Andre is a 230 lb mastif, Dog spa is the first groomer that could accomodate him. the spa had a great design that Andre can enjoy, I find the staff wonderful and knowledgeable. I have to travel quite a distance to get there, but Andre and I both think its well worth it

I've been to Dog Spa several times and everytime I find the sales staff to be snobby. I will not go back again. I had tried to keep a open mind, maybe someone was having a bad day but it really is just bad service. Their products are not cheap you'd think there would be a little respect for spending your money with them. I also found the groomers not to be the greatest. I will not subject my dog to them again. I expected more frome everyone there. 3/2010

If I could give something less than one star, I would have. We have been bringing our dog to Dog Spa for three years and didn't really have any complaints until recently.
Shortly after a grooming appointment we noticed some fluid coming from the inside of our dog's ears. Not sure what was wrong with our dog, we brought him to the vet to find out what was wrong. The vet told us that his ears were fine, just that he had some cuts on the inside of BOTH ears that were oozing (hence the fluid) and had begun to scab over. I explained that we had just had our dog groomed a few days prior and to that my vet replied, "maybe you should talk to your groomer."
My wife called Dog Spa, explaining what had apparently happened, that the groomer trimmed the inside of my dogs ears too close to the point where he got razor burn. The woman on the phone was so rude to my wife, calling her a liar, saying that we were just trying to get money out of them, etc. that it brought my wife to tears. This was the OWNER who was speaking to my wife... I'm sorry, but if it were about money, we certainly would NOT be bringing our dog to Dog Spa considering how expensive it is.
If this is how the owner, of all people, treats their long-time customers... then we will NEVER bring our dog back again, and we will make it a point to tell every dog owner that we know about our experience.

The customer service that Dog Spa has shown to us has been exceptional. About 2 months ago we realized we were out of Canidae Dog Food late in the day and called Dog Spa to see what time they were open until. They stayed open an extra 45 minutes until we got there. You can not find this type of service anywhere these days. Dog Spa Rocks!!!!

Dear Janet,

I just wanted to let you know how ??Four Seasons, Biltmore~~~Five Star?, the pet spa experience was for Willy and me.

Willy is a California ranch, rowdy; field trained Labrador Retriever, not use to the pampering of anything but my bathtub and sometimes the garden hose after cornering a skunk. Nervous and cranky because of our long-distant move, I wasn??t sure how he would behave at a ??beauty parlor? for the first time in his 9 years.

In California, I prepare for his bath with hazmat like raingear. After his bath the bathroom walls, floor and ceiling, covered with black fur must be closed off for days so the hair can dry and then vacuumed up. A clear path to the backyard is always necessary, as he races around the house, up and over the cat, the sofa, and a final slide across the kitchen floor to the outside and the back yard.

What a pleasant surprise, when I picked him up, all the staff seemed intact, the shop was still standing, and Willy came out wiggly and happy. Mathew did a wonderful job and did not seem phased by my 9-year-old, 90 lb., juvenile delinquent, Willy.

Your pampering DOGSPA has us both hooked~~~~~~~~?Five Star? and beyond !!!!

Most Sincerely,

Nell Abercrombie and Willy (Whiskey Will Do)

My very cautious Chihuahua has been going to the Dog Spa for a couple of years. She is returned to me not only looking terrific, smelling terrific but is also very calm. If you know Chihuahuas it's not one of their traits. I highly recommend them for their loving care and talented staff. You won't be disappointed.

I have just started going to Dog Spa and have found everyone there quite helpful and friendly. My dog goes to Denise who does an amazing job on my poodle. I now have a new pup and will even be buying his food at the spa, as they carry the best quality foods for your dog, not to mention toys. I gave it 5 stars and think they deserve it.

