I went to Camp La Jolla in the summer of 2003. I can honestly say i LOVED this place. Not only do you lose weight but you learn so much more. I made friends there that have impacted my life forever. I still talk to them to this day. Also, the atmosphere makes you feel like a celebrity. The ocean, california, the people. everything is awesome and the food was just as great. I will say that there were days when i wanted to give up because it was hard but looking bakc now i don't remember how hard i worked or how hungry i was. What i remember the most is the memories. Going to the beach, goin to the mall for the first time all summer and buying a smaller size, surf camp and the late night memories with my roomates. I was to cry just thinking about it.

Althogh it is expensive is the one thing i will thank my mother for for the rest of my life. That place has changed my views on myself and life more than anything I have ever done.

This camp is worth every penny and more!!!

Camp La Jolla is a camp that really cares about your children. They treat every child like they are their own. They instill confidence, respect, love, and self-esteem in children that they will not gain anywhere else. If you have a couch potato, this is THE best way to get them off of the couch and active. They will enjoy everything La Jolla is famous for from surfing to snorkeling, swimming to just being kids. The thing that sets this camp apart from everything else is that they promote a healthy lifestyle, healthy choices, and healthy habits in children. The staff members at this camp are superior, and are above and beyond what you could ever imagine when it comes to their skills with dealing with your children. They understand the inner and outer aspects of being a child, and they understand how emotionally tiring and draining being a kid these days can be. They encourage children to love themselves, lean on others, and make lasting friendships. Your child will love every minute they spend at Camp La Jolla, and while the cost is expensive compared to comparable services, the care your children will receive at Camp La Jolla is superior to other camps in the same field!

PROS: The staff is awesome and incredibly talented.
CONS: The price is costly for most families.

Our daughter is half-way through a 7 week program at Camp LaJolla and we couldn't be prouder. Yes, she has lost significant weight, but the real benefit is the confidence, both emotional and physical, that she has gained from the program. She is 11 and has learned so much about her own potential to succeed at difficult physical challenges. Camp La Jolla makes exercise FUN! The kids are surfing, snorkeling, playing, extreme biking, and always having fun. The administrative staff has great knowledge and experience, while the counsellors have great empathy and motivational skills. It's been great!

PROS: Self-esteem, new friends, physical health improvements, weight loss
CONS: expensive, a long-time to be away from home, though Sunday visits help.
