Having a park in the middle of midtown is an anomaly. Having a zoo within the park is more so. Compared to the Bronx zoo this is the perfect zoo. You don't have to hike around to see everything. When the design changed in the Childrens zoo many delightful exhibits were lost such as Noahs ark and going in a whale structure.

The Central Park Zoo is one of our favorite destinations on a nice spring or fall day. The zoo is just enough for young children-small enough, yet with enough to do to keep all ages busy. Check the schedule for feedings of your favorite animals- ours are the sea lions and the penguins! You nan catch a show at the wildlife theater, and then go to the special Children's section- your little one can make beleive they are a turtle or rabbit, and then fed the animals in the adjoining petting zoo. Get a zoo slurpie in the cafe and stop into the gift shop, and you are set! When you leave the zoo, go out into Central Park and catch some of the perfomers, to top off perfect day.

The Central Park Zoo is divided into two parts. The main Zoo is at 65th Street in Central Park and the Children's Zoo is a few blocks north of it. When you enter the first thing you should do is check the animal feeding times as it is a lot of fun to watch the feedings of the Polar Bears, Seals and Penquins. Definitely check out the Penquin building as they have a bunch and the penguins are always very active. The Polar Bears are fun when it is cool out but on hot summer days they are sluggish and not very active. The Rainforest building is good to and birds fly right by you in this tropic wonderland. The Children's Zoo is fun to and you can feed pigs and goats which delights children. Your ticket to one zoo gets you into the other at no extra charge so there is no excuse not to see both.

For a change of pace and scenary with or without the kids, check out the central park zoo for a bit and commune with nature. The antics of the animals are sure to put you in a better mood, and it all supports a good cause to maintain Central Park. They keep it really clean as well, and you can pick up some lunch on the way back to the office from a food cart as you leave the park

The Central Park Zoo is located on the Lower East side of Central Park. It is a smaller zoo compared to zoos like the Bronx Zoo, but is still a wonderful place. Admission is around $6.00 for adults and even less for children. They have over 1,000 animals. There is a petting zoo, a puppet show and my favorite- sea lion feedings. They feed them several times a day and it is fun to watch. I would get there early to make sure you get a good view.

PROS: Fun, inexpensive,
CONS:

Hi everyone,

There's a zoo in Central Park and it's quite impressive! They have polar bears, a rain forest, seals, snow monkeys, a cafe' , children's petting zoo, and a gift shop, among other things. It's a really fun way to spend an afternoon. It's also quite affordable! Adult tickets are only $6.00 a person. Check out the website for more details.

PROS: A zoo in central Park! Fantastic!
