The Scene
An industrial gray door that once led into the old Biltmore Hotel's basement now opens to an astutely designed club with chic cocktails and see-and-be-seen opportunities. Several blocks from overblown Crescent Avenue, this demure lounge places modern furniture against a concrete backdrop. The mood is set with oversized blown-glass light fixtures that bathe the crowd in a flattering glow. The bar is long, white and glows various shades of red, blue and yellow throughout the evening. A glass wall behind the bar reveals a two-level lounge where DJs play down-tempo tunes on weekend nights.

The Draw
A diverse, ever-changing crowd keeps this club interesting. Nightlife pros are attracted to Halo's laid-back midweek scene. It's a nice setting for sipping cocktails and listening to music; there's even free wi-fi. Weekends, however, attract a coiffed and accessorized clientele on parade.

Place to be...for now!

by Sandy M. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 6,209

Halo is one of the "it" clubs in Atlanta at the moment. Drinks are overpriced and the lines at the door are long, but that's true of any worthwhile spot. The patrons are good looking and the music is hot, so it equals a good time.

Hip bar

by Perry S. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 5,883

One of the hippest bars in Atlanta. Halo is in a class all its own with fantastic lighting and architectural layout. The crowd is a
mix of every race and sexual orientation. The bartenders are
fantastic and attentive, serving top notch drinks and the prices
are reasonable. I would recommend this place for younger people - it's definitely not buckhead material which is always a plus in my book.

In One Word.....BORING

by NjMs

came here for a ladies nite on 10/25. Music was ok for the first 15-20 mins, then took a turn downhill. We got there at 12 stayed till 1:30. Place was empty. Only your random drunk chick was dancing on the empty floor. (Served for good entertainment) Guys? none, drinks where the only highlight of the evening. The multi-color lights they mention where no where to be seen. Parking was really close and secure for only $5, cover was only $5. But i guess it should be since the place is empty! Very disappointing a waste of gas. would not recommend.

Pros: parking, drinks

Cons: music, atmosphere, eyecandy

Trendy, Spacious

by ATLTonight

This ultra slick and contemporary bar/lounge is located in Midtown next to the Biltmore Hotel and each room glows with its own mood. The vibrant and colorful atmosphere attracts young professionals. Sometimes expensive in nature because of only top notch drinks, dont expect to come here and drink for cheap. With many rooms and luscious couches, one would never get tired here. A great happy hour and crowd, there?s not euch else to say about this club. One of the best Atlanta has to offer.

Rude DJ

by london57

I have been to Halo several times and love the scene but have never loved the music. I went last night with a group of girls and it was pretty dead. They were playing a lot of techno which no one was feeling. We decided to place a request so we could dance. The informed me that they do no except requests (eventhough no one was dancing, so they were clearly not doing their job) and was really rude. We left right after and went to Twisted Taco so we could dance and make requests.

Pros: Good Atmosphere

Cons: Weird Indie Music that you cant dance to

The music kept at an up beat tempo. Great atmosphere, and people were very social. Drinks weren't to expensive, and the Hooka was an original feature. The area was kept clean and the servers kept my cup full, I recommend this place to the single crowd.

I have only been here twice, both on weekdays, so I have yet to experience the weekend night scene. But what I have seen of Halo I would recommend. It is very trendy and modern. It had a lounge feel and a dark lighting effect. Very nice. I am looking foward to going on a weekend and experiencing what the place is really all about!

Pros: Trendy

Cons: Not busy on weekdays

Worth the trip

by enggal81

I had heard of Halo and decided to stop in last time I was in town for work. Finding the place was a tad difficult: we didn't really see any significant signage. Luckily there were some helpful people in the neighborhood who were happy to point us in the right direction. Overall, I was impressed with the drinks and the atmosphere: the drinks were good quality (not bottom shelf plastic bottle liquor), the bartenders were nice and really helpful, and the decor is just really really cool! I'll definitely stop in again next time I'm in Atlanta!

Pros: Drinks, Staff, Decor

Cons: Difficult to find

Great spot (but not for singles)

by surlyone

This is probably my favorite bar/club in all of Atlanta. It's a classy place, well-designed, with a very good staff, decent food and great drinks. Many of the female bartenders are quite gorgeous - it's always nice to have eye candy when sipping drinks at the bar, right? My one beef, and it's not Halo's fault, is that it is often top-rated as a singles scene. This couldn't be farther from the truth, at least for a single guy looking to meet women. Most of the time it is just couples and lots of single guys in groups. I've never, ever met a single girl here - if there are any in the club, they tend to be, well, not "a-list" girls. But, if you're looking for a great place to hang out, Halo is it.

Pros: Great atmosphere, gorgeous bar staff, smores

Cons: not a singles scene, packed on weekends, no hot single girls

What more could you want?

by sapphirewaves

Can't believe I just discovered Halo and live less than four blocks away... Halo is amazing! As far as the drink prices - they were not outrageous and actually quite reasonable considering everything is basically top shelf! Anyone that complains about the prices there doesn't know good liquor or a good drink and doesn't deserve to be there. The staff was amazing and friendly, as was the company. This place blew me away, so much to take in architecturally and design-wise... I finally found my favorite midtown bar

Pros: amazing drinks, friendly crowd, awesome atmosphere

Wonderful Weekday Bar

by adar2630308

My favorite weekday bar in Atlanta beyond all doubts. Wonderful architecture, great staff, fantastic DJs and a wonderfully diverse crowd create a bar that emanates style and can still be a place for Midtown's locals to wind down/up an weekday evening. Contrary to otternam14's complaint about no dress code, I love the freedom to go at anytime to the bar, straight from work or a friend's place without worrying about maintaining an artificial image.

