It was my birthday and I decided to be a tourist in my own city. I went downtown and spent the better part of the day on the River Walk. I took the boat tour, ate lunch at the Rainforest Cafe and finished my day at the Alamo.

30 minute wait to get seated.
Lots of tables not being used so didn't know why there was even a wait.

Ordered the burger. Asked "Do you want fries with that?"
Sure right? It comes with it right?
No - fries are $1.25 more but the server

Great dining experience with kids. Many neat photo ops with all the animated animals. Super pricey for what you get. But fun time had by all

The food is not very good especially for the price. There are so many kids in there you can barely hear yourself think. The wait is always way too long and you most likely have to sit outside on the riverwalk or stand and it is usually

I have actually had MRE's that taste better than this junk. Their "Awesome Appetizer" (list price: $14.99) was terrible. The spinach and artichoke dip is almost indescribably unappetizing. The chicken tenders on the Awesome Appetizer must have been deep fried with sawdust and brown sugar. At least the water was free and didn't taste bad. After a while, the moving, screaming gorillas became rather irritating, but I guess that's because we couldn't get any sort of timely service. Also, the kid's meals were equally appalling. Y'know those dinosaur shaped chicken-product nuggets you can get in a kid's frozen dinner? Yeah, that's what you get. along with a bruised banana. The mini-hamburgers came with three strips of carrot that, together, wouldn't add up to be 1/4 of a carrot. Each of those meals are $5.99, as I recall. A quarter-pounder with cheese meal would be more satisfying and cheaper. Get real, RFC. I expect your business will be run out of San Antonio by 2013.

Pros: The kids enjoyed the animatronics and the thunderstorms

Cons: Service...mediocre. Food quality....freeze-dried.

Food was very good. Waiter was Excellent. There did seem to be confusion over our seating. We were sent to the 3rd floor, then the second..then back to the first..... We were a party of 9 with young children and we put in a spot where it was a tight squeeze to get by us. Overall we had a good time and would go back.

We just visited Rainforest Cafe here in San Antonio for the first time tonight 2/21/09. This was to celebrate my grandaughter's 11th birthday. We did make a reservation and did have to wait just a few minutes for them to seat us at a table. We were waited on fairly promptly. The server took our drink order and served us very quickly. Our food came in a reasonable amount of time. The food was very good. It is a bit pricey compared to a fast food resturant but we did not feel it was out of line. The resturant is very entertaining for children as well as adults.

I think for the type of resturant this is and the location of it, I would say we had a very good dining experience.

The initial wait was long, about an hour but that was expected, so that wasn't upsetting. What was upsetting was that it took nearly 15 minutes for the server to great us, only to say "I'll be with you in a minute". So we waited about 5 more minutes. By the time he came back we were ready to order our main course. He took our order and we continued to wait about 30 or so minutes. When he finally came back with the food he brought the other people I was with their food, and asked if I was allergic to shrimp because they had put some on by mistake (I asked for no shrimp on my meal). I said no that I just didn't like shrimp so he said ok, and that it should be right out. I ended up waiting about 8 more minutes for my food to arrive. The server was very nice and professional, it was just all the waiting I had to do for food that was not superb that was upsetting.

It's good for kids but too expensive! My kids loved it but my wallet didn't. It was quite cozy and I did like the store they have downstairs.

This restraunt has a real great family atmosphere, me and my husband took our 7 year old daughter and 2 month old there and it was real nice. The decorations and all could probably use some updating but it was still a great experience and the more important part, my duaghter was in awe and loved the restraunt! The food is a bit pricey and kinda tastes the same as a chillis or applesbees. I probably will not go back there cause of the cost to dine there but would not have changed our pick, its a great restraunt and the customer service, the waiters, they were all great. Oh and you can just go in and walk around all 3 floors of the restraunt too just to look around. Trust me if you are looking for a place to wow your kiddos this is it! Oh and we went on a sunday around 3/4 pm only a 15 minute wait

The Texas Food Critic here:

Hi folks, if you are looking for a great place to take the famly, this is it. We were wowed from the moment we walked into this establishment.

Portions are big, the prices are right. The kids ate for 5.99 with a drink and a side. We had an Asian Mahi and Ribs which were the best meals we've eaten in San Antonio.

Happy dining and don't forget to leave a seat open for me.

We have a family member that we'd really prefer would just go away, like to Mozambique or somewhere. Occasionally, we are forced to act like we care, and this place certainly fits the bill! Nothing says "you probably think you're part of our life" like lifelike jungle animals. Also, there is food with sparklers in it.

Pros: If you have to drag unwanted peple around, at least you can park them here.

Cons: Expensive way to feign intrest.
