Earwax came to Bedford Avenue honestly before everyone else. They've been there for a good while, long enough to see the whole wave of Brooklyn scene descend upon its hood... and long enough to make a reputation for itself. I stop in every time I'm in the area to browse through their concise, tasteful selection of mostly new CD's, plenty of used LP's, and select used CD's. The clerks are professional record store nerds -- old and serious about obscure music. But they're usually really nice anyways, and they're always playing something cooler than what you're about to buy. Earwax also sells tickets to all the must-see local rock shows. And their cheap record crates on the sidewalk are definitely worth a rummage through. Also, if you're in the business of selling used music, they buy the cool stuff for cash or trade.

PROS: great obscure music
CONS: not a huge selection, not cheap

This place has a really strange name, but inside, you'll see that it's pretty big for a local shop. They have all the new albums, plus the older stuff in aisles and even a special sale bin as well. The staff is very helpful and can track down that rare CD that you've been looking for. They also carry some smaller items as well such as posters and cd openers, etc.

I was looking for the new BackStreet Boys album never gone here and I found it. Didn't feel like going to Tower Records or the Virgin Megastore so I stopped in a nieghborhood shop and to my surprise, I found one. This store looks like it was newly renovated. The outside looks appealing and is close to transportation. This store has been in the neighborhood for quite some time now. They have truely all the new releases. If you are looking for LP'
or old music, look somewhere else since they don't even have the Beatles. This is a great store for today's teenagers. Highly recommended.

Ear Wax Records is a fun music shop in Williamsburg. It's not one of the cavernous nidependent music shops that you find in Manhattan nor does it have the merchandise those shops have. That being said they have a pretty nice selection of CD's and the staff is very friendly.

PROS: Nice staff
CONS: Could have larger inventory

This record store has been newly renovated in 2005. It is very stylish and comfortable place to shop. They have a great vinyl selection, all types of music. The location is great, lots of other shopping near by. The staff is knowledgable in all types of music. The hours are funky and the prices are a bit high.
