.

I guess the problems with Bouchon are the same as the problems with French cuisine in general: it's often too esoteric and not filling enough; the portions are too small and more artistic than culinary; and the prices can only seem justified if you really, really love those frog legs.

I guess my mistake was that I was HUNGRY and thought that I could take care of that hunger by going to Bouchon. Of course French bistros are not in the business of taking care of hunger: they're in the business of tickling your fancy, proving that making food can be every bit as artistic as painting the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. I guess if I had eaten some other place and gone in there for a snack and an artistic experience, I would've been fine. But I was hungry, and the place left me totally unsatisfied - but with a much lighter wallet.

PROS: French food is very good; artistically presented
CONS: Food is not very filling; pricey
