I would NOT recommend the BBB. If you have a complaint about a company, go directly to the WI Department of Agriculture, Trade & Consumer Protection agency which is a non partisan government agency. According to their website, they handle over 150,000 complaints and inquires a year. You can also call to find out how many complaints they have against a company.
It was very frustrating dealing with the BBB. I put in a complaint against Affordable Tree Care (an accredited company) who refuse to accept any of my emails or phone calls. I went to the BBB and the company still didn't meet with me. I then went to the WI Consumer Protection Agency and that seemed to get their attention. After over 2 months, the company decided to meet with me.
The BBB even recommended I go to the datcp.gov when we couldn't come to an agreement. The BBB said that they were sorry to hear about the bad experience I had with the BBB. It went on to say that they are a non-profit orginization non-governmnet organization so we often times do refer people to governmental organizations such as WI Dept. of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection Agency for issues beyond their scope.
The BBB said start with trust yet they do not TRUST you as a consumer to rate or grade their "accredited" and "non accredited" companies. They do the rating for you. Most rating websites let YOU rate or grade the company. They are a business and their money comes from the businesses that they monitor. I don't know how this can benefit the consumer.
I was told that it may take 60 days to be published and that it will say that I was unsatisfied. This is what I found on their BBB website with my closing date. BBB found he business made good faith effort to resole complaint but customer not satisfied with business response. There was no communication from the BBB that they felt the company made a good faith effort and it only took a few days to make this decision but 60 days to be published. I told them that we had settled. Next I find the beginning of my complaint and the end under the made good faith effort. I told them there was no middle and that I wanted it in the complaint section. I did send pictures and had trouble sending them but sent more later and they are not on the website.
When the process began, the company was accredited, non accredited after the complaint and then about a month later were accredited. I was told the BBB accreditation is a voluntary program which business can apply to. A company is not required to remain accredited. A company can at its discretion, remove itself from the accreditation program program for reasons of their own. As some point, company can choose to re-apple to the program. I find it hard to believe that the company volunteered to not be accredited for a month. If so, then should say that the company is a member since 2014.
Looking at the BBB accreditation standards, the company did not follow 6 out of the 8 accreditation standings. The company even faded out the original contract and added 4 men 8 hrs 250.00 per hour. Their response was in regards to the copy of contract she received along with other communication from us, that was just our internal notes that just exemplify the point that we were on the job for the estimated amount of time. We had 4 guys for 8= hours not to mention all the additional hours our employees have spent with this customer dealing with all of the issues. Who writes on fades a contract, writes on it and then send it externally to the WDATCP?
Go directly to the wdatcp if have a complaint. Thanks for letting ME rate this company.

I have dealt with BBBs all over the country and this is by far the worst. I filed a complaint against Ace World Wide moving company of Cudahy, WI for charging me $1,128.79 more than their original quote. Since Ace is a "BBB Accredited Business", the BBB barely paid any attention to my complaint and after I asked to leave it unresolved, they closed it. I then tried to post a review of the business and was told that if you had previously filed a complaint, you could not post a review of the business. When I called the BBB to ask about this, I was told this was one of their "business practices". In my opinion, and as other reviewers have suggested, it appears that if you are a business and pay the fee which entitles you to be a BBB Accredited Business, they will make sure you have a stellar rating. I call it selling protection. I checked out the BBB for Ace World Wide's complaint history before doing business with them, but learned the hard way that it really means nothing.

ABC 20/20 got it correct.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yo8kfV9kONw
I have know for 20 years, The BBB takes bribes. If your a member you get no complaints and A+ rating.
If your not a member you can not get a rating above a C-.
They are happy to take anyone money and make complaints disappear.

http://www.thebluesmokeband.com/bbb.php
The BBB is not what they claim to be.

