I lived in this town for three years without ever stepping inside the Hip-Hop. After being told around town they know their fried chicken, one day I went inside and now I wouldn't consider getting fried chicken anywhere else. The strips I think are what makes this place shine. The flavor is fantastic and the portions 'healthy'.
I think this is one of Tallahassee's best kept secrets, if you haven't tried this place. Try it. My only complaint is that orders take a while to fill, you should call ahead if you're driving over. On the plus side, that's because everything is made from scratch (chicken is floured/breaded to order).
Overall, the best fried chicken strips in Tallahassee.

Pros: Chicken Strips are the best
Cons: Long wait as all the food is made from scratch
I had the same problem as the first reviewer. My chicken definitely tasted a bit like fish. And since I had a combo meal I also got a piece of fish in the same meal. No surprise, it tasted a bit like chicken. ha-ha. Not a HUGE deal since both still tasted great, but if you don't like the taste of one you may not enjoy tasting it on the other. Also, their prices aren't what I'd call fantastic. I didn't walk out the door feeling as if I'd gotten a wonderful bargain, but I definitely got my money's worth.
PROS: Nice food, friendly staff, locally owned. Grilled shrimp kabob is awesome and very well priced!
CONS: Not much bad to say if you don't mind the cross-flavored food. They could trim a bit off the prices, but I won't begrudge a business for trying to turn an honest profit.

My friends and I like the fact that the price here is pretty good, however, each time I've tried hip hop fish and chicken, my chicken has an aftertaste of fish. So, I'm not sure if they use the same oil to fry their chicken and fish in. I also like the fact that they give you more meat than a wing joint
