Brian Fong, OD

I've been going to see Drs. Fong and Wong since elementary school. They are the only optometrists I've seen in my entire life and, although I haven't lived in SF for 5 years, I am planning to see them when I fly back for my wedding. Like in the other comments, they are very friendly and I have always enjoyed seeing them. The staff has always been friendly and stable and the service is consistent. Dr. Fong has always cared and been willing to share about his life while asking about mine and has always looked out for my eyes and my wallet. The only problem would be parking, but that's trivial, especially since there's so much public transportation and all you need to do is part a couple of blocks further.

I've been going here since I first started wearing glasses when I was 7! Doctors are the same, receptionist is the same...and that's a good thing. They have a really friendly staff and they're very good at what they do. Dr. Fong is always very friendly and has the answers to all your questions (and if he doesn't, he'll find out for you). I love this place so much that I didn't even switch optomitrists when I moved to southern California, I just came back to the city to get my eyes checked. This is worth the parking hassles.

Pros: Good selection of glasses, friendly office staff, timely.

Cons: I guess parking? But there are 4 different buses and a train that stop right at the corner, so not really.

Just like the last comment, Dr. Fong provide excellent service and is very honest about your options. He never tries to sell you more expensive services/products and really cares about your health. He has solid skills and knowledge about optometry and is very personal and takes time to take care you. I can't say more -- I have stay with him for 15 years for my vision needs, and even after moving down to San Jose I still travel to see him.

Pros: honest and caring service

I have nothing but praise for Dr. Fong. After trying a different local optometrist first and getting an overly strong contact lens prescription, I tried Dr. Fong. He nailed it first time, and has every time since for five years following, with both my glasses and contacts. He is very personable and listens to what you have to say, has good measured opinions, and is timely, and doesn't try to rush things. Overall I've been very happy with my service there and would recommend him to anyone looking for an optometrist in the Sunset district.

Pros: Great service, personable optometrist, extensive knowledge of the area

Cons: Hours aren't the most convenient and parking can be tricky
