I have been seeing Janet Miller who is a PA there for a few years and never had a problem. She was very good. Then once I got pregnant, I had to start seeing the OB. Well I wound up seeing 3 of them and never had a good feeling about any of them. My appts were always switched and I never felt like I was being fully taken care of. I had a bad feeling the entire time of my pregnancy about the practice but didnt wanna go through the hassel of switching so i just dealt with it. I always had to wait a long time to be seen, and i would make appts with a perticular dr for a reason and they would wait till i got there to tell me that they were not there and i could reschedule or see another dr. I had alot of aches and pains and was always told they were "normal" . They forgot to update my chart so for 3 appts in a row they would tell me that I needed the same test done. They are horrible at returning phone calls, and the entire time i was pregnant, i always felt like I didnt know what was going on. They never explained why certain tests were done, or what they were checking for at each sono. I just felt clueless the whole time. They were too layed back and careless now that I think back to it....It kills me to say that at my 30 week check up, I was told the baby had no heartbeat and there was no fluid. They let me leave there, by myself, while I was crying hysterical (not to mention that I almost crashed my car like 3 times on the way home) After the whole thing was over and I was back home from the hospital, I called to ask a question because I was concerened about some heavy bleeding and clotting. Well, the dr didnt get back to me for an entire week. And to put the icing on the cake, she asked me if it had stopped and i said yes, she continued to say "well i wish you would of called when it was happening and not told me now that it stopped" She apparently never got the message, she was only calling me to give me my blood test results! I told her I did call 3 times and the receptionist made me feel like i was crazy for calling again and she just said oh well there are so many people that work here, things get a little mixed up some times. sorry I didnt get the message...I am DEFINATLY not going back. Only god knows why this happenned to my baby, but i just cant help thinking that if they would of been alittle more concerned when I was there 2 weeks prior and complaining of severe back pain (which is one of the symptoms of the cause) they could of maybe done a sono or something, anything that could of prevented this. Regardless, after this experience, I would never recommend this practice to anyone!

I have been a patient of LIWHC in Merrick/Bellmore for 20+ years. The Doctors and staff have always been kind, compassionate and professional. When I call I always get the informaiton I need from either a nurse or a prompt call back from a Doctor. The offices are very clean and neat which is very important to me and my family. I have recommended all of the Doctors to friends looking for a new OB/GYN office. I love the fact that they are now offering many cosmetic procedures as well. I have always found the Doctors to be on top of latest information and procedures in their field! HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Good luck!

I WAS a patient at the Bellmore office for the most part. They delivered my 1st child 3 years ago and although frustrated with wait times I stuck with them out of fear of changing during my pregnancy. I am now pregnant again and began seeing them this time around as well. I was immediately turned off by the Dr's complete lack of personal attention! I was told that if one of the only two Dr's that deliver were not available when I went into labor that a strange Dr from another practice who I have never and would never meet would deliver my babyAnd when I expressed my dissatisfaction with this I was told "Unfortunately this is just how it is these days" That was it for me! I immediately found a new Dr and never looked back. They were never available by phone either and usually had to place 2-3 calls to get a call back. Do yourself a favor, don't bother There are much more caring docs out there who really care about their patients and their well being! OH and they are very into cosmetic procedures now which seems to be what they care about more and where the money is.

When you are pregnant you want a little more special attention and care and they are either not willing or not capable of providing either of these things.

I've been going to LIWHC for the past 10 years, and up until 2 years ago, everything was fantastic. Dr. Nathanson was my primary doctor, and was always very on top of things and very thorough.

Last year I had a miscarriage. After the sonogram, Dr. Gates walked in to the room and replied, "Your baby has no heartbeat, you can choose to get a DNC or wait for it to pass." This obviously was no way to deal with a patient who was pregnant for the first time. This was all said in the same breath.

I'm now currently 5 months pregnant and have been dealing with the absolute worst office service. I work in pediatrics and I can't believe the level of unprofessionalism this office has aquired over the years. I would say that 9 times out of 10, I don't receive my call backs when I leave a message for a doctor. Three times since I've been pregnant, they didn't know I was there, and started the office visit with the wrong diagnosis. I've never waited less than an hour for an appointment. They called me in to the office because I was severely dehydrated and sick (while pregnant) for the second time and made me wait three hours to be seen. They did a quick urine dipstick test and sent me to the hospital. They called me half way there to tell me to turn around and go to a different hospital.
A few weeks ago, one of the doctors told me to come back in two weeks to get my blood work done. She insisted that I do the work there and not at the lab. When I came back in 2 weeks, that doctor was not there, and the office gave me a difficult time about getting it done and almost sent me home until I threatened to leave the practice and cancel my appt.
A week before my 5 mnth appt they canceled an appt I had for a month. The day of my 5 month sonogram (the big one, where you find out if it's a boy or girl), they canceled my appt and made me drive to Mineola to the Madonna lab there. When I got there, they had the office's info...they had no idea when my due date was, thought this was my 3rd pregnancy, and had my last mens cycle date (off by a month).
They have taught me nothing about pregnancy. What I should eat and not eat. They never told me what any of my tests are for. They have been miserable to deal with and we are transferring out this Monday. I really stuck with them so long because I was delivered by Dr. Nathanson. But the professionalism in that office has dwindled to nothing. Dr. Nathanson has rushed me out of every appt since I've been pregnant and seems to think that my questions are trivial.
I highly discourage joining this practice...especially for your first pregnancy. Everything I know is from word of mouth and the internet.

