Well, I've had better.

I can say that I have had better experiences at the smaller day spas. I wasn't impressed with my day here. The facial was just o.k. I went in for the 4 layer resurfacing and just did not think it was all that great. I have had better hand and foot massages at the Aveda School while getting a service. So.. yeah. a bit of a disappointment.

I also thought the amenities there were just sort of blah. I was not comfortable in the lounge area, I found it to be just a collection of random people in robes, bored... not enough magazines to go around. The jacuzzi was nice, and sauna was pretty decent, the showers were also pretty good. I actually think the showers were a close second with the quiet room. I would have opted for more seating in the spa area near the jacuzzi.

The water and tea was nice, I also liked the products they had in the spa area to return to the outside.

All in all... I wouldn't recommend. I was not impressed. I felt more like it was a spa factory. Just a little to commercial for my taste. It was just sort of like the Target of Spas.

I am an esthetician and I applied for a job at Burke Williams. I read all the reviews on here from the former employees and I agree this place is like an overpriced factory/doctors office. They do not have customers and employees interest in mind, just their own interest in getting money. I wonder why they are going out of business.....As for the quality of employees that work there, the reason why is because the lady who hires estheticians is not an esthetician herself and knows nothing about skin care at all. I wonder who's d*** she had to suck to get that job. As for the services, you might as well go get a massage somewhere cheap at the asian spas where they are much more experienced and you can save the $200 on a fabulous new outfit!

I usually go to the Santa Monica location. I have gone to this Pasadena location a few times. The staff has always been helpful, courteus and professional. Plan to park in the public lot on Delacey, which is cheaper than parking on Fair Oaks. I had a 50 minute facial, which I would have again at this location!

I booked 2 massages, both 80 minute sessions for my husband and I last week. I had never been to the Pasadena location and right away I found it to be unkept and full of cranky staff. I was taken away by a non-speaking attendant and given a half-assed "tour" of the ladies locker room. I asked a few basic questions ... "Will my massage therapist come find me in here or should I wait elsewhere?" "Is it better to jacuzzi or sit in the hot sauna before a massage?" She didnt even answer me properly...she just nodded and said yes to both questions. wtf.
I found my locker, and oh, whats that? No robe? 2 different sized shoes? oh boy.
I let it go.. Afterall, I'm here to relax. I just took a couple deep breaths and asked the lady attendant for another robe and she quickly got one from another locker. (Is that why my locker didn't have a robe? Did she have to find another robe for a differnent client by taking my locker's robe??) hmm..
I was hoping my hubby was having a good time on his side....
I went straight to the showers to get a hot shower in before my service and found a large clump of hair in the floor and slipped on a "soap luge" on the lip of the shower. wow. this place is winning me over.
I showered in a different stall, went to the quiet room (which was great!) and sipped lemon-infused water while I waited for my therapist.
She arrived, smelling like aromatherapy oils (which I am seriously sensitive to!) and I was led by a hand on my back upstairs to the massage room. She mentioned that they offered some "enhancements" Hot Stones and the Aromatherapy "lotion". (Even if I did want the aromatherapy, why is it mixed with LOTION?! Doesnt anyone at this company do their research? You cannot blend essential oils into lotion and have it retain any "aromatherapy" qualities. GAH!)
The massage was good, very firm and she was intuitive about the areas that needed some love. I mentioned the small area on my lower back that she needed to avoid and she did... she was very communicative and was soft spoken. I would go see her again actually, but not at this spa!
I found out later that my husband had a wonderful time, except for the slight issue of getting his massage shorted by 8 minutes. He said that the therapist announced the time at the beginning, but when he sat up at the end and looked at the clock it was only 2:20 (his service was supposed to end at 2:28. Hrm. bad tip for that therapist! Maybe she had to pee? Who knows.

Overall, I hope this was helpful. I couldn't help but put in a review for this location and end by saying that Sherman Oaks is a better Burke Williams to visit. I've never had such a had time relaxing there.