I teach therapy dog classes, and my two therapy dogs are often in the public eye as ambassadors for a well known pet program on the North Shore. They have to be well groomed for their appearances, and they need careful handling so that they remain friendly when petted, and even prodded, by strangers, elders, or disabled people. The professional staff at Dog Spa provide the services I need with no worry. Denise is one of the best groomers in the state, and makes my dogs look their fabulous best. I'm less concerned about my own ego, and would gladly overlook any hint of snobbishness (which is often a misperception anyway) to get my dogs the best treatment on the grooming table. I've taken them other places, too, because I have lots of groomer friends, being a trainer, but I can honestly say that this staff is on a par with any of the best and I am as confident letting them do my dogs as I am doing them myself, and I am a graduate of NY School of Dog Grooming.

I have taken my Dixie to Dog Spa several times. I find the staff wonderful, and even though I seem to only go over there when I look like something the cat drug in, they are wonderful to me. I don't know why, but the timing just happens that way... I also do find them expensive, but no more so than a comparable boutique elsewhere. Their products are top shelf, and they are more than willing to help you figure out what is best for your dog. Also, the first time I went there, they gave me a full tour of the place and made sure I knew where Dix would be staying when she was there. When I call they are friendly on the phone, and they have made time for me in the past when I know they were already busy. When I have had to cancel for some reason, they have been understanding - and again, if I am looking terrible because I have been cleaning the house all day, they don't treat me like a beggar! So, I COMPLETELY disagree that anyone there is snotty. I have found them wonderful. Perhaps your own behavior was the problem.

Today I was at the Dog Spa and I wasn't impressed at all. Just as the last two times I was there the three salesladies on duty where hovered in one corner whispering and talking within their circle and ignoring me and another customer. I had to ask twice if someone could help me at the bakery counter. They were not interested in the fact that I was attempting to purchase cookies...it appeared that their conversation was priority. I will do my best to not go back there in the future. They are very rude! Very snooty too! There is nothing special about them

I returned to the DOGSPA today after a year to find that they reopened following an unexpected temporary closedown. As I looked around the store to see what/if anything was new, the employees seemed busy and talkative with each other. I was asked if I needed any help and told the woman that I was "just browsing". She nicely said "Browse away". I was by the register and the normal voices stopped and whispering began. I had to wonder while all of the sudden that was the case as I was the only shopper. In any case, it was a bit uncomfortable for me and not the ideal customer experience... Why couldn't the whispered conversation have occurred until after I departed? Or at all? Very rude. I determined that, once I was looked up and down and whispered about I would not return again despite my $57 dog food purchase. Too bad they lost a customer, who spends over $500 a month on my two dogs, and am also in the professional pet services industry who will not stay closed-mouthed when other clients and peers ask me about DOGSPA. I had previously had very good experiences at DOGSPA prior to it's first closure. It's a shame they seem first class in their facility design and product offerings but acted with no class when it came to retail customer experience.

These guys have the cutest paraphernalia for the tiny tykes. Karen is great, and so is Nita. You won't be sorry if you take your small dog there for class (and I'm a trainer who also teaches class for our petite pals).

When I say to my dog, "do you want to go to Dog Spa?", his head turns.

This is by far one of the best grooming facilities I have seen. The staff does an excellent job with grooming, especially on my bulldog who has tear stains. When he comes home he is happy, smells fantastic and all of the tear stains are gone.

A bit pricey over other groomers, but the service and caring staff are worth the extra money. Plus the place is kept so clean that you'd never know dogs are in and out all day long. Highly recommended!

We've been using dog spa for a little under a year, and we've been very pleased. The prices are good, very close or the same as local groomers and petco etc but they do a much better job. Our bichon always comes home so white and fluffy. Her eyes and ears look nice and clean. Her nails are trimmed and filed. The cut is done textbook good.
The staff is always very professional and friendly. The groomer that we use is very good with our dogs.
The grooming area is very clean and well maintained. You can look in through the glass doors and see everything that is going on
The also sell dog supplies. Some of it is real foo-foo but some of it a good quality regular items like collars, leads and high quality foods
I reccomend dog pa to everyone I know with a dog. They are well worth the 25 minute drive from our house
