I have had good French toast before but West Egg's Banana Bread French Toast takes the cake. It comes topped with Caramel sauce and fresh cut bananas and definitely tops the list of best ever.

This seems to be just another brunch spot that gets lost in the mix. Nothing standout about it good or bad. Just kind of unforgettable. I had the challah french toast and my husband had the Georgian Benedict. The coffee is kind of gross. Wouldn't go out of my way to recommend this place, but wouldn't tell people to stay away.

I recently tried the green tomato wrap and pancake with my wife at West Egg Cafe. The pancakes were good and quite filling. The green tomatoes in the wrap really didn't have very good seasoning. I grew up on fried green tomatoes, and everyone I talked to told me to try this place. I just really wasn't impressed. One of the managers actually started yelling at our server in the kitchen, but it was loud enough to hear. It might have just been a bad day when we came, But I won't be eating there any time soon

This is a neighborhood spot for me and I really love the service and the great coffee shop style vibe. They have a great selection of coffees to choose from and their breakfast dishes are varied and affordable. I really appreciate that they offer very traditional as well as more creative breakfast options. The service is always friendly. I brought cupcakes to a client meeting instead of standard donuts and they were thrilled.

I love being able to go to a small, independent establishment for breakfast and a decent cup of tea. I love the atmosphere and the menu. The only downside is the limited amount of parking.

Brunch was delicious. I had the french toast and a sausage egg and cheese biscuit. I must say that the biscuits are some of the best I've ever had. I was a little disappointed to find out that they were out of the cupcakes I had heard so much about. I wasn't too pressed about it, but my girl insisted we come back the next day (Sunday) a little earlier to try to get one. On Sunday I got the banana bread french toast which was just as good as the regular french toast but a little heavier. This time we were lucky enough to get there while there were still 3 cupcakes left. My girl had our waitress reserve them for us, but apparently the message didn't get delivered and another waitress sold them to a different table. Cupcakes aren't really my thing so it didn't matter much to me, but my girl was upset... needless to say, it was a little harder for me to get the cupcakes after we got home.

I stopped by around 12:30 on a Saturday with a friend. We were seated within 10 minutes but it did take a little while to be seen to by our waiter. We both ordered a menu special that consisted of egg and turkey chorizo. It was very tasty as was our sweet tea. Portion and price were reasonable as well. I was hoping to try the Coca-Cola cupcake but they were all out by the time we got there. Same with the chocolate chip cookies. However, the red velvet cupcake we tried was delicious. The icing was buttery and the cake was moist. I guess next time we'll try to get there a bit earlier so we can try the others before they run out! The only real negative I have is that the parking was valet and I prefer to hang onto my keys if possible..personal quirk. We parked a few blocks away and walked. Maybe after the massive construction happening all around it is over the parking problems with be over, too.

I came in for lunch today and to pick up my dozen assorted cupcakes. My lunch went very well and the food was delicious; however, the service at the counter to pick up my cupcake order was HORRIBLE!
I was standing near the counter where I saw my name on an empty box. A young girl with a brown West Egg hoodie came by, asked if I needed help. I said I was here to pick up my ordered (I pointed to the box). She said "You can pick it up", when I didn?t immediately do so she repeated herself 3 times, each time speaking slower and clearer as if I didn?t speak English or I was retarded. When she grabbed the box and opened it and saw that it was empty all she said was "OH". I then asked her how she felt after trying to make me feel like an idiot. Her smug response was "I feel fine". No sorry nothing.
She packed up my order, charged me my $25 gave me my change and said nothing more.
I?ve e-mail Jennifer the owner twice with no response what so ever. The disappointing cupcakes matched the disappointing service.

I wish I lived closer to Howell Mill just so I could eat at West Egg more frequently. The menu is incredibly diverse, as well as the staff. I recommend the Fried Green Tomato Wrap, a large glass of fresh-squeezed orange juice, and a biscuit - which comes with cinnamon butter. Well worth the drive into the city.

West Egg has been a welcome addition to West Midtown. The food quality and value is great. Serving breakfast and lunch to a hip, local, artsy crowd with kids. Customers are diverse and have discovered West Egg is a small haven for patrons with kids. It wasn't always this way, but has become more so as of lately. Therefore, as I prefer a quieter, more adult atmosphere I no longer frequent West Egg but do adore their grits and appreciate their selection. The basics of omelettes, biscuits, benedicts, etc. along with pork, turkey or soy options, with specials which usually include a Mexican inspired breakfast burrito, to caesar and teriyaki salads and unqiue sandwiches makes this eatery a happy medium for all. Making the experience all that cheery is their homemade cookies and cupcakes! Service is good, food is great and prices are fair. The nearby construction of the White Provisions complex makes parking difficult. Off street parking available around the corner on Brady.

