The Comix Cafe is pretty much your typical local comedy spot. On the whole, you're likely to have a good time, but you won't be blown away. Depending on what you're looking for, that may or may not be a problem. Personally, on most levels I like this place.

However, there are two main detractions of this venue. The first being the layout. Depending on where you are, it can be very difficult to see the stage, particularly around the edges of the main area. The acoustics also seem to be a bit off in certain parts of the room,

The second is that some performers are there a bit too often. When you go someplace 4-5 times within a couple months and have have 2 repeat performers that's a sign that there could be more variety.

That said, I usually have a good time when I'm there and it's a good place for second-tier and local acts that are often just as good as their higher profile counterparts. The place won't win any awards and you won't see any big names there on a regular basis, but chances are you'll laugh hard and often.

PROS: Solid performers, frequent free ticket promotions
CONS: Layout, could have more variety in performers

Wish they could bring more "known" comic in, but otherwise it's a nice night out. Agree with everyone else--for the over 21 crowd. Small room for an intimate atmosphere. The food isn't anything to brag about. They could definitely use a menu overhaul and new cooks. Ample parking.

This is a fun place to go with friends. The drinks can add up but you will spend the whole night laughing. The comics they feature are usually quite funny and the atmosphere itself is enjoyable. I highly recommend this place for a date or night out with friends.

And they have really good comics, too.
This place is definately for the 21+ crowd, as it IS also a bar, and they serve alcoholic beverages to the customers during the show.
The set up of the club isn't all that great, and there are tables where you can be seated where you might be behind a pole. It's bare bones decorating, but it's fairly comfortable.
The wait staff is fairly friendly and provides decent service.
The menu is limited, but not too pricey and most of the food is good.
Drinks can be pricey, so go with a couple pitchers of beer instead of the specialty or mixed drinks.

Some guidelines:

1) There is a $4 per person minimum - everyone at the table has to spend $4 each, average.

2) NO SMOKING...in the bar area or in the club.

3) They won't seat you until your entire party arrives.

4) They take on a 15% gratutity to every check, so you don't need to add extra, unless you feel the wait staff deserved it.

5) If you ask for a "glass of ice water" they'll bring you a bottle of water and charge you for it.

Otherwise, this is a great, relatively inexpensive place to go to see comedy. Check out their website at www.comixcafe.com

This is not under any circumstances the place for children, although great for adults, the comedians are great, there are the perverted ones though, but the decor is excellent, the food is fantastic and the people are just phenominal
