Vienna Pastry Inc

My family has been buying pastries from them for at least 20 years. This last week we purchased a cake with fruits, after we started eating it we realized that the fruit was bad, there was MOLD on it. Said to say two people felt sick from it that night. When we went in to tell the owner about it, he has rude about it and said that it was not his fault, because the fruit was purchased from Vons. Sorry to tell you but regardless of where you bought the ingredients from, I bought the cake from you. They were extremely rude and acted like he did not care, when I was not to even try to get my money back. Sad to say that after a long time of being a client, I will never buy from them again.

I asked 2 bakeshops to do me a specialty cake with 4 days notice and neither of them would do it. I called Vienna Pastry and they had no problems making me a specialty cake on the day and at the time I asked. They were polite on the phone, I have had a lot of their cakes and pastries before and have always found them delicious and beautiful to look at. I don;t know why that other person had a cake with mold in it, but I would not hesitate to reccomend this bakeshop to anyone and everyone.

I recently went to an event at the Bonaventure hotel in downtown LA. When it was time for dessert they brought out the most amazing fine pastries I have ever seen. I asked the chef who made the pastries and he said they got them from Vienna Pastry in Santa Monica. Anyway, I have never been there before, but I have been dreaming about the pastries I tried that were from there.

I have been going to this local bakery for years and I have to say its definitely old school, but I just love their fruit tarts and their cheese danishes. I have never tried their breads and cookies, but they have some really cool looking cakes ( I got a sesame street themed one for my daughter once and it was a hit at her birthday party.) Some more of my favorites are the chocolate muffin and the blueberry muffin.

A friend of mine brought a birthday cake to me on Thrusday morning Aug. 21.

The cake looked beautiful. We kept it in the refrigerator until we were able to eat it the following evening. We were very disappointed to find a completely green cake after we cut into it.

We initially thought the green was pistachio but to our horror we found it to be MOLD!!

What a terrible feeling!

I wouldn't recommend this bakey to anyone. Not even to an enemy!

I have ordered many birthday cakes here in the past couple of years, and they often disappoint me. They look good, but are often dry, or the frosting too sweet.

On the other hand, the pastry they sell daily is usually quite good, especially the little tarts and the cookies. Prices are reasonable.

There was a birthday cake I had at work a couple months ago. It was the best chocolate cake I had ever had in my life, hands down. I asked where it was from, I was told Vienna Bakery on Wilshire in Santa Monica. I tracked the place down. The place is unimpressive, a small bakery, kind of old looking. I got a cake, the one with chocolate shavings all over it (they always have a lot of these on display) and though it was good, it was not the same. I will have to go back and see if I can find the cake I had the first time. If I can find it, I'll come back and chage the rating to 5 stars.
