Excellent!

by michael p.

I can understand frustration having to wait 45 minutes, but I think the waiting is clouding judgement of some of the negative reviews I have read about Amato's. I've gone for years to Amato's, and it is usually an excellent experience. Every now and then when the owner Scott isn't there, the food isn't as good as it can be, but even then it is always good and when Scott is there, I have found it to be outstanding. Their pizza is excellent (I think it is the dough), the lasagna also is outstanding, their tomato soup (I think that is what it was called)... if you have never had tomato soup from Amato's, you don't know what you are missing. Even their mac and cheese that my kids order is extremely good with fresh cheese.

For those who complain, my suggestion, let the owner know. For those reading these reviews, go and visit yourself. Keep in mind that people who have good experiences remember the experience for less than 1 week and tell 0-1 person(s) about the experience, vs someone who has a bad experience remembers for 5 months and tell 15-20 people. My bet, these bad experience people didn't speak up if they didn't like the food.

The key to keeping my business, when I have something that isn't perfect and I let them know, how do they respond. I have had burnt food and questionable service at places like III Forks. I still will go and love III Forks, primarily because they have always been extremely responsive to any of my complaints. Amato's has been exactly the same over the years, and my family continues to go... just love the pizza and lasagna!

Burnt pizza anyone?

by Stephanie P. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 5,191

If you look forward to burnt pizza, painful stomach ailments and a long wait-Amatos is it. I have had nothing but bad experiences at this place. I would NOT recommend it.

Great food and atmosphere

by Emily W. | insider Insider | Rank: 27,080

This is a great local place to get great food. The owner is usually behind the stove and is friendly in meeting his guests. The first time in the restaurant we met his "glowing" dad and he was so proud of his son. It was great to see. We love this place.

Amato's Italian Restaurant

by Amy E.

Scott Amato makes the best lasagna I have ever eaten! The tomato basil soup is to die for! Get the soup as an appetizer and dip their yummy bread in it! FANTASTIC!
They also have great pizza by the slice!

Very nice/small

by Raq R.

I loved finding out about this small, italian restaurant.
great food, great atmosphere, except that it is a bit small, they have alot of tables, too many for the location and it makes you feel a bit crowded. the service is the best in town, great food. check it out!
