This Castleberry Hill Italian restaurant is redefining what it means to be 'a pizza place.' Slice is one of a kind...a hip New York-style pizza joint slinging handmade pies, fresh salads and oversized subs, all at an affordable price. Slice has grown from a secret Atlanta hangout into a two-location pizza destination with an unpretentious, young and hip atmosphere. All-glass fronts let natural light pour in and high, exposed ceilings lend a clean, industrial edge. This metro Atlanta pizza spot provides patrons with live entertainment and a great night life alternative to your traditional bar or high-end Italian restaurant. Call in to order takeout if you choose to dine at home, but the funky and fun ambience in Slice beckons you to stay for a while. Grab a friend and head to Slice on Peters Street for a great vibe and unbeatable pizza.

Editorial by Citysearch

In Short
A slender slice of Castleberry Hill real estate, this gleaming, glass-fronted space blends the emerging loft district's minimalist character with bombastic urban flare. Known for their late-night lounge and a deafening hip hop soundtrack (live DJ's included), it is as much see-and-be-seen as it is artistic pizza den. While salads and mediocre Italian entrees dot the simple menu, the pies have a touch of NY serious--some of the best in town. Thin on the bottom with a chewy-yet-crispy outer crust, the rim gets dusted with hint of garlic butter--acting as the pie's secret weapon and end-of-the-slice surprise. As a bonus, toppings come complete with an extra smattering of that soft white mozzarella for good measure. Cleverly adhering to the artists in the 'hood, look for cheap PBR tallboys to quench your thirst.

Key Points

  • Delicious, NY-Style Pizza
  • Great Lunch Menu & Specials
  • Live Entertainment, Drinks

The Inside Scoop

  1. Know Before You Go - The kitchen closes at 11pm Friday and Saturdays, but the bar stays open until 2am.

Ratings_icons Went downhill

Slice was pretty good when it opened. Now we hardly go anymore because the quality seems to have deteriorated. We don't care about the club-style atmosphere, so maybe we're just missing the point.

Ratings_icons Became a disappointment

herbert w.

When it opened I had high hopes for it being a decent place to get pizza.
Basically I stopped going after 4 months of living in the neighborhood.
Their food seems to have taken a back seat to their purpose of having SLICE open. Djs playing too loud music and a vibe of a hip hop night club instead of a restaurant.
I always ignored the fact the main bartender usually ignored me and never really was polite to me. Yet when their obvious customer base walked up to the bar he was all smiles to them.
I will never go back.

It's a great place to go with friends if you just want to hang out and chat. It's in an obscure location but once inside the decor makes you forget that you were just accosted by a homeless person that offered to watch your car for a buck!!!

Ratings_icons Bar with Pizza

ATLFoodie

I have been to Slice a few times, but usually get take-out. I tried eating here once. It was way too loud and the service was not very attentive. The pizza is expensive, but a better option instead of ordering Papa Johns.

Pros: Pizza

Cons: Atmosphere

Ratings_icons Worst atmosphere and disgusting food

alexis125

Apart from the obnoxiously loud music, the pizza made me very sick. Without going into any details, I was up all night with cramps and other 'problems.' Unfortunately, the food and music weren't the only issues. The staff were rude and slow. Avoid this place at all costs!

Pros: none

Cons: everything

Ratings_icons NOT SO EXCITED...

faithfal

While Slice has good food, the experience was definitely mediocre. The service is absolutely dreadful. Once seated, I waited 15 minutes before the server even greeted us and took the drink order. By the time he came back, I had forgotten what I wanted to order. He was very distant and didn't have any enthusiasm in regards to his job. We felt like we had done something to him. By the time the food came I had already had 2 naps and was well out of my drink. NO REFILLS, NO IS EVERYTHING OK. The food is good but the service is AWFUL. Will not be returning.

Ratings_icons No hurry to go back.

I've been to Slice a few times, usually at the request of a friend to meet there for quick drinks. I can't say anything bad about the place or anything really great. Maybe it's just me, but the vibe in there is just weird to me. Each time I've been, it seemed like the place was really packed with guys who seemed like they were all scoping each other out. I just don't know, a little suspect to me. If I met a guy that mentioned they hung out at Slice, it would definitey raise an eyebrow.

Pros: Peters Street

Cons: Just Not Feeling It

Ratings_icons LOVED the atmosphere, the service, nice chill spot

ohfynest

I absolutely love this place!! I visited Slice during my visit to Atlanta and had a complete BALL!! The DJ was playing a mix of 80's and 90's music, reggae, and current music, the pizza was great. I appreciated the unique toppings and recipes that they created. I had fun, and did I mention that it was on a Sunday? LOL!!

