I have been a patient of Dr. Hudson's for over 5 years, but after a recent experience, I will never go back there! Her office mistakenly ordered a mail-order prescription for me that cost almost $200 and then refused to pay for it! I spent 6 months dealing with the company back and forth and her staff's answer was "yea it was our fault but we're not going to give you the money." Her staff is rude and it's a shame because she is a good doctor. In my experience, however, a good professional surrounds themselves with other good people! There are way too many great doctors out there to deal with this type of nonsense!

After reading the reviews on this page I expected the worst, but I have had an extremely positive experience so far. Yes, I did have to wait 3 weeks for an appointment, but as a new patient I didn't have a problem with that. The receptionist scheduled the appt easily and even sent me the paperwork ahead of time. At my appt, the receptionists DID talk to each other, but I did not find them unprofessional in any way. When I arrived for my appt 10 minutes early there were only 2 people ahead so I thought maybe I would get in and get out quickly. It was about half an hour before I made it to an exam room. That is not an unreasonable wait time (I have waited longer for other excellent doctors - I feel waiting is just part of the process). The medical assistant was very nice and I learned she was new at the office (hey, she's checking my weight and prescription history, not my vagina, so I don't care if she's new). The first 10 minutes of my appointment with Dr. Hudson were incredible - she gave me all the information I wanted to hear about the condition I was visiting for and left it open for me to ask questions. Excellent bedside manner and very smart woman. Then I had to switch rooms for a test to be done (this was the new medical assistant's fault...she put me in the wrong room to begin with, but I don't care...after the best 10 minutes I have ever spent with a Gyno I will gladly move rooms). Dr. Hudson explained the test she was performing and talked me through it letting me know exactly what she was doing and how she thought the lab results would pan out. When I asked about follow up she told me that they would call with the results and my next step. Ok...so in total I spent close to 2 hours at the doctor's office, but the care I received was EXCELLENT so I don't care. I will go there again and recommend Dr. Hudson again and again. Just make sure to allot extra time for the appointment.

I will never go back to Dr. Hudson's office which is a shame because I think she is a good doctor. However, seeing Dr. Hudson is not worth dealing with her staff. They are rude, unprofessional, unaccommodating, and bicker with each other constantly, loudly, and in plain view of patients.
I give most doctors' offices the benefit of the doubt because my fianc, mother-in-law, father-in-law, uncle and best friend are physicians. They have lectured me extensively on how difficult healthcare delivery has become in the U.S. While I appreciate the high number of patients doctors are forced to see in a limited amount of time, the point is that Dr. Hudson's staff is just plain BAD. I would wait an hour to see Dr. Hudson if it weren't for her staff.

I've had a very good experience here- especially when I've needed prescriptions called in on an urgent basis- they have been very accommodating with that. Dr. Hudson is very nice and professional.

Haven't had the best time with Dr. Levitan's practice. I did change doctors for the following reasons which compounded on one another:
1. On my 1st visit, i was seen 2.5 hours late and for 45 minutes of that wait, had to stand because of lack of seating. During the last 15 minutes of that long wait, I saw Dr. Hudson for the 1st time when she came out to reprimand reception for keeping the front so crowded and demanded they put people in empty rooms. I then found out that they have a comfy waiting area past reception, where they asked me to move. Later, inexplicably, I was asked to move back to the front waiting area. I was timid (again, 1st visit) and did as told, but it did seem strange and i was lightheaded after standing so long and being there for 3 hours.
2. Dr. Hudson told me I had a miscarriage when she didn't see the baby right away. She was very quick to make this pronouncement, but I chalked it up to a bad day/human error and forgave the mistake.
3. Dr. Hudson reprimanded reception again on a different visit.
4. Despite the "Don't call us for test results, we'll call you" sign, I was not called when they lost my urine sample and had a prolonged bladder infection that we didn't know about as a result.
5. Dr. Worrel, who I would recommend Highly, were she associated with a different practice, informed me that Beth Israel has no bathtubs and limited showers.
6. I visited Beth Israel and was concerned by their high intervention rates, tiny rooms, lack of tubs, limited showers.
7. Decided that combo of issues with the hospital and the office of Levitan, Worrel and Hudson pointed to the fact that i needed to switch doctors. Though it's been two and half months, I am still at the mercy of their shortcomings and have had many hours of work correcting admin mistakes. For instance, I never had a 1st trimester screening because the office canceled my appointment last minute and rescheduled me for a time when the screening could no longer be done because it was too far into my 2nd tri. Also, admin mistakes resulted in my, now, possibly having to pay for a scan which was never performed because of miscommunication from the doctor's office to the insurance company. Beware.

