reasonable price if you wanna eat stirfry beef/chicken unlimited. THe meat is untenderized and kinda tough when they cook it. If they give it tenderizer I give them one star. If they include soft drinks and dessert in the buffet price, i give them 5 stars then. I like the peanut sauces. The galleria location is best with most parking and not as crowded. The atlanta downtown one is small and gets packed cuz gatech is nearby.

Love the concept of picking out your ingredients. They have lots of healthy alternatives and nice sauces. Worked around the area most of last year so I frequented the place every friday with workmates! :)

I love it!! I went to see if it would be a great first date and it was amazing. You prepare you own meal and thats the amazing part! Everything was so fresh and the area where the food is displayed was neat and clean. The service was impeccable and fast. If you want to impress your date Chow Baby is the place.

I went here for my mother's friends birthday. There were about 12 of us and they werent very accomodating to our "large group". We waited several minutes for the waiter to come over to take our drink orders and explain the "chow baby" way of life. We actually ended up leaving to go to somewhere else... I hate that I missed out.. I never got the oppourtunity to sample the food

I love Chow Baby! The food is really good and large portions...I mean it is "all you can eat". I always get the Kung Pao chicken... so good. It's good as long as you don't keep messing up your food. You basically put your food together and season it and everything...and they cook it for you. So if you don't like it...it's your fault :) I had a parking nightmare though. I went one day and left my car in the Valet Parking and went across the street to Slice. When I came out Chow Baby was closed and the Valet guy would not give me my keys! He asked me to pay him 20$ to get my keys back. It doesn't state anywhere that you can only park there for a certain amount of time. Either way it was a mess and I had a spare key so I just took my car and didn't pay him anything... I didn't get my keys until 2 weeks later. I had to keep calling Chow Baby and finally a manager helped me. So word to the wise about the parking!

The servings are huge and the service is great! I love the atmosphere. It is very relaxed and fun! I like standing in the line and watching what others order. I have never been here and not had great service. I really enjoy the chow. Caio!

YUM!!!!

Build your own plate, all you can eat. We always say we're going to save room for seconds...but there is never room!!!

I like the concept, but it is poorly executed.Too much of a chain feel. It was fresh, but just not great. Very disorganized.

August 22, 2010

My girlfriend and I met some friends at The Real Chow Baby on 8/21 and I have to give it mixed reviews. The quality of the food and the prices are good, leaning towards excellent. However, the restaurant was very crowded and noisy, between the crowd and the music that they turned up the volume on in an attempt to make it audible over the crowd. This distracted us from the atmosphere, so instead of enjoying the food, we felt claustrophobic and rushed. Instead of a pleasant evening of conversation over food with friends, we ended up having to yell across a small table.

They need better traffic control on the line as well. The first time through the line, it took 20 min before we were able to put our bowls down to be cooked. The second trip was even longer, close to 45 min!!!

We also have a problem with their policy of adding an 18% gratuity based on the number of tables your party occupies, not the number of people in the party. There were 5 of us in our party at two tables (one seating 4 and one seating 2) pushed together. So when they added in the 18% gratuity because we took up 2 tables, none of us gave any additional tips. We did not feel that a party of 5 warranted that kind of policy. The service was acceptable, but not exceptional, warranting an extra tip over and above the 18% we were required to pay.

On another note, the bathrooms were disgusting. I would have rather used the porta-potty down the street at the construction site.

My friends and I were planning to have a good dining experience and we found one ! Good thing my friend Danny suggested your restaurant . It was very good experience . thank you so much ! See you soon i guess :-)

Pros: perfect dishes

Cons: none so far

July 11, 2010

We dropped by to this restaurant to pacify our hungry stomachs. The first thing we noticed was the type of service this restaurant had to offer. We were not really happy with the wait staff as they were not attentive and made us wait a long time. But the food was excellent. It was thoroughly prepared. If it was not for the food, I will definitely give it 2 stars.

Pros: good food

Cons: terrible service

July 01, 2010

The line can be long but the food is good. I just had a problem with the wait staff - they were very rude and took a long time to refill our drinks. We had to keep waving to get their attention.

June 27, 2010

I had a great time enjoyed my server as well as the food this is a must attend resturant as the ratings say run daont walk you will enjoy...

Pros: Great Service

Cons: None

June 10, 2010

I love the food its always very clean never have to wait for a table! I think u need to get there at the right time to not have to wait but I have always enjoyed my self when I go it is awsome!