OMG!!! Made a waxing appointment, yup, bikini, turned into a nightmare.
I asked for a very basic brazilian, assumed they were a professional spa with real professional aestheticians.. NO!!!! She had no idea what she was doing, started globbing tons of wax on then yanking and yanking and she didn't know what to do. I had to stop her and say you don't know what you're doing do you? Please go get someone else! The second aesthetician came in, took one look and said Oh my god. She spent a good 30 minutes up in my business cutting the wax out with scissors.
I was so raw form the first lady trying to rip it out, they had to just stop.
I am home and sore with a HALF A BALD business. UNBELIEVABLE.
I will never ever ever go back and am demanding they pay for me to get fixed at a real, professional salon.
Shocking. horrible, stupid place.

I've been going to Burke Williams for years, but recently the service doesn't really match the price and the crowded facility doesn't help. I had a facial this past week and the entire time the facialist kept talking about the products (obviously trying to sell them). During the facial, she repeated herself on two separate products. Word for word. I don't think she even realized she did it. An express facial at BW is $75 for 25 minutes but I can go to Glen Ivy and get a full 80 minute facial that includes a mini massage for $85! Only $10 more. I don't think I'll be back. I prefer Harmony in Sierra Madre or Glen Ivy.

My parents gave me and my bridesmaids gift certificates to this spa in West Hollywood and I gotta tel you WE HAD THE BEST TIME EVER! My first appt. was with a therapist named Mol who got rid of my tight shoulders and still back! I don't know what he did but whatever he did it felt fantastic! I also had a facial with Julia who made my skin look so vibrant for my wedding day and so relaxed that I scheduled an appt for my mother's 60th birthday with her! Thank you thank you to the staff who made this experience so wonderful!

Burke Williams is advertised as this "luxurious" and "world-renowned" spa, I highly disagree. Because they are expensive, I expected a lot. The facility is outdated and very dark. I went on saturday afternoon, it was way too crowded, and so loud! There were several groups of girls in the hot tub chattering away, they could be heard from inside the steam and sauna. Eventhough there are signs everywhere that "silence is appreciated" people were excessively loud, I felt like I was in a gym rather than a day spa. The massage session was decent, but even the music in the treatment room was a bit loud, and too dramatic for a "relaxing massage" There are a lot better day spas in Pasadena.

I first went to Burke Williams of Pasadena for a birthday present from my wife, and I was incredibly impressed by their service and beautiful facilities.

Then, when I wanted to schedule a return visit during the day on Saturdays, I was prevented to do so due to a "Women's Only" policy that includes taking over the Men's spa.

Thinking it was only a once-in-a-while happening, I tried again a few weeks later, only to discover that it is a regular policy to prevent men from using any of the facilities between 9am and 6pm on Saturdays. What's more, they refuse a price break for the man in pain wishing a treatment but being forced to change in a public bathroom without access to any of the "spa" facilities.

In my opinion, this policy is utterly ridiculous and completely prevents me and my golf buddies from going for a massage because we work during the week.

Why would Saturday be a women-only day? Do men never feel back pain or stress on Saturdays?

Please men, for the principle of it, do not use their services until they change this unfortunately policy.

Don't have your eyebrows waxed here. The first time, fine - so it's not my skin type or anything like that. The second time, I thought it was the usual mild irritation but when I got out of the romantic lighting I realized skin was torn from my forehead and my eyelid was raw. There was no hair to begin with on my eyelid. I will look beat up for weeks.

My husband and I went together. It was wonderful, he got a 50 minute massage and I received a last minute massage and took advantage of the entire Spa! This was a great day to spend time together, but seperate :) Local to pasadena, parking was not difficult. If you dont know where it is, arrived a bit early to find. Parking lot east of the location off of Lacey($6 max). Not only to find parking but take advantage of the many services the Spa has to offer. We will be back!

