Beautiful
The new exhibits are fantastic. The chimpanzee, orangutan, and gorilla exhibits are excellent. We can't wait for the new elephant enclosure and reptile house.

Always Improving
The L.A. Zoo can be a peaceful and relaxing place to stroll and see animals antics when the weather is cool. If they could just control the bees around the trash cans somehow and get the construction finished, we'd be really happy! The new ATM inside the zoo is a big improvement. New baby animals are always the best attractions. I'm not impressed with the new entrance though. Kids' shows are fun for the older kids, and seasonal/holiday attractions are bargain entertainment for members like us.

LA Zoo
Large size zoo with lots to see. A piece of nature in the heart of LA. Lots of exhibits new and old. Great bird show at no extra charge. Some hills so get ready to climb.
PROS: Lots of exhibits, extra shows
CONS: Hills

Greatly improving
The LA zoo has improved greatly in the past few years. They have added new exhibits like the chimanzee habitat and have improved some of their older habitats. The last time I was there they were renovating the Gorilla habitat, so It's definitely clear that they are trying to make the exhibits more livable for the animals.
Overall this zoo is worth seeing. They don't have too many different varieties of the different animals so if your looking to see unusual varieties this may not be the place to go. The San Diego zoo is much better, larger and with more animals to see.

okay zoo
Considering what the LA zoo was fifteen years ago, it's a pretty neat place to visit now. I love visiting zoos, and though it's not even close to the Bronx Zoo, it is worth seeing. I would especially recommend the Sea Lion Cliff and the Repitle exhibits. Both these places are kid's favorites, if they're not afraid of snakes of course. Food, as expected, was really overprice so bring a pack lunch if you can.

It's a Zoo
This is more or less standard fare--lions, tigers, bears, oh my! They do have a pretty impressive reptile exhibit with a creepy 2-headed snake. The animals look fairly well cared for, though many of the cages/living quarters seem too small for the large animals.

LA ZOO!
Wow the LA zoo brings back such good memories. It isn't any different from your typical zoo, although it is a blast for kids when they are younger. I remember my mom lost me at the zoo, but she eventually found me looking at the lions. I also tricked my uncle and aunt into giving me soda when I was really little by telling them I always drank it. So many good memories there and I would definately take my kids there if/when I get any :).

The LA Zoo is better than it used to be, but still has awhile to go
Since it is the only game in town, my family and I are members of the LA Zoo. While the zoo does seem to be in the process of improving itself, it still has a long way to go. Currently, there are many exhibits that look old (and sad for the animals) and some that are even empty. It also seems like the new gorilla exhibit is taking an excessively long time to open. However, despite all this, my 2 year old daughter still has a good time whenever we go.

LA zoo
My daughter loves going to the zoo and I try to take her as often as I possibly can. We had gone there during the summer to see the new baby orangutang which delighted my daughter quite a bit. I would recommend though to bring a stroller because I had forgotten to bring my daughters stroller once and had to pay $7 to rent one which I thought was really expensive.

good Place for kids
I have been to a number of zoos in california, but by far this is the best one. They have a wide selection of animals as well as good shows of animal feeding. My kids love to go there

AWESOME SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA ZOO
The LA Zoo is just as nice as San Diego, if not, perhaps a bit better. Very level zoo (San Diego is very hilly). Lots of natural habitat areas for the animals. Some of the animals are hard to see because their "cages" are similar to their wild living environments. All the animals seem to be in great health and happy. Great expo shows and interactions with the animals. Staff are very informative and truly enjoy their work. Tram service available. Easy to get to.

Good Times
I went to the LA Zoo for a school assignment and didn't get to look around at the different animal exhibits. I chose to study a gorilla for a few hours, but eventually found time to look at some of the other primates exhibit. I thought it was a great learning experience to observe the primates. The keepers brought some toys out for them to play and it brought them out into view and was quite entertaining as well.

LA Zoo
My family and I probably go to this zoo like once a month or every other month except during the summers. The summers get really busy there with too many people, we just don't like all the crowds and we have to carry the kids up so they can see the animals past other people's shoulders.

Los Angeles Zoo
The Los Angeles Zoo is certainly a fun place to visit with the whole family. I have taken my kids here several times and they really have always enjoyed looking at all the many animals they have on exhibit. We normally go early in the mornings during the summer because it can get too unbearably hot otherwise.

Newly remodeled with California appeal
Newly remodeled areas, including Sea Lion Cliffs at its new 60-foot entrance, Childrens Discovery Center, and a coming-soon Gorilla Refuge and Elephant Haven. At the Sea Lion Cliffs, visitors can watch the sea lions either through the glass underwater viewing area, at water-level view, or at the above-water seating area. If you go to the zoo often, get the membership package (very affordable).
PROS: Newly remodeled areas for great viewing, accessibility
CONS: Still construction going on, but be patient