March 27, 2010

A friend suggested this place, and though I have tried the concept before and was not impressed, i decided to give it a try anyway. The bad treatment began immediatly upon our arrival at the restaurant. The hostess was rude and hostile. The wait staff was careless and annoyed by our being there, and the manager was an arrogant jerk. We waited forever for a table, stood in line for 45 minutes to choose our food, and then were rushed through the line and interrupted several times by waiters cutting in line. Then, we had to wait another 30 minutes to get our food cooked. To make things worst, the jerk manager kicked us out so he could flip the table before half our party was even done with their meals. He did not ask us to leave. He began clapping his hands and was yelling at us to leave. He was rude, disrespectful, and arrogant. This was a humiliating experience, the food was not very good, and the prices are outrageous for what you get. Do yourself a favor and avoid this dump like the plague.

Pros: Not a single one!

Cons: Humiliating treatment

Chow Baby is one of those unique places that everyone should try at least once. The process of piling up ingredients and waiting in anticipation to find out what your creation is going to taste like is definitely the highlight. What you're bound to discover once the food arrives is there is most likely a reason you aren't an Executive Chef for an Asian fusion restaurant. But not to worry, if you screw up too bad just get back in line and follow one of the recipes posted on the wall - that is, if you don't mind waiting in line one more time.

To really enjoy Chow Baby, you've got to be in the right mindset. Don't take it too seriously, and again, be ready to wait in line.

Pros: DIY experimentation

Cons: long lines, sub-par service

August 11, 2009

My experiences at this restaurant get worse with every visit. Last time I was there I saw 3 co*kroa*hes and they weren't serving lo mein anymore. WTF???
I had to wait in the buffet line for like 20 minutes.

Pros: Can be delicious sometimes.

Cons: not consistent, too busy for enjoyment

August 03, 2009

If you don't like poor services, loud music, burned food at Chow Baby, try HOT BOWL in Roswell. You'll be happy. Similar concept with all fresh ingredients. Excellent services, friendly & helpful staffs, cheaper $6.95 for lunch, $8.95 dinner, kid is $4.95 with soup & dessert included.

Pros: location

Cons: poor

July 03, 2009

Took my son and his girlfriend at lunchtime to celebrate his birthday here as we had heard a lot about it, and were pleasantly surprised by the whole process of selecting items and havng them stir-fried. It was not a long wait from the time we gave our bowls to the cook and the time we sat down at our table. And we had a fabulous server named Jackie, very knowledgeble, especially about saki! Only complaint, my son had a jalapeno pepper in his meal that he didn't put in there, and both my son and his girflriend said their beef was a little tough. We arrived at 11:30 and there was a short line for food, but about an hour later, the line was ridiculously long. I would suggest going at lunch rather than dinner, as our server Jackie stated dinner was always crowded. Other than that, it was great and inexpensive. Fully recommend it.

Pros: Item Selection

Cons: Can be a long wait

June 21, 2009

This place was excellent , but it should stay open longer. It closes at 10 o'clock. Some people go to dinner at 9:30 and don't want to be rushed. I think you would have more business if you opened for lunch Sat and Sun .

Pros: Food.

Cons: Closing Time & Saturday and Sunday Opening.

June 06, 2009

I have been here for everything from family birthdays to girls gatherings. It is a smart little place with great food! Try to Part Time Lover....fabulous drink!

Pros: Something for everyone

Cons: None

February 23, 2009

I really love all the fresh ingredients and options provided at Chow Baby. For $11.99, you can make as many stiry fry bowls as you want. I think this is a fabulous deal. It is a great way to try small samples of different sauces, noodles, ingredients, etc. However, NEVER go during the weekend as it is an unpleasant experience.

I've been several times and the service has become less friendly and competent. I had very good service the first time I went, but it has been very spotty since. Without being asked or warned, we were seated outside in the intense heat without being asked ahead of time if outside seating was okay. We waited an hour for this table, which we assumed would be inside, and we were told in a terse manner that it would be another hour to get a table inside. A hot stir-fry in 95 degrees is not fun at all. As this was a weekend night, there was a long line of people assembling their stir fry bowls and it took forever to get through the line. After waiting in line and then getting the stir fry delivered, I realized that there were about 4 ingredients in my stir fry that I did not put in my bowl. They mixed my bowl with other patrons' food. Our waitress was not friendly at all, brought our waters late, and we had to chase her down several times because she neglected our table. My friend's bowl never arrived and they wouldn't even comp it on the bill after she waited for 20 minutes and was told twice that they'd check on her food.

I am not going to entirely give up on this place, but I will only go on a Monday or Tuesday night around 5pm.