I'm typically terrible at getting up at a reasonable hour in the morning, but this morning I managed to be up on my feet by 6:30am. That's cause for celebration! I went looking for somewhere to eat. I was heading to Waffle House, but I noticed West Egg and decided to give it a shot. I was very pleased.

Getting there at 7:10am, there were maybe two other customers there. The waitress was very friendly and pleasant, and the food came out very quickly.

Pancakes - Very good, bordering on excellent. Big (but not too big), fluffy, soft, and yummy. I forgot to try the spicy butter, but I've heard others rave about it.

Biscuit - to DIE for! This was a truly excellent biscuit, in my opinion. Great taste, lightly chewy, and fluffy. I ordered mine with bacon and cheese (in a complete momentary lapse of reason I forgot to get egg on it as well).

I can't wait to bring friends here and to brag about my discovery. Give this place a try, folks.

So many great choices in the ATL for Sunday Brunch. West Egg has now joined the ranks of Java Jive, Crescent Moon and Ria's Bluebird. And the prices are just amazing compared to other Brunch options. Hands down, for me, it's the Fried Green Tomato Wrap-Bacon, Scrambled Eggs, Horseradish Dill Cream and Cheese. This is pure new age Southern Breakfast nirvina. The gourmet coffees are terrific. My brunch companions love the Buttermilk Pancakes w/Spicy Honey Butter. And that Piemento Cheese and Bacon Omelette. Again, the prices are right on!

First of all, very pleasant service is guaranteed at West Egg. Second, a great place for breakfast food served with a unique twist. I'm a big fan of the Green Tomato Breakfast wrap and the pancakes with honey butter. In an unusual location on the West side of the city but well worth the ride for its food, service and price.

I understand breakfast places are busy on the weekend so I can accept a 30 minute wait on a Sun. @ 12 and actually expect one...but to leave 2 hours after you sat down because of almost comically poor service is a little much. I'm an easy to please person and I know West Egg isn't the Ritz dining room, but as you'll see, some things should be standard for any dining experience. So our party of 4 sits down @ 12:30. Our 'waitress' asks for our drink orders and we say we would like to go ahead and order as well. She seems to have a really hard time comprehending the concept and asks if she can take our drink orders first then she'll go back around the table and take the food orders...anyway. 10 minutes later we get 1 coffee and 1 water. 10 minutes after that we get 3 glasses put on the table and she proceeds to pour the water at the table...and on one of my party. 20 minutes goes by and my other friend who had initially ordered a cappuccino still has none. 10 minutes later 2 plates of food come out and the runner asks if we need anything else. We say "the rest of our food". She then looks at us and says what food not seeing that only 2 of 4 people had food. She disappears as she 'checks' on it and 10 minutes later our space cadet waitress returns and offers the same "How is everything" refrain and again like her co-worker, oblivious to the fact that only 2 people have their food. 15 minutes go by and we have to force our friends to eat theirs due to their desire to remain polite until we get our food. Over an hour after initially sitting down the manager comes out with the rest of our food. Did I mention part of the order was wrong? Yeah, well it was, but we were so hungry that we ate it. 2:30 and to condense: the check was completely wrong, took 30 min to sort out, we were charged for everything we got and didn't get and when we finally got the correct check...no pen to sign. Ground control to Major Tom...West Egg staff is needed back on Earth.

I have updated my rating to Recommended (from Highly Recommended) after visiting West Egg more than 20 times. West Egg is a fun and quirky place. However, they are inconsistent and we have found ourselves leaving dissatisfied more and more lately. The service is usually attentive, but we frequently have to wait a long time for our specialty coffees from the barista, sometimes until after our meal is delivered. One time, the waitress stated that another waiter had taken my coffee, but it took another 15 minutes to get my new one. I was floored that my coffee order did not go to the front of the line after this incident! The food is another inconsistent area. While they have specials that are unique and pretty yummy, and their biscuits are better than Flying Biscuit, the grits are often underseasoned and the scrambled eggs are frequently overcooked, rubbery, and hardly have any cheese (which I always request). We keep going back because it is one of the only places with good specialty coffee and a unique menu, but we have stopped going as often because of the things I mentioned. We haven't given up hope yet, but if things don't improve, this will no longer be our favorite place for breakfast.

Too bad this once hidden dive is now a frenzy on the weekends for brunch. The air conditioning hardly helps. The staff is overseated and the wait times are high. Not to mention with the crowd and the horrible garage acoustics.. you can not hear the person(s) you are dining with.

My husband loves the pancakes, which come with this spiced butter that just adds to the flavor. They're thick and soft, like homemade pancakes. I love the wrap with fried green tomatoes, bacon, egss, and horseradish sauce to wake you up. Add a big soup-sized mug of Cafe O'Lait and a Sunday paper and you're all set for a nice, slow morning. Only thing I didn't like on the menu is the black bean cakes - too mushy. Build your own biscuit is yummy too! If it's nice out, it's worth waiting for a table outside.
