Laissez Les Bon Temps Roulet
by Donna B.
Downtown Anderson is in the beginning stages of revitalization. I have no doubt it will quickly become the place for the citizen of discriminating tastes to be because of the addition of restaurants like Jax New Orleans Bistro. The meals I've had have been as good as Commander's Palace or any other fine establishment the Big Easy has produced. I don't know if the chef or owner are from LA, but if they're not, they must have been in another life. The meals are made from scratch, the meats are top of the line, and the service is terrific. The wine list is well represented and the decor is well done southern elegance. The value for the food quality is surprising very good and the wine isn't overpriced like most restaurants of this calibre. The Chef is personable and the owner, John, is always there to make sure your experience is memorable. The NY Strip will melt in your mouth and the Chicken Boudin is juicy and just the right amount of spice. They serve Po-Boys and Muffalettas among other things for lunch and in the lounge. Of course they also have all the expected dishes like Etouffees and Jambalaya. The atmosphere is upscale, but the staff immediately makes you feel comfortable whether you show up in a jacket or jeans. No pretentiousness here, just excellent food and service. I can't wait for our office Christmas party which will be at - you guessed it - Jax New Orleans Bistro