Pros: Good Choices, Unique Concept

Cons: Bad for Large Groups, Long weekend lines, Decline in Service

February 11, 2009

Come and try. You can pick up your own ingridients. Everything is fresh. Good sauces. Open 7 days a week.

January 30, 2009

Went last year for my brother's birthday and was really excited to try their concept....except everything I tried tasted bland! I'm a pretty good cook and tried following their recipes to a t, but still everything was so bad I couldn't finish it. The extra money you pay for the shrimp can be put to better use as they give you 4 tiny, tiny, baby shrimps on a small toothpick.

Pros: ambiance, decor

Cons: food

December 02, 2008

This restaurant gets what customer service is all about. Not only is the food great, but they seem to truly value each and every customer.

Pros: Great Service and wait

Cons: none

October 13, 2008

Me and my wife went here and absolutely enjoyed it. We arrived when dinner started and were greeted with a long line around its building... We were promptly seated and had a wonderful waitress named Chrystal. She was very knowledgeable of the menu and she was very nice! They have a system for fixing your food that is very smooth and cool. All the ingredients are very fresh and fully stocked at all times... the secret to it al are the sauces. they make the dish! i love this place!!!

Pros: great food!!! great servers!!! good atmosphere

Cons: very very crwoded. the place is rather small for the amount of clientele they have..

July 21, 2008

Great place for a date! The food was really quite tasty and such an active unique idea for a dinner or meal. Quick tip: when reading a review consider what kind of person you are. Yes this place was louder, a little hurried, hip, and slighty cramp, but if you're looking for a good time and a quiet intimate dinner is NOT what you're going for then this is it! The food line appears long but it disappears quick. There is a huge menu and ingredients list to look at; you're surprised how quick it moves. The service was fantastic! The cooks even cooked mine in a seperate wok with water instead of oil. I will say the bar area was weak. We visited on a wed. night and it was crowded with a short wait (can't imagine a fri. or sat. night!), so the small bar area wasn't exactly ideal. The area wasn't the best, but it is close to Atlantic Station. All in all very good, the manager even stopped and chatted at the end of our visit, which is rare these days. Definite repeat customers!

Pros: High quality food! You get exactly what you want! Ask for Laura!

Cons: Bar area is weak

July 02, 2008

The hostess wouldn't let my husband and I sit down at a table because we were waiting for two more people even though we wanted to order drinks and appetizers and the restaurant was almost empty. Then we stood in line for 20 minutes to make our own food. My husband ordered a wrap which means the chef puts a tortilla on top of your stir fry - they don't even wrap it up for you. My friend ended up with a fly stir fried in her meal (although the restauarant did give her a free dessert to make up for this). I wanted a second helping but by this time the line was at least 30 minutes long. So for $12 I got a smallish bowl of stir fry that I basically made myself. And the music is REALLY loud. I would never go here again. Noodle and Doc Chey's have similar food but are much tastier and cheaper.

Pros: Calamari was delicious.

Cons: Service, wait, food quality, ambience, parking, price.

April 09, 2008

This is the best thing since sliced bread! Food is to die for! Plus it has a full bar . I love this place so much me and my husband are thinking of buying a Chow Baby!

Pros: To die for!

Cons: Kinda small

March 16, 2008

Great food, good size portions, worth the money. Went here for a luncheon for my job. Kind of crowed and small restaurant, but its worth the wait and the money. Its all you can eat stir fry. You choose all the ingrediants and they whip it up for you. Lunch time is real busy because they have that special going on.

Pros: Great Food

Cons: Lunch time is croweded as hellllllllll. Need to move into a bigger space.

March 12, 2008

My family and I visited "Chow Baby" for the first time on Monday, February 25, 2008, for my boyfriends birthday, and we were all first timers. Everyone loved the food AND it's all-you-can-eat. There were 17 people total and the server was attentive to everyone equally. We were able to add several different types of meats (seafood, red meat, or chicken) rice, noodle, sauces, etc...just plain great! If your looking for a great all-you-care-to-eat with great price, The Real Chow Baby is where you should go. AND for the icing on the birthday cake we saw, "they call me...US-HER RA-YM-OND", as we were leaving. So it's a GREAT place to eat no matter what your budget is!

February 26, 2008

My brother and I went here for the first time last night and we both absolutely loved it.
It was fresh, fun, and upbeat. The server explained the whole stir-fry concept to help us create our own dishes. The appetizers we tried were really good and great portions (steamed dumplings and egg rolls).
Loved it and forever hooked!

