It's a restaurant during the day and a bar/dance floor at night. There's two floors, the bottom is the bar and lounge area, and upstairs is the dance floor. There's also a bar upstairs, but it's more crowded than the on downstairs. The dance floor has fans on the ceiling, so it never gets too hot. DJ's are the BEST! They play the best of current hit songs. Ladies get free cover before midnight and guys get free cover before 11pm. This is a great place to meet up other groups, or to bring a big group because it gets a little cliquish. Affordable drinks and very good bartenders. I went there for my 21st birthday and I still rant about how great it was...a year later!

PROS: great gathering location for groups, fantastic music mix, to die for drinks, FREE COVER

CONS: none...

I have only been here once, but what a great experience! We got free appetizers (Wednesdays) and amazing Phad Thai. A long happy hour kept us happy too!

Great decor, ambiance, service, bar. But the food wasn't all that authentic. Maybe they were catering to the average Seattlite/white person who likes "Asian" rather than Asian. I was with a group of Chinese and no-one liked their entrees; especialy at the price they charged (price ≠ quality). I did like the happy hour : appitizers (chicken skewers with peanut sauce) and the drinks.

The bar is great, but the food here is questionable, at best. None of the waiters looked old enough to serve our drinks, and they seated us next to the VERY COLD entrance to the restaurant next to the door. I have no idea about the night scene, as it seems to constantly change, so it's hard to want to go back when you have no idea what to expect. The bathrooms are clean and nice, and I can appreciate that.

I was in last week and the bartender recommended this new beer on tap called Pandan Ale. It's really really good, I haven't seen it anywhere else. Look for the Buddha tap handle.

Wandered in mid-evening on Saturday. Seated immediately and the waitstaff were all highly attentive. There was no pressure to get our orders and food and get us out the door. They let us linger over our drinks, our appetizer and our meal. DEFINATELY try both the White Cherry Kazi and the Gingertini, not to be missed. The most tasty thai food I've had in a while in a very cozy romantic location.

There used to be a decent crowd of people in on Friday nights after work, lately, however, it seems that the Toi crowd has just disappeared. Unfortunately, the staff remains as hurried and impersonal as any busy bar in Belltown. The food is of great value and quality, especially during happy hour, but all things considered, and without a patio, there just seems to be no draw.

Authenic recipes thanks to Max's mom ! Max owns the bar around the corner. They are not skimpy on the chicken like most places...and it didnt taste like the cheap kind either. Some places use Ketchup in their dishes and this place does not. I love the red walls and warm atmosphere and friendly staff. Good drinks. It was crowded but that makes it more fun. If it was empty I might be scared.

I went there last Friday for a couple of drinks and stayed their for hours! It's a convenient location near my workplace and they have good deals. I went there to join my friend's Happy Hour party and even if it was really busy, the staff was still nice. My drink for the night was what they called the Mandango... it was yummy and their crab puffs w/ cream cheese are to die for! I'm going to try to go for dinner next time.

Toi has a great happy hour (the crackling prawn rolls and kiew crab are my favorite and a bargain) that extends to 8pm on thursdays and into saturday. I've met some interesting people there. The bartenders are friendly and the asian decor is striking. Street parking can be difficult, but if you look east of fourth avenue - you have a better shot.

My wife and I visited Toi for the second time Saturday evening. We were hoping to have Houdini serve us a couple of Hangar 1s with a twist of lemon and enjoy the Happy Hour appetizers. Unfortunately, Houdini wasnt there when we arrived but, since we liked the food, we came in anyway. The experience however, was horrible. The food was still good, but the manager spent the entire hour we were there complaining to friends about the staff and all of the things that she had on her 6 page list to fix. It was very uncomfortable to sit at the bar and listen to her complain about her employees. To top off her tirade, she announced to her friends that shes quitting in October to move to Hawaii and open a PF Changs. As it stands now my wife and I dont plan on returning to Toi.

I went to Toi for the first time a few weeks ago with a few of my girlfriends for happy hour on a Thursday. The ambience was wonderful, staff beautiful and the food delicious! What was really cool too was that they had a DJ start at 7pm. I was really impressed at how down to earth and friendly everyone was from the hostess who seated us to the manager who spent time discussing our day out shopping! Make sure you try the coconut prawns and the Lychee Martini and Belltown Passion.