Business Response:

Thomas, The BBB provides reports to the public on both accredited and non-accredited businesses. We have many non-accredited business reports with A , or even A+, ratings. Also, we have many accredited businesses with complaints on their record. It is true that you will not find a BBB Accredited Business with a rating lower than a B, but that is because BBB accreditation standards prohibit such companies from maintaining a BBB membership. For more information about the BBB, please visit our website, www.bbb.org.

This place is a Joke! After spending $8000 with a web site development company (Allmar Technologies DON'T EVER DO BUSINESS WITH THEM! They took my money and I NEVER SAW MY WEB SITE!) I filed a complaint with the BBB of Wisconsin in Greenfield explaining my side of the story and got the complete run around! These clowns did not return my phone calls or emails and actually hung up on me once! After finally reviewing my case, they closed it saying it was a "joint business venture" business deal gone south between two businesses rather than a business to customer relationship. This was obviously not the case! They said they would reopen the case if they had proof of payment to Allmar Technologies (checks written out to Allmar Technologies as a company). I then went ahead and proceeded to contact my bank and then sent the copies of the checks over to BBB. After waiting for over a week with no response, I tried contacting them again (getting the run around) being put on hold from several different people.... saying they would call me back. When I did finally get in touch with someone, they basicly just blew me off said that there was nothing that they can do and that they would not reopen my case even with the copies of the checks I had send over to them! Needless to say, nothing got resolved! The BBB in Greenfield missed the ball on this one! Horrible Customer Service! NOT HAPPY!!!!

Business Response:

Derrick, I'm sorry to hear that you had a bad experience with the BBB. Unfortunately, without more information, I'm at a loss as to what exactly happened. If you'd like please call our office and speak with an operator. Ask for a supervisor when you get a hold of the operator, and someone will try and help you out.

Deborah, I'm sorry to hear about your troubles with Direct USA Foods. If the issue is not resolved, you can file a complaint through the Clearwater, FL BBB. They handle complaints against companies in the St. Petersburg area. Their website is http://westflorida.bbb.org

We filed a complaint with the BBB of Wisconsin about a business that failed to respond to communications regarding a warranty issue for over 15 months. Even though the business failed to even respond to the complaint by the BBB on a timely basis, and no warranty repairs were ever made nor was a refund forthcoming, the BBB decided to close the complaint. Note especially that this business is still listed with an AAA+ rating and the BBB of Wis website does not indicate a complaint was even filed. We allege the BBB of Wisconsin to be biased in favor of the business due to the fact that they receive membership funding from the business, and the BBB in fact owes their existence to such dues. In addition, when I requested the contact person at the BBB to offer us arbitration or mediation, they simply did not respond to my emails. I also requested the name of a person to contact at the BBB higher in the chain of command, but also never received a reply. Quite an unprofessional reaction from an organization that supposedly requires members to act with transparency and within imposed ethical guidelines. Apparently this only applies to the members? Who do we can complaint to about the BBB? I suggest that anyone with a business complaint not bother wasting your time filing a complaint with the BBB of Wisconsin. Instead, go directly to the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture website where you can file a consumer complaint. If enough people avoid the BBB of Wisconsin site, we will send the appropriate message. Thanks to all who share our concern.

case:44056503
I received the response from you and Tom Schlick.
his answer is unacceptable. he was not an hourly employee
he was a client manager. I feel certain that he has an address on his last pay check from Tennessee/
Kentucky. BB found the owner at one point, I would appreciate the necessary effort to get my money back.stay on top of Schlick until he produces the location.

I filed a complaint several weeks ago about the Nutruiton Center in Waupaca, Wisconsin. I received a reply from them in writing with my file number and password. I have tried to gain access to this website and cannot even find a spot to get to my complaint or answer any reply from the store. The store did call me once and left a message about me calling them "if" I wanted to talk with them only because they were notified by bbb about my complaint. How can I reply online to them when I cannot even get on the site to do this? My answer, stop calling me and just do the right thing by refunding me instead of trying to be cute and trying to play this out while smiling like nothing happened.