Pros: Number of vegetable options, valet parking

February 16, 2008

If you're one of those crazies who likes to park with no problem, walk in with no problem, order and eat, forget get this place. Give the sheep a second to find someplace else to flock to, then come back. This whole scene is full of fake people who want to be seen, and depending on the size of your party, you could be told of 60-90 minute wait times just to get inside, get a table then stand in line for another 30 minutes. Did I mention the selfish sheep who smoke where people are waiting to get inside? Have fun, or save your sanity and just go to Mama Fu's!

January 03, 2008

Chow Baby is a fabulous meal idea and is well executed, too! The food is fresh and you can havie any way you want it. For those who fear making decisions, there are recommendations on how to create dishes. For those who know their tastes, it can be fun and adventurous! It is a bit pricy if you are a light eater, one round costs the same as two or more, so go hungry!
The only way to park is valet, and it is s-l-o-w. the restaurant is always packed so take your patience!

Pros: Really fresh and to your specifications

Cons: LOUD - you cannot carry on a converstaion; slow - plan a long lunch.

November 28, 2007

I have eaten at Chow Baby at least 5 times, and have ALWAYS had great service! It is a classy, and trndy restaurant with high quality food, and excellent mixed drinks. It is a good atmosphere for a first date, and does not cost a lot even though it seems like it would! the music is a little loud, but not too bad.

Pros: unique, classy, great mixed drinks, and get a LOT for the money!

September 03, 2007

I ate here last night. I arrived a few minutes before opening time and there was a line to get in. The restaurant was beautiful inside, I love modern decor, but more importantly, the food was delicious. Heck, I was shocked that the reviews of the place actually match my eating experience. I have tried quite a few restaurants based on reviews, and then left disappointed, saying to myself that review as so not true, but this one was. I left a happy camper. FINALLY!!

Pros: Great food at a great price

Cons: There may be a line to enter; parking, but they have complementary valet parking

August 13, 2007

A friend and I ate at Chow Baby last night. It was my first time dining there and the server was helpful in explaining the different options and warning me against certain novice errors. The food was delicious and came out promptly, but my drink was a little on the weak side. There are a number of options to choose from and there's no reason to not like the food when you custom design your entree.

August 10, 2007

Great place to eat. The service and the food was outstanding. I would definitely come back and bring lots of people with me.

June 02, 2007

Don't get me wrong...I love the food here. I love the nutrional information printed on the wall for the different sauces, and the choices on the food bar are outstanding. But, if you like to relax while you eat, this is not the place for you.
Typically, the music is mostly dance and techno, and it's cranked up to levels that make normal conversation almost impossible. Indoors, people shout to each other over the noise of other customers and loud music, so this last time I opted for the patio...only to find the speakers blaring even louder outdoors. When I requested that the music be turned down, it was nudged down a microscopic amount for a little while and then cranked back up after a half hour or so. The wait, depending on what time you arrive, is anywhere from long to extremely long; the line for the food bar is very long, and by the time you've sat outside waiting for your food in the blaring music, the last thing you want to do is go back for seconds, even if you're still hungry. I found it more stressful than enjoyable. If I wanted to hear music like that and at that levels, I would go to a club, not try to digest food and spend time with friends. Maybe the servers will get the hint if I show up with earplugs next time. Or maybe just go elsewhere....hmm!!!

Pros: very tasy, healthy food with added bonus of nutrional info right on the wall

Cons: LOUD music, extremely high noise levels, long lines, less than great service

February 11, 2007

After hearing about this place I finally tried it. I enjoyed it. While I think that it is odd to go out and pay to have to create your own meal (I thought that a major component of eating out was having the benefit of a chef prepare your food) I did enjoy this place and will go back. The atmosphere feels hip and stylish but the prices are very reasonable. I also appreciate that they give you the calorie content of the sauces, so another great feature of the restaurant is that your meal can be as healthy (or unhealthy) as you like.

Pros: can be healthy, good people watching, very good warm sake

Cons: the loud speakerwhere they call names, feels as though you are in a suburban steak house.

December 22, 2006

I loved this restaurant because of the idea that you have a hand in actually making your dishes. It's fun and you get to be creative! You can be as creative as you want because it's all you can eat! I'm a vegan, and I usually have some trouble with variety at lots of restaurant but Chow Baby has lots of vegan and vegetarian options. It states on the menu it a certain item is vegan, vegetarian, pesca-vegetarian, etc. I've nevery seen a restaurant that addresses so specifically those with dietary limitations, so that you don't have to interrogate your server for 10 minutes to see if you can eat anything on the menu or not. Also customer service is great!