I go quite often for happy hour and every time I think the same thing. I absolutely love the drinks and food! Great prices for happy hour and the drinks are definitely worth going for! The service can be really slow, but the bartenders are always really nice and they make the best specialty Toi martinis! Try the Zentini! The Crackling Prawn rolls, the satay and the spring rolls are too die for and the ambiance of the place is very mellow, yet fun. Everyone I take there loves it and it's not usually too packed on the weeknights. It's such a mixed crowd as far as ages go. I've seen anyone from their late 20's to 40's there! I Love Toi!

I went to Toi a couple of months ago with a friend from work and not only was the food terrible, but also the service was horribly rude. I would not consider the food thai, at all - maybe bar leftovers would be more like it. Would not recommend this place to anyone. Would you ever go for good thai food in a happening bar where 16-18 year olds hang out? I don't think so!

A friend brought me here, and I have recommended it to many people ever since. The atmospere is very unique with bright red walls and dim lighting. A very swanky place to have a good cocktail and meal. The crowd that frequents the place isn't too hard on the eyes either!

We had a large party reservation. The service was slow but we were having fun. After 1 hour we were told we had to leave in half an hour! We hadn't even received our entrees yet! The waiter was very rude and unaccomadating. Who gives a large party only an hour and a half to eat especially with slow service. And they gave us the wrong bill then accused us of not paying. We never can get ahold of the manager to complain. Only the hostess was nice. We'll never return.

I went for the first time during happy hour on Friday. The bartender is amazing as I cant remember the last time I was drunk after only 2 martinitis. The food was beautiful (while the portion were small) -try the dancing tiger prawns or the sweet and sour chicken. By all accounts avoid ordering fried springrolls -unless you want to be overpaid for the same stuff you can find in you grocers freezer. I've heard that the crowd is beautiful but found this only applys to tois club events.

Like the Bada Lounge Toi is a trendy watering hole for good looking 20-somethings and 30-somethings to see and be seen. Unlike Bada it's off of the main strip so depending on your preference for locale its midtown location could be a pro or a con. But there's no ignoring the sexy atmosphere inside the club.

I have been to TOI twice. On my first visit, when I asked for a vegetarian version of a salad, they put fish sauce as the dressing.

On my second visit, they put shrimp, after we had categorically asked for vegetarian food. When we complained, we got another dish with guess what, shrimp in it. They had taken off the shrimp from the dish we returned and just thrown a few vegetables on it. Bottom line is that they don't understand the concept of vegetarianism and what it entails. They did take care of the entire dinner bill to make up, but the whole experience was bad. I shudder to think how they must cook vegetarian food in the kitchen.

The drinks are wonderful and the mango w/sticky rice is the best. But if you are a vegetarian please go elsewhere.

If you're not into the bar scene, get here early or you may want your to get your Thai food elsewhere. Servers and bartender are nice, food is not bad but really it's there to keep the liquor license. If your in your 20's to early 30's, want some decent food that's not a burger, want to party and don't mind lots of smoke, Toi is your place.

I went in last night for Phad Kee Mao. It was easily the best Thai food I've had since I moved here from Maui in 1998. (Apologies to Jai Thai and the other Thai restaurants that I frequent.)

The atmosphere is great for a romantic evening out. The service was exemplary.

Treat your tastebuds to Toi, I know I'll be returning very soon.

This place was such a joke. I'm originally from Seattle, now living in SF. Went to Toi and the crowd was so damn cheesy. The guys had so much gel in thier hair and the girls sooo much aqua net and cheesy clothes. Then the doorman acts like he works at the most exclusive club. I'd never go back, the crowd is too damn cheesy and trashy. The bartenders were nice and fairly quick service for such a busy bar.

Bad for large groups of people. I went before prom with 15 other people and they charged a flat fee of 32 bucks per person and everyone left hungry. For 32 bucks no one should have left hungry. The food was pretty tasty, but everyone got a sampler size amount of each dish. It was also very dark in the restaurant, and loud.

What can I say? Toi is simply one of the best restaurants in town! It has everything...sexy atmosphere, funky music, fabulous well-priced food, and excellent service. I took my family there for lunch recently and was personally served by the owner, Max. He was most gracious and knowledgeable about Thai food and its preparation. Their Phad See Iew (sp?) is the best I've ever had....a place not to be missed!

The only redeeming quality of this restaurant is the food. It was very good. However, the quality of the food, does not excuse the worst service I've ever encountered. They brought the wrong food to our table 4 times and gave themselves an 18% gratuity (we had 6 people in our party) I wanted to deduct money when the credit card slip came back.

I hope the owner's of Toi's get the message before they're put out of business by their employees.
