I have been going to Joya's for over a year now so I guess that I am hear writing this review is almost heartbreaking to me. My family, friends, church family all enjoys the wait staff and the atmosphere, food is awesome and prices are good.
A group of 8 friends of mine went to Joya 12/10/2010 for an end of year dinner. It was our first choice because we had all been there with the exception of two of our guests, on multiple occasions. When I say multiple I mean at least 15 times. Anyway first we were told that our party could not be seated because "we just don't do that". WHAT?? We had gone there with similar number in our party so it was just not understandable. Any who the "manager" said he would see what he could do. We waited over an hour and had to remind him that we were there a couple of times. We did not mind the wait so much as we minded the fact that we felt that we were not being atteneded to. The "manager" there was a guy I had only seen there on one other occasion. Some commented on never seeing him, while others said, yes is one of the owners. When we were finally seated we actually witnessed him THROWING the menus across the table finally looking like a pile of paper in the middle of the table. Because we did not want to ruin the evening or the experience especially for those there for the first time we let that slide. Our waitress was fantastic. As we sat through the 1hour and 15 min dinner service it was pleasant, food was great as usual. As we sat letting our food digest a little (like 3 mins after they cleared the table) this sweet, quiet waitress comes over and says in a sheepish voice, Excuse me I hope you don't mind my boss ask if you can leave, he needs the table. We were all utterly appalled, no let me changed that, utterly disgusted, almost to the point of tears. We have never, nor will we ever, experience such distasteful service. Out bill was $160 dollars which we paid promptly and leaving a 20 tip for our waitress. Needless to say it was directly after observing us payinghte bill that this young lady was used as a pawn by her "manager" to kick us out. We were embarrassed and extremely hurt. Some of my party remarked after we quiet left that they felt he was a racist, as we are black, did have one Caucasian sister in the group which is the reason some felt we were served at all considering that they quote "just don??t do that" seat 8 people for dinner. That I personally know is a lie, I have been there with at most 9 people and served by other mangers with delight and friendliness. It sadden all of us that this experience too place because as much as we all enjoy Joys none of us will be returning. Whether it was racism or rudeness it was horrific and this "manager" is BAD FOR BUSINESS. WE CAN HONESTLY AS A GROUP SAY WE HAVE SPENT OUR GOING OUT BUDGET COLLECTIVELY 1500.00 AT JOYA'S THIS YEAR. Even as I am typing this I honestly don??t know what to think because I have never experienced anything like this before ever, not even at Joya's.

The food is excellent. The service is poor!! Don't go into there with a baby, child or stroller-they look at you as if you are from out of space. The matra de` was very rude; he told me that i could not sit at a particular table-the table was ideal because i had a stroller. the table remained vacant for the two hours that we were there. We returned from a long trip and wanted to get something to eat at what we thought was a good establishment. He then told us we had to wait and later summoned me to be seated with his hand. i questioned if he was talking or referring to me because the music was loud and it was dark. It was not too crowded however as it was a Sunday 8/22/10 night and rainy. Once directed to the table, he rudely and boldly snatched the chair from under the table in an effort to make room for the stroller and my two other guest. I just hope that he is not the owner and just the floor manager--his character throughout the entire time i was there was horrible. The numerous times that I have been there the staff rate a 2 out of a possible 5. Please excuse any errors in the text.

This is my favorite Thai place in Cobble hill/Carroll Gardens area! The food is good and the portions are large; not to mention cheap! The only downside to this place is how loud they play their music. It feels almost like a dance club once it hits 9:00pm! But the food is worth it!

If you like it spicy, order medium...trust me!! hot is just another word for fire you would find in hello.lol..this is my new Thai joint

After flying in from California my Best Friend took my son and I out to eat here. As we walked up to the restaurant I was expecting it be a very posh crowd; I was very surprised to find that it was a super friendly environment. We waited to be seated about 30 minutes which seems to be the norm since it was such a busy place. The food choice was authentic... down to the beer and the price was very reasonable for the amount of food we had (with enough to take home with us). I would recommend if you're in the neighborhood (or not) to visit JOYA.

The best Thai food I have had in a long time. There are plenty of options to choose from. The service is fast and friendly. The decor is very clean and modern. My only complaint is that it is very noisy here and they only take cash!

Joya is a fantastic Thai restaurant - the atmosphere is very hip with a DJ spinning music. There is an outdoor garden perfect for summer nights. The food is fantastic and extremely reasonably priced as is the wine. The one drawback is because it is so good, there is always a crowd. So be prepared to wait almost any night of the week. It is the perfect place to bring visitors.

PROS: Inexpensive, Great Food and Atmosphere
CONS: Very Busy