November 20, 2006

I just love this place. The fresh ingredients and variety of sauces make for a new experience every time I go. The service is always great and the place just has a fun vibe. I also love the fact that they started serving fresh tuna and swordfish. Awesome concept and I recommend this place to anyone looking for a unique place to eat and hang out.

Pros: Great food, service, and atmosphere. Valet service removes the hassle of finding a spot.

November 03, 2006

I love the idea of picking your own ingredients before the food is cooked, but if you try to go Thursday through Sunday, the line is very long to be seated and to make your bowl. The bowls are also kind of small so if you don't go back for seconds, it's not really worth the price. If you have a big appetite it is a good value.

October 04, 2006

I truly enjoyed Chow Baby restaurant. The service was great and food was D-Licious :-).
The atmosphere was the bomb,my first visit was during MIdtown Restaurant Week on Wednesday, Septmenber 27,2006. I had been to Mongolian BBQ's in Guam and Japan, and truly missed the fun I used to have, but Chow Baby brought back some good memories and made my experience just as enjoyable. My sister went with me and had never been to a Mongolian BBQ and she had a great time. We had no complaints, she even called her boyfriend and was like baby we have got to come here! I will definetely be back and sitting in JES section( it was either JES or JEN, I believe JES) she was awesome as well as the manager that was on duty that night we closed the place down :-) Great place for friends hanging out, first date, old date whatever. The even had the new Janet Jackson cd playing, what a place.

Pros: service, food, staff

Cons: wish they stayed open later :-(

September 23, 2006

I love this place it is now my favorite resturant. The food is good and plenty and you can make your own dishes. I love the patio areas and the folks are very nice!

August 24, 2006

This place is amazing, food quality is the biggest problem with most restaurants that I've been to, some are swanky some are great deals, some offer quirky meals, but in the end when you place that anticipated first bite in your mouth, many of them just don't cut it for a food lover like me; now to the point, this place DOES, it has great quality ingredients, you design your own meal, they cook it for you. It is that simple and it is good, the sky is the limit with the dishes you can come up with in this place, and it's very very well priced. The wait to actually get a plate, or repeats (since it's all you can eat), is a long one, but worth it.

These guys need a bigger pad.

Pros: A great filling colorful meal for your buck.

Cons: Long wait.

May 02, 2006

Unlike some who think the "mongolian bbq" is past it's prime, the spot is pretty nice. And I've eaten at nice restaurants all over the city.
It has a good vibe and when it's crowded, it's very crowded, so if you want a soft romantic dinner you might want to go elsewhere. Because you mix it yourself, and it's all you can eat, those who complain about the quality only have themselves to blame.
The bartender's are friendly, the drinks are good, and portions reasonable (no the bowl doesn't look very big...but you can go back again and again, duh?)
My date and I thought it was great...we'll be back.

Pros: All you can eat, Good drinks

Cons: 60% patio, Loud space

April 24, 2006

If you're looking for something new to try for lunch - this is the place! Be sure to give yourself some extra time (you may want to make your "lunch-hour" more like an hour-and-a-half), but the food and value is well worth it. On my first visit, I was wise enough to show up around 11:30am, and got through line very fast. However, on my second trip, I ended up walking in at about noon and had to wait a bit longer. The variety of dishes that YOU can make is a wonderful change from the same old lunch restaurant. The food is excellent, and the service that I've experienced has been extrememly friendly and helpful. I can't wait to make it back for dinner sometime soon!

Pros: Variety, Value, Quality

Cons: Noisy, Long Line

April 24, 2006

The Real Chow Baby is now my favorite restaurant! The price is great so whether you come for lunch or dinner, you always get a great deal. Management and staff should hold a class for other restaurant owners on "How To Keep Your Customers HAPPY". The place is always clean and worth the wait(only had to wait once, a Friday night). Over 21? Try the "Part-time Lover", it's really good! Complimentary Valet!!

Pros: Great Food, Great Value, Great Service

October 14, 2005

Mongolian BBQ is a fun concept but it is predictably sterilized in this made-for-the-Atlanta-yuppy setting. The trendiness of the locale and decor is not enough to overcome the poor service, the loud dining room, uneven quality of the cooked food (sometimes cooked well, sometimes not). I was excited to find a Mongolian BBQ place close to town but was disappointed at this restaurant's effort, quality and lack of soul.

Pros: location, concept

Cons: loud, poor service, mediocre food quality
