I have been in the FCMC for 3 years now and after trying out other local clubs, I've decided that this is the most friendly group in the Peninsula. It is pretty small, which makes it easier to connect, and everyone is really nice and helpful. One other club I joined treated joining a playgroup as a job interview and FCMC is nothing like this. There are no residence requirements so you can join if you don't life in Foster City (although most do live there). The only drawback I've found is that this group in particular is very playgroup-driven. That is, most club-wide information is distributed through the playgroups so if you are not in a playgroup you miss out on a lot.

I have been a member of the FCMC for almost 6 years and have lifelong friends! It can be tough to make the transition from working nonkid person to Stay At Home mom (or working mom). I had no friends with kids before FCMC, now I have friends with kids and my son at the ripe old age of almost 6 has built those friendships that will probably last a lifetime. FCMC offers playgroups, optional monthly meetings with topics/speakers, special interest clubs (fitness group, book club), an annual mom retreat. For just $35/year it's saved my sanity!
