I love bollywood movies and I watch probably one or two a week. I live in SD and I loved when the Mira Mesa "Edwards Theatres" showed the most recent bollywood movies. Unfortunately, they are not showing them anymore.

The only theatre (as far as I know) in southern california dedicated to Indian movies is NAZ. This theatre looks like it was purchased or built around 1903 and has not been updated since. When I watch movies at NAZ, I come out with a splitting headache due to the screeching, high pitched, low quality speakers they use. Additionally, the cinema screen is so small that you feel you are at a theatre in the projects watching a b movie. Lastly, the seats in the theatre obviously have not been updated since 1903, when people were probably much skinnier. Makes it quite uncomfortable for some of us who have a little extra weight.

My main point is this, I believe the Indian community really deserves a top notch theatre. I wish I had the money to design and finance a theatre with THX sound quality, Edwards style theater screen, with air conditioning that keeps it comfortable for every one and seats that were roomy and comfortable. The indian community with its many savvy businessmen should think of bringing or supporting a premier movie theatre in the southern california region. Hey, if MJ can do it, why can't we?

Regards,
JT

It's the worst place to see any Indian movie there. The management has no respect for customers and they treat customers very rude. It's good to avoid as much as you can to watch movies there

My advice: don't go there.

Disrespectful and cheap people.

Dirty place.

You won't feel the AC.

Too expensive for such a theater (should have been $3 a movie).

Worst seating arrangement for a theater (if you are lucky no one will sit in front of you!).

Never eat there (worst popcorn in the world).

Thank god...I can go to AMC Mercado for Jodha Akbar !!!! I wish AMC/Century theaters get their senses back soon and start showing more hindi movies.

Naz Cinema opened about 14-15 years ago in a run down part of Fremont. It was a low quality place with smelly everything. The toilets were as if we were in some very run down 3rd rate cinema in India in 1950. The owner opened a Pakistani restaurant next door, open 7 days a week from 11 am. We drove 45 miles one weekend to try some food and found a hand written sign on the door informing that they will open at 4 pm that day. I sent a letter to the owner asking him that if there was a change he could have put that in his ad in papers where his ad runs every week. Till today I have not heard from him. Reply to a customer ? Why ??

Naz moved to the second location as Naz 8. The place was a bit better but still low quality. We went to see a Bengali film with English sub-titles. There were no sub-titles at all. When we complained to the staff, they refused the refund. Being non-Bengalis, we had no idea as to what was going on. Once we went to see a Hindi picture. On the window was a person selling some South Indian film tickets. I asked him a question about the tickets, looking at my face his blood pressure went up. He yelled at me so bad that "this window is for South Indians only". There was no sign outside telling that "non-South Indians do not go to this window". Must be my mistake. When we enter than all our bags are searched, if we are smuggling any food.

Naz 8 is at its third location in Fremont now. This used to be a $2.00 cinema showing old English pictures. The place is still the same, dirty, smelly and stinking toilets with no paper towels , misbehaved employees, stale and overpriced food and drinks. I have seen ads in paper telling that it running house full - but inside I found only about 20 people.

We have stopped going there. This is enough. When we go to see an English picture, we get well mannered employees, clean toilets & paper napkins, hygenic snacks and no stinking cinema halls. If there is anything wrong, they fix it.

We either rent Hindi pictures or go and see English ones in a descent theatre.

I like the idea - charge in Dollars ($), provide service in Rupees (Rs).

This theatre sucks big time for a multitude of reasons

1. The management is rude and doesn't care about the
patrons. They have forgotten that they are in the US,
and have been ruling the place like some third-world
country! The guy who owns the place acts like a
bouncer, and has no respect for ppl! He definitely
deserves to be taught a lesson

2. They charge 2$ extra for online tickets..Come on!
you are in the silicon valley..This is illegal as per
some US law, and can be sued by seriously pissed
movie goers!

3. The theatre is stinking, the restrooms are badly
maintained.

4. They don't allow food inside..and what they sell is
ridiculously expensive and bad!

I would recommend renting a DVD or downloading the bollywood movie online.

This place sucks. I just went once and decided not to come again. It is correct that you will get all Hindi films, but it's funny this guy ask for a ticket for one year old child too. What the hell one-year old see in the theater except bright color spots and sound? This tells very cheap taste of management in making money.
As others mentioned sound system is bad and no AC all the time. I suggest look for alternate theater or just rent a DVD.

This is the only place in the bay area where u can catch the latest of the indian movies. But this place in the summer or at the arrival of a new movie sucks - they turn off the AC and when complained to the manager - his response - what will you do? Bathrooms are never clean on saturday/sundays and the refreshments are a ripoff. Only if there was another alternative to go see movies, I would skip this place in a heartbeat

Theatre is too small and the sound system is not that great. Compared to this i would say that the IMC sound system is better. I just come here when i have no other go but have to watch an Indian movie!!! Wouldn't recommend it though...definitely not if u r going with some significant other.

This theatre is famous for screening Indian hindo movies. Sometimes movies in other regional languages of India are also screened.

This theatre is very populer with all my Indian friends. They drive from a distance to watch movies. I often a see a lot of people there on weeknights too.

I don't think that this is the best cinema hall out there, but it sure is a place to catch latest Bollywood flicks.

If you are in the mood for latest In indian and Pakistani flicks, Naz8 is the place to visit. They play the latest indian and pakistani flicks and at times also play flicks from Mid east and asia pacific. But in all the greatest place to watch the latest in South asian movies. Has a lot of options of restaurants in the same shopping complex

PROS: Great collection of latest indian and pakistani movies
CONS: crampled place and some rooms are not clean
