I discovered Jill's Books a few weeks ago and I love it! I already feel like a "regular". My 13 y/o is equally excited about finding this great book source. The friendly staff is a BIG plus! They have a great selection and equally great deals. I think the shop is quite well-organized. On my first visit, I walked in and asked about a particular title and author. Jill checked the computer and walked right up to it. It was priced HALF what walmart.com is charging and in new condition. She was very knowledgeable about some of my favorite authors and "in the know" about when new books are being released. To my way of thinking, you can't beat a shop with personality! I call Jill's a shop instead of a store because they're so much more personable than the chain-stores. You know the ones, the employees don't care if you find what you're looking for and don't give a fig about your interests and forget carrying on a conversation! Those places are just out to make $$ - not a friend! I foresee a long relationship with the folks at Jill's!
All the books that I've looked through are in excellent to good condition. Normal wear - nothing torn or stale, as is the case in some used book stores. If you can't find something, ASK! They'll find and hold it for you. My bf knows that if I say I want to go to Jill's, I may be gone a while and I'm not coming out empty handed!
If you're in the area, I highly suggest checking Jill's out! Don't forget that it's faster than eBay and you don't have to pay shipping!
BTW - the email listed on this site for the shop is incorrect. Correct address is: firstname.lastname@example.org
PROS: Friendly, knowledgeable staff & GREAT variety - well organized
CONS: Haven't found any cons at this gem! It's like visiting friends!
Jill's New and Used Books is located in Oak Ridge in the shopping center behind Luther's BBQ. It is a great place to buy, sell or trade used books. They have a great selection with a great atmosphere. The staff was very helpful and friendly. They offered a higher level of service than I would expect in a used (and new) book store.
Jill's is very new so there are some shelves that are kind of scarcely populated right now. However, the set up of the store is such an inviting atmospher you don't even notice. They have a little sitting area, where you can sit down with a complementary cup of coffee and browse over a book or two before purchase.
The staff is very friendly. If you don't see a particular book you want, let them know and they will do their best to get it.
They also buy back books for cash and credit, and trade books.
