.

The Harvard Film Archive is not the most attractive theater in Massachusetts. What is does have going for it is the fantastic programming that at times can outshine the offerings at the other 'film school' in Cambridge, the Brattle Theatre.

Patrons can see works from known masters such as Bergman, Fellini and Kazan as well as lesser known masters like Riefenstahl and Renais. Most films are offered in a series and at times there are guest speakers-sometimes they are the filmmakers-who present a particular film and is available for Q&A afterward.

The screenings are open to the public. There is a discount for Harvard faculty, staff and students with ID.

The HFA is the best place to see films in Cambridge/Boston. Each month features a certain theme and then they show 1-2 movies every night that pertain to the theme. Perhaps the theme is the films of Bergmann or Renais or films based on Kafka stories or post-WWII Swedish cinema. Regardless the films you see there are always the most intruiging.

There's no place I would rather see a film. Tickets are $8 or $6 for students.
