.

Do not go here.  1 Star Rating - Unsatisfactory

Two Guys is the worst. I have to agree with what was said below about shoddy work. I had the same experience, my car was more "broken" after I brought it to these guys than before. Read the post entitled "Liars" below, by someone named Baby Z. I wanted to cry when I read it, because it pretty much mirrors my experience. I only wish I had found this site before I went to Two Guys.
I don't feel secure in my car now and will go get it checked out elsewhere. I'll never go here again.

fast service  4 Star Rating - Very good

They guys are super quick when it comes to repairs. I had to have my brake pads changed and they did it in a flash! I dropped off the car at 1, and cake back later that day to pick it up. Now my squeaky brakes are whisper quiet! I love it. The service was fast, and cheap. I'd recommend.

Top notch  5 Star Rating - World class

Over a period of maybe 3 years I must have passed Two Guy's Autoplex 1000 times but never knew they were there. I don't know why.I'm blind or pehaps they need to get larger signs.
But last year is when I found them. Really I just went in for a car wash, and I saw they do just about everything automotively imaginable.
Since I found them, they have been a big help in many ways.
It wouldn't be a problem if I had I money for a new car, but I don't.
So I need to keep this one going for as long as possible, and thats what they have been doing for me, and suprisingly with such honesty and concern. First of all, they found the problems I've been experiencing, that other shops weren't sure of, but what really shocked the sh-- out of me ,was to hear that I shouldn't be bothered investing money into certain areas of the car that are old and are worn.
They have been, like one of the other reviewers said, staight up people.
If a repair absolutly nessecary, they'll tell you, if not they'll mention that you may consider either to wait on it, or then look for another car. Like myself, I have about another year with mine, because of the severe signs of wear in the motor, due to having over 230,000 miles.
I think thier top notch.

Ok  3 Star Rating - Satisfactory

I went in for new brakes because mine had started to make a funny noise and I had seen a commercial for a $30 brake job. What a lie. Not really knowing all the ins and outs of car repair, I believed them when they said that my pads needed to be replaced. No problem. But then came my rotors.. which cost $80 a piece. Hmmm.... plus labor. So the bottom half of my car is torn apart and then.. they find my calipers needs to be replaced.

My new place  5 Star Rating - World class

I just moved to brooklyn 8 months ago, finding myself searching for everything all over again, like a good dry cleaner, health store, restaurants. If it wasn't for citysearch I would be going in and out of stores all day.But I'm not here to review citysearch. I am here to speak briefly about a place I had found to service my car.I must say that all the positive reviews I've read about Two Guys Autoplex is true. I had seeked their help after finding their great reviews on citysearch. They were more than helpful, they were real people, not like other places I've been to in the past, including a couple in willamsburg.I needed a NY state Inspection and no other shop would give me one without trying to hit me up for few hundred dollars.I don't have the money right now, so I looked online.Found Two Guy's and drove in. Best choice yet. They pointed out a couple of minor things, but they said I wasn't anything to worry about. Well the story goes that I got my Inspection and a free car wash, but most importantly a place I can trust and rely on. When I have the money I'll be visiting them for many different things I've been looking to do, like finally doing that oil change that my father keeps bugging me about, and maybe have them detail the car while their at it. It's really filthy. Thanks Guys.

Honesty is the best policy  5 Star Rating - World class

I have to start by saying I have a 1988 Volvo with over 200,000 miles.
I first went to Two Guys back in 92, for oil changes and car washes, beeing my car was relitively new nothing else was needed. Over the years things ofcourse needed tending to. Some maintanance, a repair here and there. The car is old now and it has seen better days and now its time to get another car. I'm not sure yet, new or used, but I have a little time to deside. I want to show thanks to these guys for being honest with me. They told me straight out the car is not worth it, get a car you can depend on without needing to make such repairs so often. I have seen in these people, something you don't see every day. Not anywhere, at least not anymore, especially in any type of service center. The guys there accually look to help you. You don't know how many times I've stopped in because of some noise I heard, were they checked it out weither they found something small or nothing at all, and they didn't charge me a dime. I guess good and honest relations keeps such patrons like myself returning when needed.
Anyway thats all I really had to say.

Straight up people  5 Star Rating - World class

I'm going to make quick.I've been to many places, in the city, and there always seems to be some problem, some how.But the first time I ever went to Two Guy's Autoplex, I was amazed at how they take the time out for every customer. It made no difference what the customer was having done. I mean I watched them and their really thorough with everything they do, from the diagnostic to the explanations, and I've seen their straight up and honest. O.K.,,,,,,sometimes to honest. But that fine. Believe me I need someone I can trust. You would understand if you saw my car. And the idea of a free car wash is pretty cool.

set the story straight  5 Star Rating - World class

I have been a customer of Two Guys for over 10 year, and still going to them for any problem that arises with my car. Now, I have tried many shops over the years, and by far they are the best. I have found that they are truly the only shop that takes the time on a vehicle to properly diagnose the true problem, and really explain it to the customer, and not just me. I've over heard other conversations But not only that, they look to explain why it happened and even showed me the damage. I understand there are many people that simply don't like the fact that there may be a problem with there car, perhaps it's because it means spending money. I know, at times I feel the same way. But its your car, and maintenance and repairs must be done at times. I'm just glad there is place I can really trust
