Highly over priced

My wife and I attended meal on memorial day 2010 about 6.30pm...

Pros: NONE

Cons:
1. BUGS on dining table!!!
2. Salad bar was weak. It had definatly been sitting there a long time..and it was only 6:30.
3. WAY OVERPRICED...we were charged $59 just for the salad bar.
4. Rare meat very mediocre, all other meats over cooked, highly fatty, and DRY (Chicken, sausage, lamb chops, leg of lamb, sirloin).
5. Cheep meat. Strong and gamey. We are big meat eaters, and we know quality. Lamb defiantly not American lamb...and the beef tastes like it came out of a swamp.
6. The wine: We are wine drinkers.I expected the wine to be decanted...but the stuff we bought seemed like it had been opened and sitting open for a couple of days. And when I said it wasn't good, they came back with more. It was obviously out of the same bottle.
7. Management is horrible.

Moreover, after we found the bugs on the table they refused to refund our bill. My wife and I were ready to puke after we found this. We were told we could talk to the manager, and he refused to talk to us. I can just imagine what Bugs (ie roaches) are crawling around the kitchen.

This place is the worst of the worst...

Just came back from Saturday night dining at Brazilian Bull and all I can say is it was fabulous. Our server, Wes, was courteous and timely -- as were all the servers we had contact with. It's almost like the other reviews for this place were entered by people who have not been there! This restaurant is in a strip mall, but in a large roomy space. Beautiful mosaics cover the walls and the room is pretty and spacious. The salad bar selections were fresh and delicious with a lot to like if you're into seafood. I'm not, but I still enjoyed the fresh salads and pasta (although I must say the shrimp ceviche was great!). They also have a hot appetizer bar and be sure not to miss the potato lasagne. Sounds strange - tastes delicious! All the meats were hot and tasty with endless variety. I've been to the Brazilian steakhouse in Scottsdale and this one is every bit as good, with the salad bar much, much better than in Scottsdale. Be sure you don't miss the grilled pineapple -- absolutely fabulous! Our only complaint was the completely non-descript side dishes (beans and rice). Very bland and could have been skipped altogether. I can't imagine why so many other posters to this site complained about the service because ALL the servers we had contact with were courteous and catered to our every request. We LOVED the Brazilian Bull and will DEFINITELY be back for more!

Oh, and by the way, we do NOT work for the Brazilian Bull and have dined in many, many restaurants both here in Arizona and around the world - and we STILL very much enjoyed our dining experience at Brazilian Bull.

Reviewers who gave this place a negative review are completely mistaken. I have been to Brazil several times, and know exactly what to expect when it comes to authentic churrasco. First off, the price is extremely reasonable. I have been to several other churrascarias in the US and almost always cost an arm and a leg. Next, the service was top notch. My water glass was never empty, and everyone was extremely courteous, tending to my every need. I have also never been to a restaurant where the service was so timely and professional. For those of you who have never been to a churrascaria, the system is fairly simple: You receive a marker where one side is red and the other is green. Red side up first, and you go to the their plentiful salad bar... Get some fresh seafood, gourmet salads...and by the way, all you can eat. When your done with that, flip the marker over to green, and prepare your stomach for whats to come. 16 different succulent, perfectly cooked meats come one at a time and served tableside. By far, the meats here were some of the best i have ever tasted. What was more surprising, was that the restaurant was jam packed and everything was spot on. If you want top notch Brazilian cuisine, excellent service, and all at a reasonable price, visit them in Chandler.

Cons: Must come with an empty stomach

Expensive...a nice change of pace for a special evening out...I definitely recommend going very light on the buffet and saving your stomach for the meat rounds!!

It was the most horrific, sickening experience of my life. Run, don't walk away from there. Bad food, bad karma, bad everything. Moreover, they'll take your money, no matter what. AVOID this place like the plague! Join me in writing letters to the the appropriate authorities to shut the place down. I don't know what kind of meat they serve, but it's not the kind people normally eat. They need to get out of Ahwatukee, they are giving our neighborhood a bad name.

Cons: Horrible food, awful service and the rudest manager

My husband and I drove over an hour to eat here, and this was the only place in town that serves "Brazilian" food. The waiter greeted us with an "Oi tudo bem" and then when we replied in Portuguese, he said, I'm sorry, I dont know Portuguese, I'm Mexican. No one in the whole place spoke Portuguese, which was a huge dissapointment. since they represented themselves as Brazilian. I could eat Mexican food anywhere in Phoenix. The staff were also very very rude, some of the rudest wait staff I have ever seen. I think they were embarrassed when they got exposed by true Brazilians in their restaurant, they didn't know how to act.