Had a wonderful 80 minute massage the other day with Ivy. The parking was pretty terrible, I had to drive up and down the parking structure twice to find parking and was subsequently late for my appointment. Ivy spoke with her manager and was able to move the appointment up, which was quite gracious. Surprisingly crowded for Tuesday at 1:00 pm. I would recommend this place for it's excellent massages, but because it was so crowded, it didn't make it a desireable place to hang out.

I can't understand all of the "world class" reviews - I've tried this place three times, all during the week before 3pm - and each time, there was barely enough sitting room in the waiting area! My treatments were good, the therapists didn't try to talk when I wanted to relax, the sauna and hot pool were nice, but the locker room was pretty packed. I've been to other L.A. spas and even on the weekends, it didn't seem as crowded as this one. Perhaps it's just the small size of the facility that makes it seem so crowded. I also wish there was a bit more parking in the area, it's hard to relax when worrying about the meter and / or fighting for a parking space. Maybe a valet service (like other spas) would help? Not a horrible experience, not even a bad one, but there are better, more relaxing, easy-parking spas out there.

PROS: Nice therapists, quiet, appointments easy to get.
CONS: Crowded, parking!

I love this spa. I am a little parital because I used to work there but I go back as often as I can. The Pasadena location can be a little tough to find because it's tucked away in Old Town Pasadena, but it is SO worth it! The entire place is very calm and relaxing. Everything is very clean and the staff is extremely helpful. They have a lot of therapists so you can always find someone that suits your tastes perfectly so that your experience is everything that it should be.

I love this place! It is so relaxing and tranquil. They offer great services. One of my favorites is "The Ultimate Facial" - during this facial, a massage therapist stretches, rubs and coaxes the aches and pains from your feet. I also love thier massages. Pamper yourself at this luxurious spa!

My friend and I wanted a relaxing afternoon at a spa, and we were more than satisfied with our time spent at Burke Williams. We were welcomed to come well before our scheduled treatments to relax in the soothing pools. Fluffy robes and slippers were provided. Our treatments (scheduled at the same time) began promptly and the professional staff made everything easy and relaxing. It was time (and money) well spent.

PROS: Great service, very relaxing
CONS: A little pricey, but competitive

This is hands-down the best day spa in Pasadena. Beautiful facility and very accomidating staff. I've had all the services and I like them all. It can get very crowded if you go on the weekends but if you must go on a Saturday or Sunday just make your appointment for 7:00 am when the spa is still empty. It makes all the difference.

PROS: Massages are wonderful.
CONS: Expensive and gets very crowded on weekends.

Burke Williams is a first class spa. Offers an extensive list of services, facilities are posh and well-maintained. I enjoy the wet and dry saunas. The personnel are professional. The atmosphere is very relaxing and quiet. I was impressed by the women's area. They offer every toiletrie one could need for a shower, washing one's face, plus have fruit and light beverages available. The massages I have had there have been a delight. They are done according to my preference, so work through the knots to my satisfaction. Gift certificates are available, which make the best gifts. This spa is located in oldtown Pasadena, west of Fair Oaks, south of Jakes in the alley.

Wonderful! Perfect retreat for yourself or a loved one. It can get a little busy on the weekends, best to go early in the morning or on a week day. Nothing better than taking some time for yourself. A Gift Certificate makes a perfect present.

I visited the spa before making reservations for my best friends birthday becauase of the reviews I'd read. This is a first class establishment. I toured the facility with no hesitation from the staff and made my reservations for four before I left. My friend who was celebrating her birthday was just as impressed as I was as soon as she walked in the door, as were her sister and friend with us. The parking lot across the way was close and convenient, the treatments we had were excellent, the staff treated us like we were VIP's, but that is the way everyone seemed to be treated. We stayed as long as we wanted, and were never rushed. The only negative is we had to be quiet in the jacuzzi, and try and keep any number of women quiet in a close enviornment. The frozen grapes, cucumber slices and warm towels for our eyes were served to us by staff members as if we were royality. If you want to treat yourself or someone you care a lot about, you have to visit BW in Pasadena. The spa is within walking distance from many restaurants, and we were able to leave the car in the lot, drop off our bags, and walk to lunch. My friend is still thanking me, and asking when are we going to do it again.

