I am sitting at the Salt Grill right now and couldnt let another minute pass before writing a review about this place! First of all let me start with our server Nick. He was great! Every dish that he has recommended has been wonderful not to mention the wine he suggested for me.....I am very picky. The atmosphere here is sooooo romantic! I have dined in many 5 star restaurants in the past and this is by a long shot the best! I highly recommend this place!

It was a bit pricey but good i would recomend it if you have a few extra dollars to spend on good food. The service was good and they were friendly so overall not a bad bang for the buck go on special occasions

We took a large group to dine. The food was excellent. Best Mojitos in Orlando. Service was a titch slow. The complimentary transportation to and from our resort was fantastic. I would definitely bring another group, large or small, to dine at Salt Island.

I travelled to Orlando for the first time, over Labor Day Weekend, to see Sea World. We (my parents and I) arrived at our hotel (the Wyndham - see my review for that - blech!) on Saturday afternoon, walked around Universal (it was too hot), went back to our hotel and were looking for some place good and comfortable for dinner. The concierge wasn't very good at suggesting so, I looked through a restaurant guide I'd picked up for the area. We all agreed on Salt Island. We were seated very promptly and had excellent service throughout. The meat and fish display tray (similar to dessert trays but, on wheels with ice) and the speed they went through the offerings was rather amusing but in fairness, it was probably good for people who don't know a salmon from a grouper or a filet mignon from a t-bone (*grin*).

The food was fantastic and well prepared - with one exception ... they seem very proud of their fine aged beefs. I had he NY Strip and, while it had a proper amount of fat on the trim, it also had an excessive amount of end grizzle and needed to be marinated (it was a little hard). I decided that it was one flaw, among all our dinners, that I would let pass for the sake of happiness.

The lemongrass mussels were ridiculously good! They have a lemongrass creme brulee for dessert as well (ok, I love lemongrass). My parents also loved their dinners - my mother had so much seafood she couldn't finish.

They also make a mean Mojito - although (note to bartender), your mint needed to be broken down a little further and in smaller pieces ... more of it too!

I would highly recommend this restaurant.

I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Pros: Service, atmosphere (fantastic aquariums and lighting), food (esp. the mussles) parking

Cons: Beef quality needs a little work, perhaps they should ask if a cart explanation is necessary.

The only thing appetizing about this restaurant was the decor. The blue table cloth and tranquil lighting, coupled with cascading waterfall provided a stunning atmosphere. Unfortunately, that's where the quality stops. To say the service was slow is a definate understatement. After one and a half hours we had not received our entree; consequerntly, we asked to have the food boxed "to go", as we had another engagement. Boxing the food without viewing it proved to be a mistake. For instance, my wife ordered the filet mignon. When we returned to the hotel, and opened the food box, we had trouble distinguishing the filet from the baked potato. The "filet" was a ball of meat, poorly cooked and extremely difficult to cut (there were several veins of "grizzel" throughout - very unharacteristic of a filet). There are many good restaurants in Orlando...this is no one of them. One star of five is generous, but as stated earlier, the decor does deserve mentioning.

Pros: Ambience...that's the only thing!

Cons: slow service, mediocre food, expensive prices