Pros: the pizza, service, live DJ

Cons: parking, the space is small

Ratings_icons Just ok

tiffnicky

Slice is just ok. The 3 times that I have been, the service has been either decent or just poor The bartenders seem hurried and its hard to get their attention, but that must be because its usually packed and Slice is very small. You seat yourself and hope that a waiter will notice you in a timely manner.Prompt and attentive service is not guaranteed.

Take Slice at face value, a place to go for a slice of pizza and maybe a drink. There is a dj but very limited seating. I am not in a hurry to go back.

Cons: limited street parking, service

Ratings_icons Not worth it.

newg86

It's a conversation spot for drinks, but nothing more. The food isn't that great and it's over priced for what it's worth. I ordered shrimp and got 5 shrimp and a mint for $10. And the service isn't that great.

Ratings_icons Good pizza, but not the best

smatl

I went to Slice on Peters Street in search of a new downtown lunch spot. The atmosphere was very club/bar like even at noon on a weekday...I was completely out of place in my suit. The service was friendly and the pizza was good, but nothing spectactular. I won't go back unless it's someone else's choice.

Pros: Easy Street Parking

Cons: Bar environment even during the day

Ratings_icons Expected More

nomorelies

I sent to Slice Saturday afternoon with a friend. I expected parking to be a hassle but it wasn't. However, once we got inside the establishment I wasn't overly impressed (over crowded and inappropriate behavior) but I figured I would give it a chance. We decided to place an order to go since it was PACKED from end to end. It took a while for the server to even acknowledge our presence. Once she did, she passed us on to the bartender. Two gentlemen were nice enough to give up their sits by the bar when they noticed us lingering behind them (trying to get the bartender's attention). After sitting for several minutes without our presence being acknowledged, we decided to go some place where we could hear each other think much less speak. I thought that the other review commenting that it was kind of a "hood-like" spot was an exaggeration .... sadly it isn't. Although I will continue to support small businesses, I am not sure if I have any desire to go back there.

Pros: Full bar selection

Cons: We may need a drink before you get there

Ratings_icons Great Little InTown Gem

Being from the Northeast it's has been hard to find good pizza in Atlanta.... Then I found SLICE... The food really is excellent! Good pizza, cocktails and an upbeat vibe that's fitting for it's locale. If your looking for a cool lounge with a cross-section of Atlanta's 20, and 30, somethings, old school classic movies playing on the flat screens, and a modern decor' then this is the place for you....

Pros: Quick Street Parking, Cool Vibe, Cool Design

Ratings_icons The Meet & Greet Spot of Today

as1220

Slice is the spot for meeting new people, enjoying great food and drinks. If you are looking for a place to enjoy fresh pizza with a variety of topping to choose from Slice is the place. Don't forget about the full service bar, the COSMO's are excellent! Singles meet other singles, friends gather to catch up and people watch. The ambience is hip yet cozy. Check out the DJ on Wednesday and Saturday nights!

Ratings_icons Pretty darn good!

cackah

I went to Slice for the first time over the summer and I enjoyed the atmosphere. Even if you are just going there for a couple of drinks, it's a cool spot. My third time there I finally tasted their pizza and I must say it's pretty darn good. I probably should have tasted it sooner instead of focusing on their wide variety of alcoholic beverages. I haven't been since the summer but from what I remember Thursday nights seem to be the most crowded. I really like this spot. The waitstaff is very friendly and the crowd is hip. They even have comfy sofas if you choose not to sit at a table! I recently saw that they opened I new location right by the Compound! Hopefully it's as attractive as the original!

Pros: hip, good food, good drinks

Cons: secluded location, limited seating

Ratings_icons Different, but good

houstoib

So the place is loud, plays hip-hop, small, crowded, but good food and service. The pizza is very tasty and the service friendly and fast. However, it is a small place, and in a VERY bad location.
At first, I almost missed it with how empty the streets are and nothing is around it. There's low lighting and it feels like a dance club with the hippity hop playing at loud volume. Then, there's only like 10 tables and a bar. However, it was Thursday night and it wasn't that crowded, but it seemed that way just off the size of the place. The pizza was great, so take the good with the bad.

Pros: pizza, service, people-meeting

Cons: location, seating, noise

Ratings_icons great fresh taste

tara0507

My very first time was a little overwhelming because of the crowd. I love the pizza, it has a great fresh taste unlike that bland taste of pizza hut and other franchise pizza restaurants. I recommened this this joint for anyone who is looking for pizza way out of the ordinary over cooked american pizza. I feel that it may be a great place for anybody single and for one who is very social.

Pros: fresh pizza/drinks, inexpensive

Cons: parking, crowded

Ratings_icons Good pizza in Castleberry

Thin crust pizza that's pretty tasty. Pick your own toppings. The place has a funky vibe. Good for a quick drink and a slice. Movies play on the flat screen TVs.

Slice has turned ghetto. the place to be if you're in the rap scene but for a nice slice of pizza and a drink you're better off some where else
