We were there few days ago and we have to leave the restaurant because the server told us that we can't bring any other type of food from other fast food chain. The server and manager was made aware that my child is Autistic and only eats the same kind of food. The restaurant doesn't have any sign on the door that says it's prohibited to bring an "outside food". I explained to the manager that we never had problems with the different chains of restaurants in town bigger and much known than his business but he insisted on his so called "policy". I just felt that my child was discriminated at this point and was never given a chance in this restaurant to eat his own food with his family. I'm hoping that this incident serves as an eye opener to restaurant owners because everyone has to be treated equally, no matter whether a person can eat your food in your restaurant or not. The rest of the family members will order anyway. What matters most is a family or even to see customers enjoying their meals together and given accomodations and not pushed away because of a "policy" that does not accomodate a disabled child. Very unsatifying from the manager to the server.
I have eaten here a few times and I think the food is good but not the best I've ever had. I think for a hometown place, it has a lot to offer as far as selection. I have had the Family Restaurant in Frostproof and I prefer it for hometown restaurants. The prices are decent but you do have to wait a while at the Olympic.
Olympic Restaurant is a locally owned and operated restaurant which has been popular since before I moved to town 18 years ago. While every meal I've ever eaten here (and there have too many to remember) has been delicious, my favorite is the fish fingers they serve on Fridays. This opinion is shared by many, as the long wait will prove. The other thing you must try is their potato salad. This is also a favorite of many. In fact, I often order a 5-pound tub of it when I'm having a party or need to take food to some occasion. It is about the best I've ever eaten.