Cons: There is a 7/11 in the parking lot. You can stop for a hot dog instead.

This is a Horrible restaurant! Too expensive for what they serve... which is not good quality meats or salad bar. We've been to many different Brazillian steakhouses in the U.S. and this is NOT brazillian food. The meats were too dry, they were cooked in a HUGE oven instead over a fire like it should have been, and the staff was not friendly. We went for a birthday party and there was no one in the restaurant except us. Will never go back there again~

What a great time! Have heard so much about this place for so long, I'm glad I finally tried it despite the bad reviews on this site. Service was outstanding, we never had empty plates or drinks and the place was packed. The salad bar was a little bland, but the meats were fantastic. Definately recommend to anyone that wants to try something different and is sick of the boring chain dining spots here in Phoenix. Make sure you fast before going, its a ton of food!

First and foremost, do not believe any of the five-star ratings on this web-page. They were either written by the owners themselves or people who have no class & no idea what good food is. Typical for people who have never left the state of Arizona. We came to this restaurant for my brother's birthday expecting a good meal. When we walked in, the place was cold and empty. The food was God-awful. The food at the buffet bar was nothing special, and the meat was not tasty at all- overcooked, salty, dry, etc. We complained to the owners who are NOT BRAZILIAN. They were shady, couldn't speak English very well, probably from some small country in East Europe, and told us that we wouldn't know good food if it struck us in the face. They refused to provide a discount for our awful experience. I am so enraged that we were treated this way. These people deserve to go out of business for their disgusting food and poor business practices! PLEASE don't believe the good reviews, and please don't go here!

Pros: Nothing at all

Cons: Everything imaginable

.

The concept definitely plays to your ears but it was way over priced. I felt as if I could have gone through a drive-thru or just a small restaurant and gotten the same food for much cheaper. The choice of meats and the way they bring it out are cool but campared to other restaurants with similar concepts I'd have to ask for my money back on this one. It's just not worth it. The Salad bar was AWFUL! The best part was the shrimp cocktail, which I could have done at home. i hope this is useful to others. I do not recommend this restaurant.

Very weak compared to those Churrascarias in other major US cities. This was disappointing and not cheap.

do not eat at this poor over priced vesion of a brazilian steak house. the meat is very salty and is eather of the lowest of quality or just prepaired with such incompatance that it could be served at a waffel house. I never thought you could describe fillet mignon could be described acuratly as dry and gamey but at fogo brasa you can. I didnt even try the salad/sea food bar but my wife did and it was equally bad. kae moss like crab legs and lots of mayo. I have eaten at many of this style resturantes and this was by far the worst. trust me dont try it. the 5 star reviews on this page must have been written by fogo brasa owners or workers who are members.

My boss decided to take us there for a holiday party. I heard alot of good things but really didnt know what to expect. If you would have told me, I would have never been able to figure it out. In one word.. "Memorable". My colleagues and I venture out frequently for lunch but never dinner, this was a treat. First they explained the system. "Go to the salad bar as much as you want", (when we got there, he failed to say that there was 40 dishes in all to choose from, Crab legs, shrimp, mussels, cheeses, international dishes.. but we were told to keep room for the main attraction, BEEF!!. Now we knew why. Each of us took a little everything and it seemed that everyone enjoyed what they had taken. The table was filled with a bunch of overweight men talking in excitement of all the different things they have tried. Meanwhile, we see "Meat runners" running by with skewers of meat in hand from one table to the next shaving off one piece at a time...Joey, we call him the "Big Guy"; kept yelling "I want some of that"...Eventually we were done done gorging on the salad and we were ready for meat. A dowel was given to us painted in red, yellow and green. Red.. "Leave me alone", Green, "I want Meat, feed me, feed me" and Yellow,"I'm about to bust, please give me the dessert". On your mark, get ready, flipped to green..Goooo!! Boy, did we have alot to talk about. Chicken, Sausage, Pork Loin, Filet, Sirloin, top sirloin, ham, LAMB!!, kebobs, tri tip and I'm missing a few .. I was stuffed...Joey...that man is impressive...Everything had flavor, some had been marinated.. What I liked is that the waiters had asked us how we like our meat. You can get it rare, medium or well. Just ask!!! Staff is very attentive and funny. Going "Yellow"..I was done, the waiter warned me, but "NO more for me!"...Wait...he rolled over a 5 foot dessert cart... Are you kidding me...Let's just say.. theres always room for dessert. I should have been wheeled out that night. You have to go, but go hungry!

