As a first timer to New Orleans I was taken to Parkway Bakery for a Po Boy as it was a food I knew I had to have while in NOLA. I was not disappointed. The shrimp po boy was so stuffed with shrimp I could not begin to finish it. The shrimp were crispy and the breading was out of this world. I had it dressed, because I wanted to have the full experience and I was not disappointed. Since I have been back in Iowa I have craved po boys from Parkway Bakery and that is the first place I plan on eating when I go back to NOLA in October. I cannot wait to take my girlfriends from Iowa there.

I agree that the Parkway serves the best po-boys in the city. Don't forget your forks and napkins when getting the roast beef, the juices will drip and there's so much you almost can't eat it like a sandwich and have to use a fork. The decor is fun with new orleans history and landmarks.

In my opinion Parkway Bakery & Tavern has the best Po-boy in New Orleans. Considering the fact that po boy sandwiches originated in NOLA and there are many restaurants that serve them, this is quite an accomplishment. Not only is the food great, but the atmosphere is nice also. The employees are friendly, and they seem to treat all customers like regulars. If you are in New Orleans and want a great po boy-go to Parkway! I realize that many out of town visitors to the city tend to spend all of their time in the Quarter, but I would like to say that if they want a true NO experience and really good NO food then they should eat here!

This is the place to go for the traditional New Orleans Po Boy. The fried catfish is another specialty of the house. THe back patio is also fun when the wether is nice.

THIS IS A REVIEW FROM A NEW ORLEANIAN: Locals love it!! Best Poboys in New Orleans (authentic poboys are ONLY in New Orleans). Great taste, value, friendly, etc. Cute "down to earth" typical New Orleans neighborhood atmosphere.
Make sure to get your poboy "dressed" (unfamiliar with the term "dressed" - lettuce, tomato, mayo & pickle slices).

Pros: Authentic New Orleans Poboy

Cons: Not really a con - So popular, sometimes crowded, but that makes it more fun!

Man I love this place. Their po'boys are perfect - crunch bread, overstuffed, deliciously dressed. Don't go in nice clothes because you will get messy! The perfect compliment to your sandwich is an icy cold bottled Barq's - you can pop the cap off with one of the bottle openers strategically placed on the walls of the restaurant. The fries are excellent, or grab a bag of Zapp's chips. Complete your meal with a steaming serving of sweet, sticky bread pudding. Does a meal really get any better?

Pros: Great food

Cons: Closes at 8, closed on Tuesdays
