Laurel Hill Bed & Breakfast

So, let me tell you about this place. My wife and I are return customers, we stayed here almost 2 years ago for one night and thought it was terrific. Naturally this was the first place we thought of staying this trip as well, but this time it would turn out to be one of the worst experiences we've ever had at a B&B. This time we ended up staying in the same exact suite as last time only this time we stayed for two nights.
First, when I say "exact" I mean it: the same work that was unfinished on our first stay was still there; there is an access hole in the side of tub exposing the pipes; the trim was painted but I guess they didn't care to fix the sloppy "over-spray" by painting the walls; a few tiles were missing in the shower; and there were random pipes sticking out of the wall.
Second, there was no one there to greet us when we checked in, so we were on our own to figure out the best way to get around town.
Third and most important, we were denied breakfast on the second day. To actually get breakfast at this place you have to sign up on a chalk board as if we wouldn't want it, at a Bed and "Breakfast"... Here is the funny part, on the first day, we ate breakfast and had a lengthy conversation with the "chef" about what he would be fixing on the second day. When we were finished he actually asked us if we would be at breakfast on the second day and we confirmed that we definitely would be. I also asked if I could just keep my name on the chalk board because we would like to eat at the same time, and he said that it would be fine. Well some time during the day the board got erased and so did his memory. When we showed up to breakfast the next morning they acted as if we had changed our mind about breakfast because we didn't sign up! Are you kidding me?! Then the "chef" had to go talk to the boss, so he asked us to have a seat in the sitting room like a couple of children so we could get talked to by the boss. The 15 minute wait was embarrassing and when he finally arrived he handed us our bill and told us there was a good cafe down the street. No Joke! They couldn't even be bothered enough to offer us any of the many boxes of cereal they had in their pantry!
We will not be back! I wouldn't recommend it either, access to down town is not the greatest (30 min), and the taxi drivers can't find it; not even with a GPS! Thanks for the experience!!!

Laurel Hill is such a wonderful house. They have beautiful furnishing and a GREAT breakfast. We stayed in the Loft suit - a balck and white decor with stunning ceilings and nooks makes this a really cozy room. Laurel Hill is close to pretty much everything in Atlanta and it was super easy to get to - a great weekend away from it all. The only reason that I give it 4 stars rather than 5 is for the grounds. They have a beautiful set up and have even constructed a little path to walk but basically, this is a home in a neighborhood with a backyard. I loved the place but will try to stay somewhere I cannot see other homes (and can see more nature) in the future.
Again, I do not want to discourage anyone from going here - we absolutely loved EVERYTHING about it - just want more nature!