Cons: I have to go on a diet! Atkins anyone???

For those who gave this place a high rating, I don't think they have ever been to a really nice salad bar or steak house aside from their local Denny's or their cooking is worse than Fogo. The salad bar was horrible. Nothing tasted fresh. I'ts a good thing that the salad bar was disgusting because I was going to eat some meat instead!!!! But little did I know, the meats were just as bad. Very salty, red meats were fatty and white meats were very very dry the chicken legs was gross!!! The sausage tasted like it was made from beef, chicken and pork by products instead of 100% meat, you know lips and a$$ cheeks. The service was okay since ther was only 4 tables occupied. This was on a Friday night. This did kind of look suspicious. Now I know. Take it from a true meat enthusiast, this place is not fit for human consumption or dogs as a matter of fact. Save your money

I have been to other rodizios in the past and I'm sorry but Fogo e Brasa can't compare. They are HORRIBLE. The food is disgusting! The price's would make sense if the food was actually edible. Also, the staff couldn't speak english and it's not because they were Brazilian, but spanish. I mean I was kind of expecting authentic. I've lived in Brazil and they didn't even have authentic food that other Brasa's have. Personally, it was the worst dining experience I've ever had and $30 down the drain after tasting that nasty salad bar. If you have class you won't be stopping at Fogo e Brasa anytime soon.

What a fun idea for sure. Very interactive and fun, BUT, BUT, BUT....as other reviews have stated, the meat is VERY dry. Fill up at the excellent salad bar because the meat will disappoint. In fact, there is almost no difference in taste from pork to beef. Very sad. Also, the shrimp on the salad bar was old (you could tell by the smell).

Also, be prepared to spend. For two people, it was $96 and we didn't have a drop of alcohol. It adds up quick. $30/person per plate (not bad includes salad bar) but $3 for anything liquid (you need because the only seasoning is SALT) and desserts are now $6 each (very good, though).

I say definately try it, but be aware you are going for experience, not the flavor.

I had guests in from out of town. I thought going here would be a very special dinner with my guests. I was wrong.
The tables were way too close and the place was so overcrowded you couldn't get from A to B without bumping into someone.
We got very few meats brought out and had even asked if we could have more of one thing. It never came. Altogether I think we had 4 meats. Nothing else ever came out and the ones we got were not very good.
We also completely ran out of water. I had to ask someone other than our waiter because he never came back and we had been waiting quite some time for service.
For 5 people it was $350 without tip.
Not even worth it!
If you want real Brazilian, try Rum Jungle in Las Vegas. It is far and above better than this place! FAR AND ABOVE!

If you want real Brazilian, try Rum Jungle in Las Vegas. It is far and above better than this place! FAR AND ABOVE!

Having been to Brazilian churrascarias in Orlando, Dallas, and Atlanta, I bragged to my brother about what a great experience they are. I convinced him and his wife to join us and try Fogo e Brasa. What a mistake. The meat was tough and dry. We had to ask many times just to get minimal service. We got to the point of waving our arms wildly and almost yelling "Excuse me Sir?" to try to get the servers' attention only to be ignored. After an hour of this, I finally asked to speak to a manager. The person who came over refused to do anything to adjust our check so we could just leave since we weren't going to get fed. Then he called another person over (again, claiming to be the manager). He too refused to discount our check for the lack of food. Finally, I said I would not pay full price if I couldn't get fed and they called the police. Unfortunately, the police said the law here states if they serve you anything at all, they are allowed to charge you full price and don't have to serve you any more. Finally, the real manager came out and spoke to the police officer. He admitted his help was unresponsive because they did not understand English and nobody had understood our complaints. He also said the owner doesn't give discounts no matter how bad the food or service. We should have known, going into a restaurant like this that was almost empty on a Friday night, there must have been a reason there were so few customers. This was $178.00 disaster that left a very bad taste in my mouth for both the restaurant and the town that makes such laws to protect them from having to serve what you pay for. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND YOUR DIGNITY. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE.

Cons: Food, Service, Value, Ethics

I have been to other Brazillian resaturants throughout the country(loved them) and decided to take my wife to Fogo for her Birhtday based on the positive reviews. BIG MISTAKE !!!!

