Not enough value

by J M. | insider Insider | Rank: 32,174

I've been going to Burke Williams for years, but recently the service doesn't really match the price and the crowded facility doesn't help. I had a facial this past week and the entire time the facialist kept talking about the products (obviously trying to sell them). During the facial, she repeated herself on two separate products. Word for word. I don't think she even realized she did it. An express facial at BW is $75 for 25 minutes but I can go to Glen Ivy and get a full 80 minute facial that includes a mini massage for $85! Only $10 more. I don't think I'll be back. I prefer Harmony in Sierra Madre or Glen Ivy.

I LOVE BURKE WILLIAMS!! THANK U MOL AND JULIA!!

by Marianne D.

My parents gave me and my bridesmaids gift certificates to this spa in West Hollywood and I gotta tel you WE HAD THE BEST TIME EVER! My first appt. was with a therapist named Mol who got rid of my tight shoulders and still back! I don't know what he did but whatever he did it felt fantastic! I also had a facial with Julia who made my skin look so vibrant for my wedding day and so relaxed that I scheduled an appt for my mother's 60th birthday with her! Thank you thank you to the staff who made this experience so wonderful!

Wouldn't go again!

by J W.

Burke Williams is advertised as this "luxurious" and "world-renowned" spa, I highly disagree. Because they are expensive, I expected a lot. The facility is outdated and very dark. I went on saturday afternoon, it was way too crowded, and so loud! There were several groups of girls in the hot tub chattering away, they could be heard from inside the steam and sauna. Eventhough there are signs everywhere that "silence is appreciated" people were excessively loud, I felt like I was in a gym rather than a day spa. The massage session was decent, but even the music in the treatment room was a bit loud, and too dramatic for a "relaxing massage" There are a lot better day spas in Pasadena.

Not male-friendly...

by Cody C.

I first went to Burke Williams of Pasadena for a birthday present from my wife, and I was incredibly impressed by their service and beautiful facilities.

Then, when I wanted to schedule a return visit during the day on Saturdays, I was prevented to do so due to a "Women's Only" policy that includes taking over the Men's spa.

Thinking it was only a once-in-a-while happening, I tried again a few weeks later, only to discover that it is a regular policy to prevent men from using any of the facilities between 9am and 6pm on Saturdays. What's more, they refuse a price break for the man in pain wishing a treatment but being forced to change in a public bathroom without access to any of the "spa" facilities.

In my opinion, this policy is utterly ridiculous and completely prevents me and my golf buddies from going for a massage because we work during the week.

Why would Saturday be a women-only day? Do men never feel back pain or stress on Saturdays?

Please men, for the principle of it, do not use their services until they change this unfortunately policy.

A Disaster

by Anonymous

Don't have your eyebrows waxed here. The first time, fine - so it's not my skin type or anything like that. The second time, I thought it was the usual mild irritation but when I got out of the romantic lighting I realized skin was torn from my forehead and my eyelid was raw. There was no hair to begin with on my eyelid. I will look beat up for weeks.

****Completly enjoyed****

by Lv2shop -.

My husband and I went together. It was wonderful, he got a 50 minute massage and I received a last minute massage and took advantage of the entire Spa! This was a great day to spend time together, but seperate :) Local to pasadena, parking was not difficult. If you dont know where it is, arrived a bit early to find. Parking lot east of the location off of Lacey($6 max). Not only to find parking but take advantage of the many services the Spa has to offer. We will be back!

Good Experience, arrive early to find parking

by Anonymous

Had a wonderful 80 minute massage the other day with Ivy. The parking was pretty terrible, I had to drive up and down the parking structure twice to find parking and was subsequently late for my appointment. Ivy spoke with her manager and was able to move the appointment up, which was quite gracious. Surprisingly crowded for Tuesday at 1:00 pm. I would recommend this place for it's excellent massages, but because it was so crowded, it didn't make it a desireable place to hang out.

Way too crowded - even during the week!

by A M. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 12,468

I can't understand all of the "world class" reviews - I've tried this place three times, all during the week before 3pm - and each time, there was barely enough sitting room in the waiting area! My treatments were good, the therapists didn't try to talk when I wanted to relax, the sauna and hot pool were nice, but the locker room was pretty packed. I've been to other L.A. spas and even on the weekends, it didn't seem as crowded as this one. Perhaps it's just the small size of the facility that makes it seem so crowded. I also wish there was a bit more parking in the area, it's hard to relax when worrying about the meter and / or fighting for a parking space. Maybe a valet service (like other spas) would help? Not a horrible experience, not even a bad one, but there are better, more relaxing, easy-parking spas out there.

PROS: Nice therapists, quiet, appointments easy to get.
CONS: Crowded, parking!

Burke Williams

by Liz H. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 1,367

I love this spa. I am a little parital because I used to work there but I go back as often as I can. The Pasadena location can be a little tough to find because it's tucked away in Old Town Pasadena, but it is SO worth it! The entire place is very calm and relaxing. Everything is very clean and the staff is extremely helpful. They have a lot of therapists so you can always find someone that suits your tastes perfectly so that your experience is everything that it should be.

A Day of Paradise

by Tara C. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 4,269

I love this place! It is so relaxing and tranquil. They offer great services. One of my favorites is "The Ultimate Facial" - during this facial, a massage therapist stretches, rubs and coaxes the aches and pains from your feet. I also love thier massages. Pamper yourself at this luxurious spa!

Relaxing Experience

by Jennifer M.

My friend and I wanted a relaxing afternoon at a spa, and we were more than satisfied with our time spent at Burke Williams. We were welcomed to come well before our scheduled treatments to relax in the soothing pools. Fluffy robes and slippers were provided. Our treatments (scheduled at the same time) began promptly and the professional staff made everything easy and relaxing. It was time (and money) well spent.

PROS: Great service, very relaxing
CONS: A little pricey, but competitive

Pamper Yourself

by andrea b. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 1,323

This is hands-down the best day spa in Pasadena. Beautiful facility and very accomidating staff. I've had all the services and I like them all. It can get very crowded if you go on the weekends but if you must go on a Saturday or Sunday just make your appointment for 7:00 am when the spa is still empty. It makes all the difference.

PROS: Massages are wonderful.
CONS: Expensive and gets very crowded on weekends.

Burke Williams is a first class spa. Offers an extensive list of services, facilities are posh and well-maintained. I enjoy the wet and dry saunas. The personnel are professional. The atmosphere is very relaxing and quiet. I was impressed by the women's area. They offer every toiletrie one could need for a shower, washing one's face, plus have fruit and light beverages available. The massages I have had there have been a delight. They are done according to my preference, so work through the knots to my satisfaction. Gift certificates are available, which make the best gifts. This spa is located in oldtown Pasadena, west of Fair Oaks, south of Jakes in the alley.

Wonderful! Perfect retreat for yourself or a loved one. It can get a little busy on the weekends, best to go early in the morning or on a week day. Nothing better than taking some time for yourself. A Gift Certificate makes a perfect present.
