AWFUL, awful bedside manner during the delivery of my son 7yrs ago......7yrs later I still have such frustration from my experience with this Dr especially when I see her ads in the Beach Reporter stating she's Dr of the Year according to US News & World Report...not sure who she paid off for that! The night my son was born it was middle of the night & she came in to deliver him & i still recall her coming into the delivery room & throwing her keys/wallet on the counter in an annoyed way - the room turned very stressful even among the otherwise sweet nurses - you could sense the tension! ...then chastising me for questioning her on whether i really needed an episiotomy & told me if 'well if you think you know better than me...."...OMG!! Then the next morning when she did her follow up check with a 'I told you so' attitude about how much I tore! I don't think you could find a worse OB if you tried....she might be good at GYN but should not be delivering babies.

HORRIBLE!!!!!!! DO NOT GO THERE IF YOU ARE PREGNANT!!!!

They treat you very bad, tell you lies about that they love to do everything as natural as they can.... they yell at you and make you feel horrible. I ended up having a fourth degree tear. On my last day in the hospital dr. Schulz comes to me and says " if you had a scheduled C section you would still have had your own anus!!!!" Is that something you tell a new mom who just went through labor????? I can tell you many more stories... but it makes me mad by only thinking of them.....
A year later I keep meeting other moms who have the same stories about them.

Please, if you are looking for an OB, please do yourself a favor and look for a doctor somewhere else.

Why are some of the 5-star comments are reposted with a more recent date of 2008 and 2009? I remember reading these possitive comments with Dr. Anita Sumen a long time back, and also learned that she's no longer with the same practice for more than a year now. I don't doubt the authentication of the positive posts because I remember reading them a year plus ago, but it just eeks me a little bit that insiderpages.com may have bumped up the positive posts for ranking purpose.

2 Days after my unplanned C-Section, Dr Salem asked what pain medication I was taking. I told her I was taking one Motrin at bedtime, but otherwise felt Ok and didn't feel I needed any pain meds. She replied quite haughtily, "You've just had major surgery. Only ASIAN women can handle pain." This wasn't my first bad experience with her. I had seen mainly Dr Bujor (great, BTW) through my pregnancy, but Dr Salem was on-call at the end over Thanksgiving week. Dr Salem insisted on scheduling an inducement 1 week after my due date, giving me no medical reason for doing so (everyone I've talked to has said their doctor will schedule an induction 2 weeks after your due date). And then Dr Salem tried to bill it like I was SOOO lucky that she was LETTING me pick my baby's birthdate. Like I care what day my baby is born - I wanted natural, not a "cool" number. Worse, after the C-section, all the nurses were complimenting her on her fantastic stitching, and she was clearly beaming with pride. No one has ever seen my scar besides my husband and my doctors - I don't care what it looks like!

Wasn't happy with my routine exam. Due to a paperwork issue, I ended up having to pay for stuff that should have been covered as part of my well check exam. Not planning to return.

My husband and I were both highly impressed with the Women's Physicians Medical Group. The best, by far, is Dr Anita Sumen. She was my primary care physician, and she delivered my son in 2007. In addition, she gave us the referral for our son's pediatrician, who we also love. I agree with another reviewer that it is a small town "loving" experience in a big city. I just found out I was pregnant (again) this week, and have already scheduled my next appointment there. :)

Although I must say that the office is very comfortable and the nurses are kind and helpful, they have good appt. schedules, this may not be the best option for some women. I am sure that many patients can have a positive experience here if they are not having anything of importance going on and just need a yearly pap or if they don't plan to ask a lot of questions or own their own health, body and medical experience. I saw the Medical Group of Physicians from the beginning of my pregnancy. Their were many insensitive moments. I guess I thought, because they are women their would be more sensitivity to female health and questions. I must clearly state here that Dr. Bujor was the exception. She was patient, open minded and helpful. Unfortunately Dr. Schulz and Dr. Sanders were very rushed, not open to many questions and ideas, were not very sensitive and did not respect my concept or hopes for my pregnancy and delivery and were not very well versed in some things that seemed surprising. I think if you want to schedule an elective c-section you can find a good Dr. at this office. If you want to attempt natural child birth you will be turned away or talked into tests, more tests, medications etc. I was told that if I planned to study the Bradley Method I could not be treated by them at 25 weeks along which is amazing since it is hard to find an OBGYN this far along, but I am sure that if I wanted to schedule an elective c-section they would book it in a second. Not what I had expected from women or open minded doctors. Again Dr. Bujor was very positive, but they have their practice set up that you see all physicians and then whom ever is on call will deliver you. And Dr. Schulz said that she in her practice was not comfortable with treating patients that were studying Bradley since these patients refused things that they may want to do. That is the whole point of being a well versed consumer of health care. You find a good doctor and you educate your self on your medical needs and your situation in order to have a positive out come! Disappointing experience, but I do wish the practice well as I am sure they offer positive assistance in some areas and Dr. Bujor had a very kind bed side manner.