Pros: Staff, No Dance Floor, DJs

Cons: No Dance Floor, Weekend Crowds

great mix of cultures at this hip, urban, upscale bar. people of all colors, creeds, and sexual preferences (no animal lovers, plz) made up the crowd on the saturday night i went. this is not a pick up joint, it's a place to hang out (not to say there aren't plenty of the opposite sex). somewhat clickish due to the bars layout, and it's not very big, but service is good (as was the music), and if you aren't a cacky pants-button down shirt type, definitely worth checking out.

Pros: no cover, good music

Cons: narrow bar area

Glowing Alabaster and Beautiful People

by peter_phillips

The night before Thanksgiving with Atlanta being fairly dead HALO was vividly alive, sophisticated and sexy without an attitude. A very discreet entrance reminiscent of chic Manhattan establishments from clubbier days opens into a cavern of beautifully lit space. Raw concrete posts contrast with a polished alabaster bar that glows from within with a very flattering warm light. The staff offers excellent service, is there when desired and otherwise stays out of the way. The crowd is largely made up of attractive, affable young people a not ashamed of being friendly and visibly enjoining themselves. Drinks were drinks and nothing was overpriced or silly. HALO is a definitely the current highpoint on the Atlanta bar scene. Go for the atmosphere and mix with the crowd.

Pros: Atmosphere, Friendly, Attractive crowd

Cons: DJ but no dance floor

Best Lounge in Atlanta

by telecomint

Best overall lounge in Atlanta. Friendliest staff of any "hip" establishment...bartender apologized for making me wait while he was taking care of the customers who were there before me (this happened on more than one occasion). They spent some money decorating this place; for all those who think this place looks cheap because it is spartan, you do not need to be intown. Also, does anyone know what the deal is with the cover charge? I keep hearing they sometimes charge although I've never been charged before.

Pros: hip atmosphere, friendly service, no cover...so far

Cons: no dance floor, hard to find seats

no sign= mystique?

by acsolomon

its not that hard to find.
If you can follow directions, its on the corner of W P'tree & 6th.
when you get inside, the decor is fabulous.
The crowd mixes & mingles somewhat, usually because you're forced to by the tiny space between the bar & wall.
Service can be slow, its better on weeknights when its not as crowded.
There is plenty to look at whether it be people watching or the excellent bar that changes hues
throughout the night.
For all the hype, I find its relatively unpretentious.
If you only have a weekend to spend in ATL and you're fired up to go out, make this a stop.

futuristic & trendy, but a tad ghetto

by rexlogan

I, for one, am glad there is no sign outside . . if you can't figure out where it is, you don't deserve to get in.
As of late, it's become a tad too ghetto compared to the forerunning clientele but I guess Atlanta's not metropolis enough to be discerning like NYC.
The decor is flawless: from the light-infused bar to the stairway leading into the roof, this places looks great.
The service is great; except when it's packed and it's hard past the gaukers to the bar.
The food is of excellent quality, although they lack a requisite dessert offering. The french toast is well worth fighting to find parking for.

Pros: funky, cool bathrooms, decor, service

Cons: no dancefloor, OTP crowd, sporadic covercharge

Hidden But Worth It

by larrykroger

Despite not having a sign out front to let you know how to find it and a surly manager when we were making fun of that fact, this bar is a welcome refreshment to Midtown. We went on a weeknight so the crowd was smaller but very cool interior in a laidback NY wannabe kind of way - no cover charge and a lack of cheese which is tough to find in Midtown these days. The chairs weren't the most comfortable in the world but good service by the waitstaff and reasonable drink prices made up for it. Definitely worth a stop before you hit the clubs.

Too cool for school...

by lililadaga_citysearch

...in a good way. The space and design is sleek and hip, as is the crowd. As the night wears on, the crowd does get more diverse as people filter in from other nearby bars. The narrow alleyway in front of the bar is a bit uncomfortable, but you can get to the other side by taking a trip upstairs and around behind the bar, which allows you to take in the DJ and a little crowd watching. Downside: The music is LOUD, so don't expect to get into any deep conversations.

Pros: Great service, Good music, if loud

Cons: Loud, Hard to find entrance

Midtown curse: chic club, lame crowd

by FlorrieBurch_Citysearch

This club is definitely a step in the right direction for the Midtown scene. Finally a place that doesn't strive to be exactly like every other club in the neighborhood (Cosmo, Lava, Tangier, etc.) Love the mod decor. I found the crowd a little obnoxious, though--dorky buttoned-down guys with their lame pickup lines. It is Midtown, after all, so what can you expect? At least they don't charge a cover.

Pros: Cool decor, No cover charge

Cons: Lame crowd
