I am natively indian myself, and so I was extra critical of this place. I loved the way that I felt like I was in an indian home in India. My parents house is too american-washed, but I felt like I was in India again and my aunt and uncles house sitting down for a quiet meal. There were bollywood movies playing on the tv's. The food was amazing, the perfect amount of spice to satisfy my tastebuds and my american friend who isn't a spicy-fan's tastebuds. We got goat, chicken, and samosas. All of it was so good.
Pros: atmosphere, food, spice
Cons: no con

Read the reviews and thought I'd give it a try. The people working there are really nice but the food was really bland. I don't know if they're trying to be conservative with how they flavor things, but this was probably some of the least flavorful Indian food I've ever eaten.
Pros: Very nice people
Cons: Food had next to zero flavor

This is the best Indian food in Atlanta. The service is astounding and I love how the place looks! I like to have little gatherings there all the time. The spiced chai is really good too!!!
I normally order the chicken vindaloo with garlic naan and a side of onion pakoras!!!
Pros: Onion pakora

This is a great Indian place to eat at!! They have the best tandoori chicken and garlic naan and lamb vindaloos. The service is great as well!!! The family-owned restaurant has a lot of class and a very homely feeling. Desi Spice is GREAT!!!
Pros: Great location and ambience, especially seating outside
Cons: Nothing!

The Portion is so tiny it seems I ordered from the Kid's Menu.As for the tea that was not Indian Spice tea it was scorched black and had a horrific flavor that it was worse with sugar. Worst of All the Attitude of the Staff was really ugly and short with Us when we ordered. I will never return and I suggest you and anyone you know that LIKES Indian Food finds somewhere else to fill your craving. You'll leave this place BROKE with no leftovers to revisit the next day.Better yet learn to cook it at home so you know what's in your food. This place gets FOUR THUMBS DOWN!!!!!!!
Pros: NONE
Cons: Cold UN -Tasty Food, Bad Service, Terrible small space, WAY TOO EXPENSIVE!

Great food, service, & location!!! This was my first time at the restaurant and I loved the food...everything was cooked just right & I received great service! I will definitely come back & recommend this restaurant!
Pros: food, service, location, patio

good news first. great service, convivial atmosphere, good location. bad news...the food was sub par, bordering on bland as if made from a packaged spice mix. overpriced and under-prepared. the mango lassi was terrible, watery and more like a thai iced tea in color and sweetness. if this is your idea of good indian food, you are missing out, try other places.
Pros: service
Cons: food

Food and service was excellent! Nice patio and we loved the chicken tikka masala, garlic naan and sag paneer. Father and son owners were really nice. I'll be back for more....
Pros: Great spices

Our favorite restaurant! The food is wonderful - they use the best quality ingredients - everything is fresh. The people that work there are so very nice, too. We always enjoy our visits - food and service are great. Love to sit on the patio when its nice out. All the food is great - from appetizers to dessert. My husband has tried Indian restaurants when traveling - in major US cities and even oversea - nothing comes even close to Desi Indian Spice.

There is no Indian restaurant that does not have a 4 / 4.5 star review. Pl be careful. We are an unethical breed of people and inflate our ratings. Least realising that all indian restaurants end up being 4.5 on 5. Pl use word of mouth and personal discretion to visit all of these restaurants.
I wish health and happiness in yr experimentation with food.

This is one of our family favorite restaurants! Being military, we've frequented many far off places and experienced a number of Indian food establishments around the world. The atmosphere is polished and professional while being comfortable and entertaining at the same time. The food is outstanding and served graciously and prompt. Cloth linens, elegant cutlery and serving vessels elevate the dining experience way above the competition. Highly recommended!
Pros: Linen table covers and Napkins, fresh cuisine, attentive wait staff

We saw a sign for Desi Spice while visiting Trader Joe's. We've been dying for a good curry since we left the UK, and were very pleasantly surprised by Desi Spice. Their lunch special was a fantastic deal. We'd love to go back for dinner sometime.
Pros: The FOOD!! Fantastic Somosa and the Chicken Curry and Tikka Masala was great!

Desperately needed a fix of Indian food and this is where we ended up. Yes, the wait staff is very nice and attentive. And the food doesn't stink but it sure isn't up to snuff. Their chutneys were more like watered down syrup. Found one kind of dead lump of mango in the mango chutney, the mint chutney was sour cream based and whatever that hot chutney was I'll never know. The rice was tasty but on the overall, I'd say that things were below average. We're going to have to cast about for a new spot I guess. Oh, in terms of location, nothing wrong with that location at all. Easy to get to in a revitalized shopping center thanks to Trader Joe's.
Pros: Good Service, you can sit outside
Cons: Not great food

great restaurant. the owner is awesome and is always down to earth with his clients. the food is also spectacular. anything and everything here is perfect. i would highly encourage people who are looking for another indian restaurant to try out desi spice. will definitely go again.
Pros: the food!!!
Cons: location, but still in midtown

My husband and I get takeout here at least once a month. Really great food, authentic and great service. It is wonderful to have a decent Indian restaurant in Midtown! Try the tandoori wings, they rock!

Amazing. I would eat there every day if I could. Prices are okay, but everything else is perfect.
Service is wonderful; food is the *best* I've had; their lunch specials are great ~ every day
but Sunday; and they will make your dish exactly as mild mild or super hot! as you like. My
picks: Samosa, Garlic Nan (lots of fresh garlic here), Mixed Vegetable Curry (I get it hot!), Sag
Aloo, and Aloo Gobi (spelling?).
Also, their onion chutney and mint chutney are awesome. Thumbs up!
Love the family and everyone else who works there. Outside seating is nice. Inside seating is
romantic. Can be casual or dressy ~ everyone welcome.

The outdoor seating on the patio at Desi Spice is a great place for a relaxed meal. They never seem busy, so it's easy to get a table, even for big groups. If you sit inside, be warned... the Bollywood playing on the TV is very addictive! This is not the best Indian food in town, but it's one of the best overall Indian dining places in Atlanta. The service is wonderful.
Pros: outdoor patio seating, very attentive service
Cons: parking can be very difficult on weekend nights

Food is wonderful, atmosphere is so so but the service makes up for it. Well worth the trip! Reasonable prices too.
Pros: Excellent Food & Service
Cons: Atmosphere not the greatest.

The food and service is always excellent. The price is reasonable, especially compared to other Indian restaurants in the Atlanta area. I definitely recommend this restaurant to everyone!!! This place is a favorite of mine!!!
Pros: lots of parking, friendly service, great food

We have been to Desi Spice many, many times and it is now a part of our regular dinner "rotation". The food has NEVER disappointed and the service and owners are always friendly and appreciative. Whenever we have introduced friends to Desi Spice they have always loved it. The atmosphere is nice - space is a little small but nice and they run Bollywood flicks on a TV, which is always entertaining. It is great to have Desi Spice in the neighborhood and it is a pleasure to support a great, friendly neighborhood restaurant.
Pros: Great food, friendly service, reasonable prices

Not only was the food good, but the service was great! The outside setting is nice too; I've never been to an Indian restaurant with outside seating.
Pros: priced well, good area