i go to burke williams frequently and i have been to many of their spas because i travel for work. I find it very "non' relaxing when i get a facial to have the esthetician constantly telling me everything they are using on my face..sure thats great if i have a concern but i feel that these estheticians are being pressured into selling to clients because burke williams is not doing well. i just got an email from my friend who lives in Danville, CA and they just shut down that spa...i used to like coming into burke williams when i didn't feel like i had to buy something. i liked to relax. I sat and watched some of the technicians after my service and honestly felt bad for them they run around with their heads cut off some of them. Working for a spa should be relaxing in my opinion but I think because the whole company isn't doing well as a whole their employees are suffering from being forced to sell sell sell. I used to recommend this spa to many of my employees but now feel like I need to find a better one where they can relax and not feel pressured..

I went to Burke Williams for a facial a few days before my wedding and it was fine. The facial was good but the technician kept talking and trying to push their products during my service. I felt like a wallet rather than a client. Like I said, the facial was fine but the upsell put me off. Too bad. Also, crowded.

Well... I'm a former employee of Burke Williams and when I started there approximately 3 years ago, it was a well respected spa... But I left a year ago after they had given it's employees a raise and then a few months later took back the raise while increasing it's fees for services... Not only are they taking away from the employees but thay are scalping the customers as well...
Believe me, when they increase the fees, not a penny goes to the therapists whose hard work and training is the primary basis for its return clientele...
Since then, they have cut the therapists pay twice...
When I started, the base pay was $15.00 an hour plus incentives.. Went up to $20.00 and is now down to about $11.00 per service... Plus incentives... Sounds like borderline slave labor considering the traing that we all had to take to become an employee of this 'fine establishment'... So what's been happening is that any high quality, skilled, intuitive therapist with any self respect is not going to continue to work there... I didn't and as you see the prices go up, you will see quality go down... Wouldn't surprise me to see Burke close it's doors before the end of the year...
Boo Hoo...

We like Burke Williams for our quarterly re-energizing weekends. The fruited waters, iced towels and tranquil environment really works wonders. Our only concern is that they have raised their prices almost yearly and the service from the staff has changed as new staff is hired. Long story short, not the same return on our investment for quality of care recieved.

Burke Williams is a great day spa located in the heart of old town Pasadena. Locals know where to find the spa, but visitors might find it a bit hard to locate as it is nestled in an alleyway...the last place you'd think to find a spa! The service is always great and your appointments are on-time. The spa area is a nice place to relax, but can sometimes get crowded and a little loud (especially on the weekends). Overall, a great place to relax and rejuvenate.

In the process of purchasing a gift certificate at Burke Williams official website, the application crashed. I immediately called customer service, explained what happened. I said my account was charged and emailed screen shots of the errors. They insisted my account was not charged (with attitude) and said that they were aware of problems with the site.
It took 5 days, many emails and over 2 hours on the phone to resolve the issue. To make matters worse, the manager's solution was to RECHARGE my card and credit it back later IF the original charge was confirmed. The only compensation they offered for the stress and inconvenience was free shipping which would not have been necessary if they had listened to me to begin with. Buyer beware!

Please men, for the priniple of it, do not use their services until they change this unfortunately policy.

If you want to spend money to come to a teaching spa, this is it. The young lady who was my aesthetician was very unsure of herself and kept asking me for direction. The experience was strange and uneventful.

Disappointed with the facial. (I do not care for spa service people who take longer than necessary to start the treatment and she took her time returning to the room.) She also spent a lot of time doing extractions and said hardly anything. (Most other estheticians I've seen have given various and helpful feedback about the condition of my skin, what I can do to improve it, etc.)

I walked out disappointed because the esthetician's attitude was as if BW was a factory and I was just another customer (which, I guess I am, but, after reading the other glowing reviews, I feel gypped because I was treated by someone who has lost passion for her job or couldn't wait for quitting hour).

