Editorial Description by Citysearch
In Short
Eatery's design is spare: High white ceilings, a cement floor and green banquettes. A small, well-populated bar sits off to the side. The New American menu is well-suited for snacking. Comfort foods abound, with dishes like baked macaroni and cheese, jerk chicken with mashed sweet potatoes, garlic roast chicken and a chili-rubbed pork chop with polenta. Desserts include cheesecake, warm chocolate cake and an ice cream sandwich with whipped cream.

Great Brunch  4 Star Rating - Very good

By Anuschka B. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 9,097

We went to brunch here and it was very fun. The neighborhood isn't the prettiest, but the exterior and interior of Eatery were very respectable.

The prices were very reasonable, I believe ranging from 8 to 12 dollars.

The best part of the meal was the bread at the beginning. It was decidedly not your standard dinner roll. Apparently every day they bake a different "bread" to serve while you order. Ours was some kind of a banana bread with chocolate chips, it was delicious.

Good for brunch  4 Star Rating - Very good

Went here for Sunday brunch and it was delightful. It's casual and the staff is nice and helpful. Had the blueberry pecan waffle which was great. Tasted my friend's omelet and it was good. It's a little bit farther out west so not as crowded as places that are closer to central Manhattan.

The Eatery! Great Macoroni and Cheese!  4 Star Rating - Very good

By Amy P. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 4,139

If you are looking for great tasting but resonably priced food, look no further. The atomsphere is very trendy and modern. They have a bar also. It gets extremely crowded, but the wait is worth it. Their macoroni and cheese is fantastic! They add fried onions to the top. Very tasty! As it's hard to find good mac and cheese in the city, you must check this place out! Their drinks are perfect as well. This place is great for either lunch or dinner. Lunchtime gets very crowded, so try to go early.

PROS: Great macoroni and cheese!
CONS: Crowds around lunchtime

tired of the treatment 3 Star Rating - Satisfactory

Every time I went there with my children, we were stuffed into a back corner near the kitchen. My 2 daughters, aged 12 & 9, have been eating in fine restaurants their whole lives, in the U.S. & Europe & know how to behave. They don't need children's menus. So why are we automatically stuffed into a back corner 'away' from everybody??? I am sick of the staff at Eatery assuming my children are ill behaved. It's really too bad, because the girls request going there as they love the food, but I will not take them as I have been stuffed into that corner enough. Eatery had several chances.

But if you do go, please do yourself a favor & order the blueberry lemonade.

Pros: excellent food & drink
Cons: treated poorly

Hells Kitchen Gem 5 Star Rating - World class

By sarahg212

My friends and I had a great dinner here. We are in our mid twenties and fit right in to the rest of the crowd. The menu is very unique and there is a wide variety of things to choose from (I was with two very picky eaters who were able to find something they'd eat). The ambiance is really cool and everything is reasonably priced. This was my second time and I'll definitely be back.

Pros: Great food, nice atmosphere, reasonable prices
Cons: Pay for each pop you drink, not unlimited refills

Perfect Venue for Sunday Brunch 5 Star Rating - World class

By GourmandizerNYC

I had walked by ?E? at least 20 times before my niece and I finally decided to walk in. We were greeted by a friendly host and seated immediately. Within minutes, we were offered drinks, and the great service did not stop there. The food was excellent and reasonably priced (especially for a trendy, hip, NYC restaurant) and the menu, diverse. The wait staff knows the menu inside and out, and they were able to answer all my questions about their unique sauces. Never was my water glass empty, or was there an empty dish cluttering the table. Since my first visit, I have gone back several times. Sunday brunch is definitely my favorite (I would recommend that you get there early - word has definitely spread), but I also enjoy sitting at the cozy bar just for a cocktail.

Pros: Service, Food, Sunday Brunch
Cons: none that I can think of

Great place for brunch 4 Star Rating - Very good

One of the best choices in Hell's Kitchen for brunch. Not your usual menu selections. It tends to get a little noisy so make sure you get there early.

Pros: Interesting menu, nice decor
Cons: Long wait on weekends