The entire experience was a total disappointment. Our waiter was ok, the servers were slow, the atmosphere was dead and the food was HORRIBLE. The salad bar selection was limited and mediocre in taste. The meats were dry and of poor quality. Some were wrapped with bacon to cover up their taste. I could've prepared the meats better on my own barbecue. As for the desserts, it was highly likely that they were thawed out or had sat in a refrigerator for a long time.

The management should really be ashamed for representing Brazil and its food in this way. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. I will never go back there again.

This place is awesome. I have heard of this place for a long time and always wanted to go but never had a chance until we went there for a company holiday party. What have I been waiting for. The salad bar (and I hate to call it that with all the items on it) was awesome. They had crab legs, shrimp, calamari, cheeses, cold dishes, hot dishes and I can go on and on. Then came the meats which are served tableside. We had meat coming to us from all directions. Each tastier than the next. What's nice is that they will cater the cut to your liking, rare, med rare or well. My one problem is that I stuffed myself at the salad bar and didn't get to try all the meats. But of course there was always room for dessert. I had the strawberry cheesecake which was the last thing I needed as they rolled me out. I will be back!!!!!

We go to Frogo e Brasa at least monthly, and we've never had a bad experience. The food is always superb, and the service is wonderful. You have to have a big appetite to enjoy all the goodies in store for you. I'm not a salad person, but I could do a swan dive into their salad bar. Lots of seafood and cold dishes, and even a few hot dishes. But, it's really all about the meat. The meat is always beautifully cooked, flavorful, and plentiful. We often have to turn the dowel over to red, just so we can catch up with the servers! They will continue to bring you meat until you explode! In all the times we've been there, we've never been disappointed with the quality of the food or the service. If there's a particular meat you like, you can ask and they will bring it to you more often. Wonderful!

Cons: Expensive, but worth it. The atmosphere could be better.

I'm sorry, how in the world is this restaurant getting such a high score? I'm speechless. Really. People who work there, EXTREMELY rude, the value for very mediocre food is not good at all.

This place is great. We had a party of 45 people whicha s you know is impossible to make everyone's palate happy, was ideal. Excellent choices, fabulous service and great atmosphere. I like places where you can enjoy having great conversations and being scene. Not for those who are looking for that super quiet evening. Definetly worth the price where do you get all those choices of steak and seafood for one price and its unlimited. Overall, absolutely worth the visit!!

We've eaten in many Brazilian steakhouses from Orlando to Chicago. This was the ultimate disappointment. The meat was inedible the least to say. After the raw pork wrapped in rather cooked than roasted bacon, the greasy sausage and the tasteless chicken leg, we decided to share the experience with the owner who clearly saw the untouched food on our plates and leave. Based on her gracious offer to "compensate" the experience we paid ninety eight dollars for four plates of salads (this was the appetizer) and a bottle of cheap wine. We got the desserts for free, and an experience which has left a very long lasting bitter taste in our mouth.

Atkins lovers, this is the place!

The rules. "First start at the appetizer bar,35cold dishes, shrimp, crab legs, portobelo mushrooms etc&4hot dishes. There's a; I'll call it a remote; colored red, green, yellow. "After the appetizer bar, Flip the remote to green. They bring5side dishes; rice, fried bananas, beans, farofa, vinagrette. Meat runners (circuling w/swords of meat, SIrloin, top sirloin, beef ribs, pork ribs, turkey wrapped in bacon, sausage, chicken legs, garlic steak, ham, pork loin, lamb) carve the meat tableside. Then get ready4a 6foot dessert cart (choc. truffles, cocunut cake, choc. cake, passion fruit mousse, choc. mousse, tiramasu, creme brulee)."

Everyone had a blast!!! The appetizer bar... Good enough for a full meal. As the remote turned green we were bombarded with meats, coming from all sides. They'll cook it to your liking, rare, medium or well..just ask. Tiramasu which was good!

Good food, lots of food, and great time.

The ambience was great, the food was wonderful! The meats were full of flavor and the Brazilian style of a buffet had a good variety of veggies and different salads.

We will defiantly visit this establishment again and again!

I went to this restaurant based on the high ratings from citysearch...sorely, sorely disappointed. I can't go on and on, but in short, the food was mediocre..paired with one of the worst waitstaff I've ever seen. Example...we were still trying to get people to come over with meat, and three different waiters kept trying to rush us out, asking if we wanted dessert. Another example...we had to ask multiple times for many things after just sitting there forever (restaurant was not crowded yet at this point)...and they were so snooty. Their "creme brulee" was refrigerated rice pudding for sure. DO NOT GO THERE.

