Emily Dickinson Preschool

Emily Dickinson has a great classroom for preschoolers, which is what we are experienced with. The teachers are well-trained and there is a wide variety of specialists within the school district. It seems like teachers are often clamoring for open positions at this school. Lake Washington School District is one of the best in the state and this school is one of the best within the district.

My autistic son attended the self-contained special-ed preschool class at Emily Dickinson for almost 2 years. The class had a great adult to child ratio, since there were 8 kids and 3-4 adults. The teacher was wonderful, and the class ran really smoothly.

The best part was that my son got to spend part of each day mainstreamed into one of the blended Ready Start classrooms. He got the best of both worlds, since he got to spend time in both rooms. My son is now ready to attend a blended classroom full-time this fall, so he will be attending a school closer to our home. We will miss Emily Dickinson, though.
