My partner and I had dinner at King & I last night, and discovered that Tom has sold the place. Well, they're off to a really bad start. Read on...

The first indication was the reconfiguration at the front door. We've been eating there

I have been here many times. The beef green curry is the best I've had anywhere. I love this place --service, food, atmosphere. I do here often for special occasions. It is my favorite Thai restaurant.

This restaurant has been around for more than 30 years, and for good reason. The food is excellent. I go there whenever I am in the area (which, unfortunately, is not often enough). It used to be one of my hangouts for lunch, because of the delicious food, reasonable prices, and friendly owner (who was from a family of restauranteers in Thailand). Another Thai restaurant, Bangkok, is in the same shopping center. It is also good, but I prefer King & I.

First, let me say that I had been coming here for a good 20 years, and love, love, love the food. It's always consistently good quality, and a pretty good value. That said, the problem I have with eating there is that the owner, Tom, never stops prattling on about his new restaurant--so much so that my partner and I have stopped going there anymore. In my estimation, if he wants to talk shop with his customers, he could at least occasionally bring out a complimentary appetizer, or something! This is something he has NEVER, EVER done in the 20 years that I have been eating there. If he wants to bend our ears about business matters practically the whole time we are eating there--stopping by the table for a good 20 minutes or more during our dinners there, then he needs to at least show himself to be a good host, and act like he appreciates all of the free advice my partner, who is in the business, affords him. It's basically a busman's holiday every time we have gone there to dine, and it has gotten really old. And his lack of generosity really does rub me the wrong way. 20 years of supporting his business, and he doesn't even treat us like regulars. Somehow, that just does not seem hospitable. In fact, I think it borders on rude...
No longer a fan.

Pros: Really good, consistent food.

Cons: The owner, Tom likes to talk shop way too much!!

A friend took me here after she raved about the spring rolls. The massaman curry was really good. The spring rolls did live up to her comments. The decorations leave a little to be desired but as long as the food is good, I didn't really care.

Probably some of the best thai food in the immediate Atlanta area. Always good food and service. The best is the Lemon Grass Restaurant in Marietta, worth the drive. King and I is our default thai restaurant if we can't make it up to Marietta. Lol.

King & I is located in a strip mall in the Ansley Park area. I would never have thought to eat there but some friends took me and I was not disappointed. The best thing I had there was the chicken and coconut soup. Delicious.

Plenty of parking available outdoors.

A meal for 2 without drinks will run you about $20-25.

This little inexpensive Thai place in Ansley Square is a good family find. All the servers, and the owner, Tom-?, are very friendly. We all love the coconut soup. And the kids love the Basil Rolls. Any chicken dish is good, and the degree of hotness can be adjusted. And very food prices. Easy parking, no fees.

We had reservations for 20 well in advance. Even though we had given the restaurant plenty of notice and they'd taken the time to put together a long table for us, they still only assigned us one server. It took almost one hour for one of our group to get her order and several other orders were incomplete. The ordeal to pay the check was the worst, despite the fact that we checked to see if split checks were allowed prior to ordering.
All in all, good food, slow to no service, raggedy surroundings. Go here for takeout.

After being a regular customer for almost twenty years, it is now time to tell everyone about this wonderful homestyle Thai jewel. Starting with the Tom Yum soup with shrimp, Pad Thai, Chicken Satay, Basil Rolls, all duck entrees, and curries. I've never eaten anything that has not been less than wonderful. Want it Thai hot? Just ask. Need fish sauce. ask and the wonderful friendly staff are at your beck and call. Tom, the owner, will make you feel more than welcome. Oh did I mention how inexpensive the prices are. White tablecloth Thai is good in Atlanta, but this homestyle everyday is the best. Hopefully another twenty years!

My sister and I go there at least once a week and the food is always exceptional. It is a family owned business and the owners are very personable and warm. My favorite dishes are the Tom Kha soup, Cashew chicken, Masaman Chicken and Curry.

Excellent Thai food, the friendliest and most attentive service you'll find in a comfortable atmosphere. Great for dining in or taking out. In nearly 20 years of dining there, I've never had a bad meal or poor service. Also great for vegetarians. Can make most dishes with tofu if you ask. One of Atlanta's first Thai restaurants. Go and you'll see why they have the staying power.

Good, not great Thai food, but you can't beat the friendly service and the warm, if slightly dated, atmosphere. Perfect for takeout, a quick bite on a weeknight or when you find yourself dining alone.