This restaurant provides for a unique dining experience. It is a classy version of buffet style food. The waitstaff comes around to your table with different meats and pineapple on skewers and cut off as much as you would like. There are several different meats to choose from. When you do not want them to bring anything else to your table, you simply turn the wood peg over. The buffet has many food items, especially seafood, that you would not find elsewhere. The desserts are the best I think I have ever had. I even will drive all the way there just to pick up desserts to go. There is a set price to eat here, and there is no menu. It was approximately $30 dollars flat + desserts/drinks.

PROS: excellent desserts-unique style/foods
CONS: pricey

I took my boyfriend for his birthday to try something new. We were very disappointed to say the least. The service was good but that was to be expected as there were only 3 or 4 other tables and a ton of employees. The ambiance for such an expensive restaurant was below average. Everyone in the other reviews talk about the great salad bar. It was ok, it had a lot of unidentifiable items. We we're mostly dispointed with the meats and sides (boring). Most of the cuts were fatty and salty and we ended up skipping dessert. The entire meal took less than an hour and ended up costing $90.00. I would not go there again.

Anyone who enjoys good meat would be insane to skip this place. The restaurant has a great atmosphere, friendly staff, and wide selection of dishes that you don't normally find at mainstream restaurants. The salad bar was great and could have been the meal itself. Once we flipped the dowel to green, we were overwhelmed with choices of meat that we couldn't turn down. Every meat was extremely delicious and I was lucky to be able to walk out on my own two feet. My kids, who tend to be picky eaters, also ate their weight in meat and left the restaurant saying that it was the best meal they ever had. Bottom line; there are not many places you can go to sample that many main dishes in one sitting for one price. You better get to this restaurant before the rest of Phoenix figures it out!

Never wanted to write review until now. After eating at Brazilian restaurants around the world, I wanted to introduce my father to this unique dining.
Dining room was not crowded we thought we would have lots of attention. Wrong. Service was slow, uneven. The salty meat came at snail pace. Diners surrounding us were complaining that they saw the sirloin only once that night but the inexpensive chicken and sausages came more often. Others joked about the fact that the "all out" dinner costs $30 but there was no "all out" experience. If it wasn't Father's Day, I think more than one table would have walked out.
I'm willing to give Brazilian cuisine another try but not at Fogo e Brasa. Stick to traditional steak houses.
I saw the owners around the bar, I hope you take my opinion as constructive and fix what's really broken.

Pros: ample salads, but who goes to a BZ, steakhouse for salad?

Cons: salty meat, waiting for meat, slow uneven service

Just ate dinner there with 6 friends, and all I can say is, WOW... Dont expect dinner to be over with in an hour, more like 3. Service is not slow at all, but there is so much food. The "Salad Bar" alone is a meal, then you get to add 3 different types of steaks, lamb, pork, chicken and pineapple, yes, pineapple they roast and slice at your table. All the meats are brought to your table and sliced for you, the meats were all awsome, the steaks were a little too raw for me, other then that the flavor was first rate. Would I go back, HELL YEA, just make sure you are not in a rush and that you are hungry.

Went on a Saturday night -- it wasn't completely full, but I am sure word-of-mouth will fill this place soon. I went to a Brazilian Steakhouse in New York City and loved it. I was thrilled to see one open in the Phoenix area. Unique, comfortable dining experience. Go hungry!

"All you can eat Steak&Salad Bar" but far more than that. The salad bar has 20cold dishes(Shrimp cocktail,Crab legs,Calamari,Octopus, mussels, etc.)& 3hot dishes (scallops, grouper etc.) which vary everyday. Now the best part! They keep wooden dowels on the table where one side is green(means GO!), the other red (STOP!).After you feast on the salad bar, flip the dowel to green&meatrunners come to your table w/meat on long swords&begin slicing it right on your plate(not the typical buffet). They offer 15 types(chicken,sausage,pork-loin,lamb,ribeye,flank,beef ribs, short ribs etc.)&keep coming until you flip the dowel over to red or lay it on it's side(surrender!).If you have any room left(can't see how, but try), they'll wheel over a 7foot dessert cart($5/dessert).I ate 'Brigadeiro", Brazilian chocholate truffle, that was amazing. My wife had "Flan", then she had two! Food&service are 1st class.Fogo's a unique place that we've never experienced before. Can't wait to go with family & friends for their first taste of Brazil!