I have been going to this OBGYN for a couple of years. I always felt a disconnection with Janet Miller CPA.
On my recent visit and mostly all visits ( this being the 3rd and final one) I was asking some new information about my new birth control, she responded and made me feel inadequate like I was asking completely ridicolous question. I feel like whenever I ask her a question I am made to feel like my questions are meaningless and more like " WHY WOULD YOU ask that?"
No one should feel like they are completely stupid in a with a doctor, when the patient has no prior information about something you can't expect a patient to know this type of information. I felt angry that this obnoxious CPA ( not even a doctor) was making me feel uncomfortable.
In addition to that the office is poorly run, the nurses are innapproiate, you ask one thing they send you someone where else, they don't listen to you. They act like you are bothering them and they just don't care.
The whole 3 visits at their Bellmore location I usually waited 1 hour - 1 1/2 an half easily. This was due to her "surgeries" she performs. Which are along the lines of liposuction.

I am on a mission to find a good Gyno. that won't treat me like I am a freakin idiot.

LI Women's Health Care used to be a typical OB/Gyn practice. The practice started getting bad when they jumped on the "women obsessed with youth and beauty" bandwagon and started doing botox, liposuction, vein treatments, laser hair removal, etc. in the office. I just want a Gynecologist! If I wanted those other things, I would go to a dermatologist or plastic surgeon! I have found another Gyn, who only practices Gyn.

I have been a patient of LIWHC for several years and have seen how the practice is getting worse and worse. My daughter was delivered by Dr. Nathanson and I was hoping for him to deliver our second child only to find out that he is no longer delivering. I am already over 5 months along and wasn't even told that only 2 doctors are on call for deliveries and if neither is available I will see a complete stranger from a completely different practice on the day I go into labor. I had only found out by chance when mentioning my first innocently at a recent checkup. I have waited SEVERAL hours for both OB-GYN and Sonogram appointments and the office staff could care less. This practice i s no longer what it once was and I am now looking to find another practice as we speak!

I have gone to the office in Bellmore 4 times - each time I waited over an hour and a half to see the doctor. The office is completely disorganized, and when you do ask when you are going to be seen, they always tell you "you're next," but then proceed to call back more patients ahead of you. Also, two of the times I went there, the nurses didn't even realize I was pregnant (even though it was on my chart which they had in their hands, and I was there for specific appointments related to pregnancy AND had confirmed the pregnancy in that office on my second visit).

The only reason I continued to go through my 4th appointment was because I needed to get my ultrasound results. When I complained to Dr. Glasser, instead of trying to persuade me to stay, she blew me off and could have cared less about what was going on with me and my pregnancy. There was very little care put into my visits there, and my husband and I were very dissatisfied with the level of care we were receiving. I have since found another doctor who was appalled at the level of care I received at Long Island Women's Health Care. Anyone who is pregnant should not have to sit in a waiting room for over an hour and a half to see their doctor, or to get an ultrasound done - and neither should ANY patient for that matter. When you're pregnant you shouldn't be stressing out about a doctors appointment and when, or if, you're going to be seen because the office can't keep themselves on schedule. I highly suggest looking somewhere else for another doctor - do not go here.

I THINK THE OFFICE IS VERY WELL MADE AND THE STAFF IS GREAT, THE DOCTORS TAKE THE TIME TO ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS YOU MAY HAVE, AND THEY RETURN PHONE CALLS EVEN WHEN YOU NEED THEM AFTER THE OFFICE CLOSES.

I have been seeing Dr. Phillips for a few years now. He is pleasant, as are the other employees there. BUT, the office is so disorganized. Most recently, I went in for my 6 month check up and I needed a new RX for birth control. First, I was prescribed the wrong one, but I had to get it bc I wanted to stay on my pill and be safe - though it did cost me $20 more than usual. Then when I call to get the right RX (the generic, thus cheaper, alternative), two of my calls went unreturned. So, I had to call a friend who is a doctor and ask for him to prescribe the generic pill. He prescribed something else that was a generic (Trinessa) but not the one I had been taking, and this pill made me very sick. I know, from the side effects, that I had to switch back to my old pill. Finally the third message I left was returned - probably because I was pretty irate at this point. No one was apologetic and didn't seem to care that 1) My phonecalls were not getting returned and b) (more importantly) I felt terrible and would continue to feel terrible until I can switch meds in two weeks. I will be looking for a new obgyn. This place is way to disorganized and makes too many mistakes.

The staff and physicians at Long Island Womens Health care are very friendly and caring. They are conveniently located and offer extended hours for those who need evening hours. They do accept several forms of insurance but also have reasonable prices for those who aren't covered.

PROS: satisified overall
