...at the beginning of the film. But probably not.

This is a solidly, consistently good movie theater--soulless, it's true, but satisfactory in all ways as a big box theater. It's not cheap, but it's not more than other theaters. If you run into someone you're trying to impress and don't want them to know you paid to watch "Good Luck Chuck 2: Dane Cook Is a Weiner," you can easily duck into another theater as a) there's a huge selection of films playing at all times (see establishment's name); and b) the people who work there provide that disinterested surly brand of service I love so well, so they really don't care what you do. Popcorn's good.

The worst thing about this theater, easily, is the parking...expensive and vaguely creepy, and no one likes a surly parking garage! Apart from that, I have no complaints about the theater, and given how many times I've been there, this seems statistically significant, so I would recommend it.

Ah, AMC comes to Chicago. I really believe that this company does it right for the movie goer. The people who work there are nice enough and acknowledge that you're there for a good time. Stadium seating throughout and plenty of reclining and folding armrests. All chairs are highback and firm much like a japanese car seat. The theatres are cleaner than most around Chicago and they have great popcorn.

I don't live in Chicago, but whenever I visit, I always end up at this theater. They always have the best movies in town and everything about the theaters is great. They have great video and sound quality and very comfortable stadium seating with reclining seats. Also, they recently added an awesome bowling alley/bar on the second floor called lucky strike that is the coolest place ever.

AMC River East is an excellent theater that is brand new and very nice. Located near Navy Pier, it is busy but big enough that shows are not usually sold out. The seats and the way the theaters are set up are incredibly comfortable. One strange thing I have found is that although a major movie theater chain, they tend to not show all the major blockbusters.

By far the roomiest place in the city to see a movie. You can stretch your legs and put your head back on the seat.

This is the WalMart of movie theatres and I hope this isn't the direction that most theatres are headed. Basically, there isn't much "atmosphere". But, there are a ton of choices. In the winter, you won't feel welcome until you get to the upper deck to see your movie, because the lobby is COLD and isn't very welcoming. The popcorn isn't very good either. BUT, once inside, the theatres are awesome and the seating is second to none. In short, a bad entrance, but once inside, you're set!

Pros: great seats, great sound, cute girls

Cons: bad popcorn, cold

big screens yes, stadium seating yes, great sound sure,
BUT parking is horrible. the attached garage offers only
a $1 discount from the regular price (upwards of $15)
and even then only if it's under two hours... otherwise
parking and film will come out to nearly $30!!(!)
parking in the area is even more perilous - good luck
finding a spot... or a lot that does't charge even more.
