They eliminated all the unlimited plans and then announced price increases for nearly all services. As the other review said, this brough the basic package up to $135-140 a month! I've since cancelled as all they do is bundle stuff in you don't want. Back to ACS for DSL service...

gci's bare minimum package is $135/mo, there's no way you can get one for less, plus that's limited to 40gigs of transfer.

Even if you only get internet, that's $105 for 40gigs... ripoff.

GCI basicly has a monopoly across Alaska with their TV, Cable, and Phone package. In order to get anything close to whats considered broadband you'll need to subscribe to their package plan with their newly released capped bandwidth that meters your usage like a cellphone plan for 40Gb's of data transfer @ 3mbit/s. With this you get basic digital cable and a few hundred minutes of long distances phone service for about $85.00/mo currently.

They are alright. Recently the service changed to unlimited download for the cable Internet, which is nice. I had never lived in a place with a download cap before. The customer service needs improvement, after 6pm I tend to get someone in the lower 48, which is no help. If you want cable, it's not like you have a choice here. Over all in the last month they have gotten better, lets hope it continues.

I have my cell phone, internet, cable and television all with GCI. Haven't had any major problems...yet...although they are a tad short staffed and need to learn a little more about tech support for phone. All in all, not bad to deal with, though.
