Went there for the first time, had the breaded steak sandwich value pack, and I have to admit, I was perhaps spoiled by the many responses I have seen regarding that sandwich, everywhere I went they made it seem like the supreme sandwich to eat if it is the last meal and what not, so I went with expectations that deep down I did not believe the establishment could live up to, or even get close. but despite that, it got very close if it did not meet my expectations. I had the sandwich with the molten cheese. The only problem is that it is not the easiest to eat, it can get quite messy and handling such a behemoth of a sandwich is a bit tricky, furthermore, you have to eat it fast, for the real good taste is achieved while the cheese is in its semi-liquid state. Well, the only place I have experienced such a taste in fries where in home made fries, made directly from the potatoes, not frozen, and I still think these were a bit better. As a person that has been to some internationally known restaurants in the city of Miami, I have to admit, I was blown away by the taste, and even more, that sandwich is huge, you are definitely getting your money's worth, I ordered the regular size and was unable to finish all of it.
There is no waiter, it handles very similar to a fast food restaurant, but the people behind the counter just have that extra energy that is rarely seen in any fast food restaurant I have ever been to, and the place looks really nice too.
So if you want a good meal that will fill you up and not cost that much (literally you are getting twice as many fries and a sandwich that is twice to three times larger then what you get in a fast food restaurant at a little less then twice the cost but with much better taste), eat at ricobene's.

The best reason I can give for choosing Ricobene's is that it was started the same year I was born. We grew up together. Ricobene's is a family owned business that strives to continue the tradition of using family recipes for their sauce and food preparation secrets. Owners, Sam and Frank, who incidentally are twins, are the surviving original proprietors who stop by the restaurant every day to make sure things are being ran properly. You may see one or the other leisurely sipping a glass of wine with a family member, or hurriedly running in or out of their "twin" offices to met at discussing new ideas for their restaurant. Throughout the years the business has expanded from it's 26th Street location to include 2 downtown Chicago locations, a southwest side location and one in Orland, IL, Bollingbrook, IL and soon to open in Darien, IL. I reflect back on their once little shack that served Italian sausage right off the barbques spits - big things have happened since then. Ricobene's has been renovated to include another building as well as to become a seated restaurant where you can dine inside. There's not a bad seat in the house as the walls of the entire restaurant are decorated with pictures from "the neighborhood". The menu has expanded throughout the years to include trendy items. I do, however, miss when they would serve fresh raw clams with lemon wedges and hot peppers that would ignite the flavor of habeneros. As for fried potato fries, Ricobene's is one of the few that uses fresh - not frozen potatoes. The fries are by far the BEST. On the menu are traditional sausage, beef and meatball sandwiches, highlighted by a super breaded steak sandwich. Other sandwich choices include chicken vesuvio (chicken breast breaded with a supreme coating), sloppy Joe's, hamburger or hot dog served with chili or cheese or both. Corresponding to fast food requests, the carry out/delivery/or eat in restaurant offers lunch package menus that include a sandwich, fries

If you've never had a breaded steak sandwich then you have to head over to Ricobene's. Very cheap and very very messy but oh so good! They are huge, but thank god they came out with a Jr., it's much more of a normal size. Their pizza is good too but their breaded steaks are what they are known for. Oh, and their cheese fries go great with the steak.

PROS: Cheap and Good
CONS: nothing