I love these women. They delivered my daughter. A repeat C-Section procedure that went well. the have one small office in Manhantan Beach and a huge office in Redondo Beach. They gave great referals, and were always pleasent to me. BTW I was late to almost every appointment and they were still very polite. I had 2 doctors operating on me at one time during the C-Section. This was a great experience compared to my 1st delivery. I recommend these doctors to all of my female associates. My mother and husband were even impressed.

Wouldn't recommend! I had a slight emergency just recently, needed to see a doctor and all of them were on vacation!!! Not one doctor in the practice was able to see me. They WERE QUITE RUDE,and told me to go to the urgent care. They were not helpful at ALL!

Not only are the people here rude, they completely billed my insurance falsely! I am currently in a battle with them and naturally they will not admit one ounce of fault!!! Try talking to someone there...they are completely rude and treat you like a two year old!!Can you believe they actually tried to bill me for a phone call! Absurd! Stay away...there are so many excellent medical groups in this area...this one needs a reality check!!

dr shultz happened to be on call when i went into labor. bad experience from the start. not at all a "caring, woman physician". she was rude, callous, unprofessional to the end. muttering things like she didn't even know if the baby would "fit out of there" (whereas that had never been an issue in previous exams, and i did deliver vaginally just fine.) she seemed to want to get it done with and go home. granted, i did deliver 11pm on a sunday nite, after 20 hours of labor. she was intimidating and seemed annoyed that i had opinions of my own. that if i wanted to do things "my way" then i should go home. my doula tried to keep me calm and focused. bad went to worse when i was CROWNING for agonizing 10 minutes, the nurse told me i couln't push-- we had to wait for doctor who finally arrived 10 minutes late. then worse went to traumatic as my baby almost died. dr schulz pulled her out, holding her by her head, cut the cord.... but my baby wasn't breathing... the nurse called in BABY BLUE code for neonatologist... revived baby... but possibly not breathing for up to 5 MINUTES! low apgar, 4 days NICU, testing and IV's... most awful experience of my life.

then i heard from other doctor and other moms that others have had awful experiences with this doctor too!

i don't know if my baby's trauma had anything to do with what dr. schultz did or did not do. i don't know if she did anything "wrong" technically or legally or whatever. but there is still a lot of bitterness i feel towards her. two years later and mother to a beautiful little girl... yes i'm thankful, but not to dr schultz!

I like this place. It is small and close to home. All the doctors are women and will talk to you about everything. The front office staff is kind of rude sometimes. Especially when you try talking to them on the phone. They seem a little lazy. I, myself used to work in a busy doctors office and never talked to my patients like some of those girls talked to me that last time I had to call the Medical group. Overall I recommend the doctors here. They are really good doctors and really seem to care about you and your health as a woman.

Yes, the doctors are all female and well qualified and experienced, I am sure....except for one doctor, which I won't name here (but I wish I could so you know not to make an appointment with her), that I had bad experience with, everyone else is pretty good. What I dislike is their dingy, small waiting area and very uncomfortable waiting area as well as a long wait (with the appointment, of course) and a small office. They have cute pictures of every baby they gave a birth too, though.

I am so glad to find a group of female doctors that went into practice together. Most graduated together and know each other very well. This makes it a more relaxed and family type atmosphere at the office. They keep up on the latest treatments and have great office hours. I highly recommend them to all women!!!

PROS: experienced, family atmosphere
CONS: only one office