I have been to many gyns over the years and Dr. Hudson is one of the best-- very smart and very professional, and very current on the research, especially for us perimenopausal types. Her office may not be the most gorgeous, but the examination rooms are clean, and she probaly can't afford to redecorate given that she accepts most insurance, which most good ob-gyns do not. I had been paying $290 a visit to my previous gyn and she was no better than Dr. Husdon. As for the staff-- maybe they are trying to improve because they were quite nice. I had no trouble making an appointment and, once there, I waited far less than an hour.

I'd been putting up with the rude staff at Dr. Hudson's office for two annuals now. I finally call for a real emergency and after 7 messages, I get a call back from the Doctor and she tells me, she's booked and I should go to the ER. Never in my life has a doctor been so cold. I will never return to this office and I would tell everyone reading this to find a different doctor!

I was referred by a friend and was expecting the worst when I called to make an appointment based on the other reviews here. I called at noon on a weekday and the receptionist answered immediately, made me a new patient appointment for one month out, and was courteous enough to get all my info over the phone. She explained the paperwork she was mailing and asked what else she could do for me. I am excited and can't wait for my appointment.

Dr. Hudson was referred to me by my fabulous Dr. and yes she was very professional and answered all my questions but the staff was rude, the office dated and the final straw for me was a sign in on of the changing rooms that said, roughly "Don't call us, We'll call you if there are any problems with your test results." Rude...

My girlfriend referred Dr. Shannon Hudson to me, so I gave her office a call. After being put on hold for 20 minutes, I hung up and called back. The staff was rude, she told me "I am the only one in the office, so you have to wait ! "
Completely trust my girlfriend's referral, I called back again in the afternoon. I was being put on hold for over 50 minutes,. ( Com'on, it's Thursday afternoon, 3pm, how busy can it be? ) Finally, the receptionist picked up the phone: " Oh, you are a new patient, alright, appointment only available next year Feb." I am so curious to meet this super popular doctor, " No problem, I want to make the appointment " The receptionist :" You can't right now, call back next Jan and try again"
WTF !
After she knew that I was JUST A NEW PATIENT, She made me wait for an hour for all that B.S.?
Alright, I never met the doctor, she might be the best in NYC. But hiring such a terrible receptionist, how considerate is Dr. Shannon Hudson to her potential patients ? If new patients are not welcome, just tell US STRAIGHT FORWARD IMMEDIATELY. This is not some fancy celebrity doctor after all !!!!

I called approximately 30 minutes prior to my appt and was told that the doctor was running on time. I ended up waiting for over 1 hour. The office staff is incompetent. There were so many patients waiting, there weren't enough seats for everyone. I received information in bits and pieces such as the doctor's cancellation policy, they only accept cash, where is your referral, etc. So I had to leave and incur a $3.50 fee at an ATM, I had to call my insurance company from the waiting room to discover that I didn't need a referral.
A second telephone experience has led me to find a new doctor. I needed an appointment within 48 hours prior to surgery. I called 4 times in 1 hour and spoke with a different person each time, then was able to speak with Dr. Hudson's nurse who was so rude to me I ended up crying b/c of all of the stress. My appointment with Dr. Hudson was the best OBGYN appointment I've ever had. Because of her office staff I will not go back. It's not worth the headache.
PROS: Super great doctor
CONS: Awful office staff

When entering into the office, I wasn't very pleased. I had to wait 45 min. to an hour before my appointment time. On top of that, the office and exam rooms were anything but clean and modern. The small bathroom they have in the exam rooms, were so old and unkept, that I tried not to really touch anything. The doctor on the other hand, was very down to earth and made me feel comfortable. She asked me questions and gave me very knowledgable information. If your looking for a good gynecologist, she is okay. As far as an appealing office, this definitely isn't it.
PROS: Doctor is friendly, comfortable, informative
CONS: Waiting time too long, very non-modern facility