I am giving 3 stars because of the facility. As for the person who gave me my facial, I'd definitely give her 2 stars.

I have gotten a lot of Massages and must say that I got the best massage ever from ANKA at this beautiful location in the midst of Old Town Pasadena. She listened to my complaints about aches and pains and addressed every bit of it, which made it a relaxing and restoring experience. By far the best Deep Tissue work I have gotten. I will be a regular client.
The facilities incl. sauna, jacuzzi and a steam room! Robes and slippers are provided as well. Quiet and peaceful with excellent customer service. Enjoy!

I love BW Pasadena--the spa-style facial is great, and the paraffin hand dip is divine. I once went to Amadeus and they made me walk into the hallway for the paraffin hand dip. That was very disappointing and I haven't been back there since.
The only thing I've ever complained about is the noise level in the spa. When you get a bunch of 20 year olds together, what do you expect? But they took my gripe to heart, and the next time I went the lights were dimmed and it definitely cut the noise level. People are most likely to whisper when it's dark. Whoever thought of that deserves a promotion!
Highly recommended.

I've been to Burke Williams many times over the years and have never been disappointed. The staff is always attentive, prompt, and professional. I love their facilities! Everything is always immaculate. There are plenty of fresh towels, fresh robes, cucumber water (who doesn't like to be pampered with cucumber water?), etc. The ambience, the atmosphere the amenitites - everything is soothing, focused on relaxation. Definitely a great way to unwind, refresh, rejuventate yourself.

I went there not too long ago for a massage and I have never received such horrible customer service as I did that day. I went in for a massage but ended coming out of there with a headache. Not only was the masseuse about 1/2 late, but the people in there were so ridiculously dirty and looking like if they were straight outta of a rap video. Loud abnoxious people. Gross. And to top it off, my massage was horrible. She was the worst masseuse in the world. Overpriced, and all the hype isnt worth another headache. Will NEVER go there again.

The Burke Williams in Pasadena is by far my favorite of all spas. From the impeccable service to the heavenly calm and solitude of the quiet room, every aspect of a day at Burke Williams Pasadena will make you feel like the most treasured person on earth. Go for a massage or facial, but do plan on spending a full day there to adequately explore and enjoy all aspects of the luxury they provide. The only downside is paying for parking.

The spa facilities are great, I would go back for a seaweed bath and the use of the spa. Mani/pedi is way overpriced for what you get. Lather (particully next door) does a fabulous mani/pedi for almost half the price. Emilee's Intrigue is great but again overpriced for what it is. The facial is average. The lounge area is coed. The quiet room is very noisy, you hear everything from the surrounding rooms. Locker room facilities are crowded.

I took my wife to Burke Williams Pasadena for our anniversary. When I returned to pick her up, I asked how she liked it. With a glow in her face, she responded, "Honey, this is the best gift ever!" My wife tends to be pretty conservative and was very impressed with the professionalism and care given to her. She wants to return, this time with me along!

The lounge/waiting area is tranquil; the decor is subdued and soothing. There's also a "Quiet Room" you can wait in. A nice touch is pitchers of iced water with slices of fruit everywhere. The dressing room is where the large whirlpool is located; showers are huge walk-ins, with plenty of amenities--towels, soap, shampoo, etc. Everything feels/looks chic and upscale. My massage therapist was pleasant and competent, but unfortunately, it didn't feel worth the $90.

Nobody beats Burke Williams for facilities. From the moment you walk in, the place screams 'RELAX!' And you can't fight it. You can pamper yourself in a hot bath, one of the steam rooms or the relaxation room, perfect for a quick nap. Just be careful, you may be too relaxed to walk to your car and drive home afterwards!

I like this Burke better than the Sunset or Santa Monica location. I'm addicted; I go stressed and leave relaxed. I would reccomend the salt glo, the shiatsu/ swedish combo massage, deep tissue massage, the Calistoga getaway, and Emilee's Intrigue. The facials I've had there were just okay and I've never had a manicure or pedicure there. It can get really crowded so try to go during off-peak hours.
